Befuddled: I'm watching 'Blazing Saddles' on Encore because why not and I just found out something that kind of blew my mind. Gabby Johnson, the drunk in 'Blazing Saddles' is played by the same actor that plays Galt, the evil deputy, in 'First Blood'.

Quoting this just to get my 180 day post count up.

OK, so, in The Secret Life of Pets, how the hell do the Flushed Pets reach the Brooklyn Bridge so quickly in the finale? Seriously, it's like, 100 animals suddenly appear in the exact middle of the bridge out of f*cking nowhere. I mean, I get that this is a kid's movie about talking anthropomorphic animals, but this one scene rendered me completely unable to suspend disbelief for the rest of the film.

I can guarantee that I haven't watched a movie this year that wasn't made after 1940.

‘’ 2016-10-13 10:03:30 PM
was made after 1940. I didn't go to any movies and I only watched one or two on my laptop.

Hope this clarification helps.

NOT ANOTHER COVER OF HALLELUJAH. NOOOOOOOOO!

Bonus review:
Saw 'The Handmaiden' and while I was expecting a 'Lock STock and Two Smoking Barrels" kind of deal it turned out to be the kind of thriller where the dots were erratically connected and then colored in. Yeahhhhh. That + I am used to sex scenes in art films being all artistic with lighting and stuff but there were several lesbian scenes that were lit like a porno and went on far too long to be any use to advancing the plot.

Is Rogue One fostering any anti-Empire sentiments in here? What about any anti-establishment sentiments? Anti-white-power sentiments? I need full disclosure of sentiments, folks.

Micro reviews:

Deadpool- probably one of the better comic book movie openers. Wonder if the first thought a comic book movie writer thinks when he/she gets assigned to write a script is, "how fast can we get the hero's girlfriend or wife punched in the face". It was just lazy.

Suicide Squad- saw the first 15 minutes. Turned it off. Fatman looked like they auditioned a bunch of guys who dress up as Batman for parties and asked him to bring his own suit. Leto's grills ensured that he would talk like a 15 year old with braces and wow, Harley Quinn sure is an anti-hero. A sexy anti-hero. *makes "call me" waggle motion with my hand*

Anchors Away - not even Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra could save this mishmash of scenes and bad 40s slang. Is it any wonder Jackie Mason had a career?

Bilbo Baggins, the search for more money, episode 3 - HOLY CARP y'all, the cgi in this was baaaaad and the first 15 minutes were not enjoyable. At all. How bad was the story AND the cgi? It had that feel of older movies where you could tell when they were on a soundstage and filming live. It was really bad, y'all. The Dwarves looked like basketball team members on their knees.

These are truth. Don't @ me.

Plebes. People actually care about the Oscars? Really. Amusing.

Saw the original Godfather on a big screen with amazing sound at the Kimmel Center and wow, what an experience. Can't say enough about how much more it leaps at you and drags you in. The difference between looking at a masterpiece in a book and in person.

Could have REALLY done without the people talking loudly about the reasons why THEY CAN APPRECIATE THIS MOVIE MORE THAN EVERYONE ELSE + the lady next to us who had to make a big thing out of the fact that we weren't old enough to see it when it came out.

So in conclusion, hell is other people.

Saw 'the Arrival' and the 'Peanuts' movie as well as inflicted 'The Big Lebowski' on my gf who has never seen it. She said, "Is that it? For all the internet talks about it. That's it?" and I agree.

'The Arrival' was excellent. Everything a true sci fi movie needs to be. See it with the sound cranked up.
'Peanuts' was genuinely enjoyable and charming. Would watch it again.

Hot take:
Neil Gaiman is pretty bad and 'American Gods' punishes women for having sex and the main character is literally the most cliched badass, anti-hero mary sue anyone could possibly make this side of Rowling.

Louie Anderson's turn as Christine Baskets in the show Baskets is some of the finest television acting I've ever seen. He is completely believable as the eternally optimistic, secretly depressed, right-leaning Reaganite mother of twin failures (both portrayed by Zach Galwithafatkiss).

I never in my life thought I'd laud anything Louie Anderson did after "Life with Louie," but after binging all of "Baskets," I was completely floored by Louie. He absolutely deserved his Emmy.
