Whoa. I'm afraid to even put more than 5 gallons at a time in my car. Well... I do like to drift once in a while.

That was perhaps one of the poorest written articles I've seen on the intartubes this week. "Airhead"? and in the first sentence ... a MEXICAN man... as if that was incredibl pertinent to the story.

/hates the Post, might as well quote from WWN, more entertaining and better written
//how was the gas-selling illegal?

2007-07-01 4:06:28 PM
And cops say that without alcohol they would have nothing to do.
/At least, I think I heard that somewhere
//maybe it was all a dream

Hilarious

"They could come and steal it. Next thing you know, it would be like what happened in London."

You mean, pretty much nothing?

/shaking in seat over the thought of wannabe terrorists lighting themselves on fire

Wasn't that in Glasgow anyway?

This article reminds me of Tony Kornheiser's line about what the Post's motto should be: "Occasionally printed in English."

"...it would be like what they had happen in London."

So they're insinuating that a terrorist might have stolen his illegal gas tank so that they could build a car bomb with it? As if terrorists wouldn't be able to do this without stealing it from some moran?

Fear-mongering much?

"If the wrong person [knew he had all that gas in the van, he] could do some real damage," said witness Giacomo Incannila. "They could come and steal it. Next thing you know, it would be like what happened in London."

YES OMFG WHAT IF SOME CRAZY TERRIST GOT AHOLD OF 80 GALLONS OF GASOLINE???!!?!?!?!

I'm moving to Greenland before the terrorsts figure out they can make 20 trips to the Conoco station with a four gallon gas tank.

2007-07-01 4:11:53 PM
A terrorist spin? Because the thousands of giant tankers full of gasonline can't be stolen...

This guy could be the farking captain of the Failboat

I'm pretty sure this is as stupid as one of my submissions.

jake_lex:

You're thinking of two seperate incidents.

There was the Haymarket car bomb attempt, as well as an attack on the Glaskow airport (a Jeep driven into the main entrance). Police do think the two were linked.

2007-07-01 4:20:46 PM
there are actually people who would buy gasoline from some dude who is selling it out of a minivan. amazing

2007-07-01 4:21:00 PM
Nobody is asking the question;

--Why was he REselling gas? How do you profit for that unless you sell for more than it's worth?

2007-07-01 4:22:59 PM
Spin-on NY Post, you crazy magnificent bastards!

What if the terrorists discover that inflammable means the same thing as flammable? On that day, my friends, we are farked.

I'm guessing he was running a gas station much like the one featured on Trailer Park Boys.

/the high test tastes sweeter than the others

"They could come and steal it. Next thing you know, it would be like what happened in London."

The car bomb attempt in London was a joke. The car contained 50 gallons of gasoline. It would have made a big fireball and blown out some windows . Now if the car contained fifty pounds of C4, it would have been devastating.

I came in to complain about this sentence: "If the wrong person [knew he had all that gas in the van, he] could do some real damage,"

I'm not sure what what exactly they replaced with the brackets, but it doesn't make much sense as is.

jonnoj77 Why was he REselling gas? How do you profit for that unless you sell for more than it's worth?

He was probably buying it exempt from highway taxes by claiming it was for agriculture use, or something like that. Could easily sell it for 50 cents/gallon under retail that way and still make a good profit.

Hey, in a post 6/30 world, you can't be too careful.

We need an image generator where you can put in the source image, and it adds firetrucks, policemen, a crying eagle, and the words "[your text here] - we will never forget"

Like the LOLcat generator, but for terrorist attacks.

2007-07-01 5:11:42 PM
it would be like what happened in London.

The Great Fire of 1666? The Blitz?

Yes, it would be just like those.

2007-07-01 5:11:48 PM
I think the guy handled the fire really well.

He disconnects the burning hose from the main supply, then moves the supply out of danger. He then returns to put out the relatively insignificant burning fuel line.

Well done.

An American would have probably called 9/11 and waited for help.

FWOOSH!

350 gallon capacity? Pretty smart. He buys in Jersey, pays his tolls, and makes $.10 a gallon or so. He might have to make a couple trips a day, but it's easy work.

"If the wrong person [knew he had all that gas in the van, he] could do some real damage," said witness Giacomo Incannila. "They could come and steal it. Next thing you know, it would be like what happened in London."

Crap- we'd better get rid of the legit gas tanker trucks too. someone could steal one of thoses as well!!!

OHNOES! London! 911! Osama! OHNOES! Exxon!

2007-07-01 6:34:47 PM
He yanked the hose out of the tank and drove away, then returned to put out the burning hose with a bucket of water

WRONG.

2007-07-01 6:37:18 PM
Buzzvert and in the first sentence ... a MEXICAN man... as if that was incredibl pertinent to the story.

If it's irrelevant in a racist sort of way to mention that the van owner was a Mexican, isn't it likewise irrelevant in a sexist sort of way to mention that the van owner was a man?

/"spokesman" and "salesman" are now "spokesperson" and "salesperson," but "gunman" and "madman" are still "gunman" and "madman"

Imagine the poor shmuck who decides he's going to steal a couple of gallons of gas by poking a hole in the tank.

2007-07-01 7:33:20 PM
A gas tank with a capacity of 350 gallons weighs aproxomately 2700 pounds. Any stock minivan trying to pull this off really is a Flaming Ball of Death searching for a place to happen.

See how afraid they are of the terrorists over there.. You guys act like it is fear-mongering but the truth is that since they decided it'd be better to have Mosques on every corner instead of McDonalds, they've got a major Islamofacist problem now.

You liberals still haven't seen the light, have you? Muslims in the EU have been tormenting the "natives" with their violence and riots for a long time now..

McDonalds cooks its fries in the same grease as the meat? Muslims riot..
Some dude makes a cartoon making fun of the pedophile rapist Mohammad... Muslims riot..
Some idiot burns a Koran... Muslims riot.

on and on and on..

They've got "Muslim Neighborhoods" over there where people actually try to implement Sharia Law in them.. Some Muslims blew up a freaking book store in one of their neighborhoods, killing plenty of innocents, because the store sold material that is against their Sharia Law..

Go ahead liberals, welcome them to our country with open arms.. So our papers can have even more ".... something bad happened, it wasn't an Islamofacist this time!", just like this one.

Support the War Against Terrorism, they are very real..

I don't think so. You can buy agricultural gas here, but it's only about twenty cents less than the fully-taxed gas at the station, and it's tinted to make it easy to identify. I think it's more likely that the van owner stole the gas and was reselling it.
