A bear died because some idiot didn't store his food properly. And he's a hero, Smitty? Even the marine/father feels bad about it.

People come into bear's house with food.
Bear accepts offer of goodies.
Dumbass kid tells bear it's not for him.
Bear says, "hey, well why did you bring it here then?"
Kid says, "Oh Noes, dad. What do I do?"
Dad says, "Stay away from my boy and all that food I brought into your house."

The only commendation I can offer the guy is that he managed to protect his son with what nature had available.

/used to camp ALL the time with black bears all over the place in the Adirondacks.

Yeah, that's what I thought was so bizarre about the black bear killing an 11 yr old in his tent a few days ago. It's a farking black bear. They don't do that. Except that one apparently...

You're right about that. I was married to one and had dated one. Will NEVER allow that to happen again. Basically...,not to piss anybody off, but Marines, although good people, have a major ego. That's why there aren't any ex-Marine's. They can't let go of the fact they were once "The best, of the best, of the best."
