(YouTube)   If you've been wondering how to turn yet another great '60s song into a brainless technobeat whorefest with thigh boots and turntable scratching, here's the Royal Gigolos' "California Dreamin'"   (youtube.com) divider line

Boy, did that ever suck.

You know, there would be a million ways to potentially pull that off, and these asshats totally killed it.

It's shiat like this that gives good techno and electronica a bad name.

It's like someone with a crossfader happened to have in an old beach boys track and their hand knocked it at about two minutes.

Also, I think I got genital herpes simply from watching that video.

Hahahahaha, you bastard, you made me remember why I don't drink anything while reading threads. Now I have to go change my shirt, I've got coffee all over it.

Well, if that doesn't make you want to run out and blow up a so-called music store, then you have no heart, soul, or appreciation for music.

FriarTuck

It's the Mamas and the Papas, not the beach boys.

Well, I liked it. Video was cheesie but hearing a re-mix of Cali Dreaming is fine by me.

It didnt suck to high Heaven.

I want an extended version, though.

Methinks I will go listen to my George Wilkins version which uses a calliope and bell organ ranks. You can hear this version at DCA out by Disneyland.

Yay mp3s you can't find on the tubes...

Meh. Feel Alive is a pretty good song.

The Royal Gigolos live up to their name by sucking royally.

Now I'm wondering if they're a Borat-type hoax.

If you want to hear a good version of California Dreaming listen to my namesake's.

It was kind of a hit in Europe a few years ago. "No Milk Today" by Herman Hermit's got the same treatment (and sounded about the same as the "California Dreaming" remix.

was the 'old-school' countdown at the beginning really necessary, especially when you start on 7 and don't even let it go all the way to 1? What then, was the point?

And I watched maybe four seconds of the video before X'ing it

I liked it, but then I like a lot of remixes more than the origals. hell I thought I hated madonna till I heard a real dance floor remix of one of her songs.

man, that was...terrible.
farking makes me want to die a little inside.
and i'm only talking about the video, at this point.

the main beat, though, was actually not terrible(not saying that this is any less of an abomination, just that, anywhere else, that might've sounded kinda cool).
