Best lede evar:

"Boy, America has had a lot of shiatty presidents. Just take a stroll down repressed memory land and look at that police line-up from November 22, 1963 through January 1992."

/somebody's got a hardon for JFK, methinks

Worst op-ed ever

Nothing like damning people to hell based on vague generalizations, unfounded accusations and truthiness.

Sorry, Mr. Clinton wasn't and isn't a Liberal.

2007-06-22 4:38:19 PM
That sucked on so many levels.

2007-06-22 4:38:20 PM
Clinton will be viewed in the decades to come as history's greatest monster.

Good editorial. Subby should put down the bong and read it again.

Clinton lost this liberal at NAFTA, then again at Tiananmen Square.

Still, I'd take another eight years of him over another five minutes of Booji Boy.

Bush goal with good intentions- No Child Left Behind. Shiatty law but he meant well.

Not good op-ed.

2007-06-22 4:52:11 PM
You could argue that even the world's worst fascist dictators at least meant well. They honestly thought were doing good things for their countries by suppressing blacks/eliminating Jews/eradicating free enterprise/repressing individual thought/killing off rivals/invading neighbors, etc.

Godwin FTW. That article is so full of fail.

Clinton started the recent explosion in the prison-industrial complex that sent prison populations from a couple hundred thousand to over two million.

It was during his administration that feds started arresting and charging marijuana users for simple possession rather than letting it slide for small amounts, as had been done previously.

And yes, even though I don't think it was a big deal, and I don't think he should have been forced to testify about it, and I don't think it was evasive of him to answer the way he did, sometimes I do wish he'd kept it in his farking pants.

He lost me at 'January 1992'. Maybe he thinks George Bush Sr. did a good job during his last year.

Clinton lost this liberal at NAFTA, then again at Tiananmen Square.

That. I seem to recall something about his welfare reform pissing off the liberals too.

eqtworld: Clinton will be viewed in the decades to come as history's greatest monster.

I think W saved him that disgrace, dammit.

Even though I disagree with Clinton on a bunch of issues, the one thing that keeps me coming back to him is his ability to speak on his feet. Goddamn, that man's public speaking ability puts the last 10 years' crop of politicians to shame.

Was this piece written by a high school student that was pissed off at his republican dad? I've seen more objective shiat from Michael Moore.

/hate Michael Moore
//hate me some Bush too

FTA: What no one is saying is the one overarching reason he's the worst: the Bush administration is the first that doesn't even mean well.

I work with many Christian Bush supporters and they all say they support Bush "because he's a Christian."

Then I ask them to name one Christian thing he's done and they can't. Ever.

2007-06-22 5:01:57 PM
Reagon on many things was infinitly more liberal and socialist than both the Clintons put together.

2007-06-22 5:03:32 PM
Dr.Zom ummm the two stem cell vetos. Not necessarily christian but it does play for them.

Yeah, all that peace and prosperity and $1.05 a gallon gas when Clinton was President really sucked.

Wait, what?

Clinton started the recent explosion in the prison-industrial complex that sent prison populations from a couple hundred thousand to over two million.

Reagan declared the 'war on drugs', fwiw.
But yeah, NAFTA; fark 'em all.

eqtworld:Clinton will be viewed in the decades to come as history's greatest monster. You mean Hillary, right?

2007-06-22 5:13:31 PM
Bill Clinton will be remembered as the finest Republican president of the latter half of the 20th century.

2007-06-22 5:16:58 PM
oryx: You mean Hillary, right?

Only after the end of her second term when she endorses and manages the newt Democratic party presidential campaign and gets Pelosi elected .

Sorry, Mr. Clinton wasn't and isn't a Liberal.

Even though all those morans who are trying to sell George Bush being a liberal this Clinton is.

KKKlinton keyed my car.

carmody: Tiananmen Square.

That was quite a trick seeing how the protests occurred in 1989.

Good lord! For what? He didn't do anything.

Sorry, Mr. Clinton wasn't and isn't a Liberal.

Well, he was a liberal in the way that GW is a conservative... Basically they both started out on one side, and then borrowed liberally from the other persuasion when trying to lead.

It's actually quite wise to do so, as it expands a politician's appeal. Newt Gingrich and Dennis Kucinich both don't have a chance in hell of getting elected president - but people like Bill Clinton and GW (who are willing to lean towards the middle) will.

2007-06-22 6:02:01 PM
Clinton wasn't a bad president. The BJ was completely unimportant except that it was spun masterfully. Of course he could have found a better place to be serviced, but who really believes he was the first to spill some seed there?

The article is right on track as far as I'm concerned. I'd bet that even when he does something to help his friends he expects something in return.

My only disagreement would be about imigration reform. I'm sure there is something in it for him.

Same with NCLB.

submitter: Liberal columnist griping about how America has had so many lousy presidents, especially Bill Clinton. Wait, what?

Duh... Clinton was one of the best Republican presidents this country ever had.

2007-06-22 6:36:07 PM
When did this Clinton was a republican stuff start? Is this something new that occured when progressives/liberals figured out that their party is not what it seems, thus trying to distance themselves from the last major figurehead for the largest party that "works*" for them? Cus this sounds like Bush is a liberal talk.

Maybe it is me. mehhh

*wanted to use pander but that is wholly the wrong word.

Saiga410: Cus this sounds like Bush is a liberal talk.

Liberal means favoring change. Conservative means to opposed change.

The words do not have the same meaning or impact that they once did.

Clinton balancing the budget could be seen as conservative (a return to the way things once worked) policy.

Bush taking over and starting a multi-year full occupation of a sovereign foreign could be seen as liberal, because it is a dramatic change from the way most US involved wars began.

2007-06-22 9:46:39 PM
RanDomino: Reagan declared the 'war on drugs', fwiw.

Actually, Nixon did, but Reagan cranked it up.

The fact that Clinton didn't stop it makes him just as liable, though.

eqtworld: Liberal means favoring change. Conservative means to opposed change.

That's true. (Well, actually liberal meant favoring "liberty", not change. That would be progressive.) Back in reality, however...

The words do not have the same meaning or impact that they once did.

I don't think "liberal" and "conservative" could be said to have held those meanings since the Enlightenment.

Clinton balancing the budget could be seen as conservative (a return to the way things once worked) policy.

I'd agree with that.

Bush taking over and starting a multi-year full occupation of a sovereign foreign could be seen as liberal, because it is a dramatic change from the way most US involved wars began.

This, however, I wouldn't. Your problem is that a lot of issues fall fairly outside the left/right spectrum, including interventionism in foreign policy.

Of course, in my opinion "liberal" and "conservative" in their current meanings are just two different strands of authoritarianism.

Clinton wasn't a liberal... he was a corporatist... happened to be Dem.

/'cons would've loved the guy if he had been a 'Pub
//which made him all that more of a target, since he rendered the GOP unnecessary
///not that it isn't already unnecessary

Bill Clinton isn't a saint... Ruby Ridge and Waco show what a scumbag he is.

Give me a break Churchill, Clinton would have been crucified by the right had he stopped the drug war, regardless of whether he wanted to or not.

Oh, you'll get no disagreement from me there.

Give me a break Churchill, Clinton would have been crucified by the right

What would they have done, double-secret impeached him?

The four terrorist attacks on US soil virtually unanswered, selling weapon secrets to the bleeding hearts behind Tianaman Square, bribing North Korea to shut up until he was basically out of office, and NAFTA should be Clinton's legacy.
