The very same group that uses our taxes to berate patriotic americans? Such a shame he couldn't show up.

2007-05-28 08:57:17 PM

Why is there a picture of a dude graduating from Vassar? I know they have them ,but...oh, maybe it's not a dude. Sorry.
2007-05-28 08:58:41 PM

Nice of her to consider others feelings.

One of the worst days of her life and she still was considerate of others on one of their best days.

Vassar is a traitor to the Seven Sisters! It serves them right that they weren't graced by the presence of Ms. Gross.

2007-05-28 09:04:46 PM
It has wires and plays music, what can this thing be that I've found?
2007-05-28 09:08:34 PM
Thia reminds of the scene in Real Genius where the lecture is from a tape recorder, playing to a room full of tape recorders
2007-05-28 09:15:22 PM
It's funny because she does most of her interviews remotely, never actually seeing the person she's interviewing.

I like her replacement host, Dave Davies, much better.

Trying to emulate FlashLV is no way to go through life, son.

I always get Terry Gross and Ira Glass confused (including their respective genders).
2007-05-28 09:19:30 PM
I'm an NPR supporter, donor, and volunteer at my local station.

But I still think Terry Gross is one of the most overrated interviewers in broadcasting.

/Was sad to see Bob Edwards go...

Mighty classiful of Ms. Gross to uphold her committment under the lousy circumstances.

/still waiting for MY commencement speech invitation
//it will delivered drunk

It's just a waste of time

Thank you, probaegenvials and frostius.

It escaped me!

Yes we know, It's nothing new. It's just a waste of time. We have no need for ancient ways... Our world is doing fine. Another toy, That helped destroy The elder race of men. Forget about your silly whim It doesn't fit the plan.

I lose :(
2007-05-28 09:32:45 PM
If there were a way to combine the two shots, it would be better. There was no shot clearly showing the lecturer's reel-to-reel and all the student recorders.
2007-05-28 09:34:19 PM
great interviewer.

Interesting guests.

Good choice for commencement speaker

While very liberal (And me very conservative) I dig her. She has had some very good interviews. Most especially the Gene Simmons interview - damn shame we will never hear that one again!
2007-05-28 09:42:50 PM
Poopsie from Poughkeepsi was expecting a little more.

If they had booked Clarence Thomas and he stood them up, he would have at least sent a Coke can and a pube.
2007-05-28 09:46:16 PM
Vassar hates free checking
2007-05-28 09:57:08 PM
vassar, isn't that the man hating lesbian school?
2007-05-28 10:01:29 PM
spyyder: vassar, isn't that the man hating lesbian school?

No, that's Smith (woohoo!), Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, or Mount Holyoke, which are still women's colleges. But mostly Smith is known as the man-hating lesbian school these days.

But first the news...
2007-05-28 10:14:46 PM
Should've podcast the speech...
2007-05-28 10:20:05 PM
"Gross, who was scheduled to give the commencement speech at Vassar's 143rd exercises, had to back out at the last minute because of the death Wednesday of her father."
2007-05-28 10:23:19 PM
Subby is saying 20-somethings don't know what a radio is?

*looks over at LP collection*

I take it I should feign ignorance of those things to satisfy your latent fear of getting old? Or should we just be honest with ourselves and let me show off my rotary phone collection too?
2007-05-28 10:43:41 PM
Mad Scientist: I still think Terry Gross is one of the most overrated interviewers in broadcasting.

I have to agree. Sometimes she has interesting people, but most of the time it just doesn't do it for me.

/give money to NPR yearly anyways
2007-05-28 10:46:44 PM
well she is not pleasing to my eye, but I LOVE her voice...
2007-05-28 10:47:15 PM
PrinceValium, do you have an intelligent comment, or just gonna hack on me 'cause my computer stinks?
I'll check in for your wisdom later
