a politician says a provocative and somewhat outrageous thing, the link is greened, and that's "obsessed with race?" if edwards or clinton had said it, it would have been a thread as well.

Ya know, I kinda like Obama. I hate to see him pandering to the "black" vote, versus just working for the vote.

I don't want a white or black president, just a president.

In the past few days, we've had a thread about interracial dating, another about the race concerns of an MIT prof, the Alabama slavery thread and so forth.

I know controversy drives page views, but come on. There is more to life than partisan politics and racial tension.

I don't know why I expected more from Fark. This is exactly what happens when boobies are banished from the regular site.

Los Angeles. The riots. A groundswell of African-American rage against The Man. The (white) Man. And to demonstrate their anger and dissatisfaction...they burned down their own homes.

You'd think they would have at least headed for Hollywood.

Not to add to the racial side of things, but there is an "urban" AM talk station here that can turn grass seed into a racial issue. Even their very few Republican callers are pro-Osama for the sole/soul reason that he's black. He was interviewed on there a couple of weeks ago. I'm afraid that if he leans too far one way to get one side's votes he's going to lose the rest. And I'm afraid that Hillary is too divisive to win. Can't either party come up with someone who we can all back, that wants the best for the entire US, or am I completely out of my mind - well, on this issue, and several others, but I won't go into those right now.

I agree with this. Bush would've been all over New Orleans had the hurricane hit in 2004, and he certainly didn't help anything, but it's an absolute joke that Nagin, Blanco, et al. are still in office.

If anyone read the actual transcripts, he never suggests that urban poor are preparing to riot. That comes directly from the writer's imagination. The "riot" Obama's speaking of is general urban blight and crime, hence why it's quiet. Seriously, when the hell was an actual riot quiet?
