Ok, I'm not certainly not complaining or anything, but why exactly why is Marsha in a bikini top while the rest of the Brady kids are fully dressed?

Is there a "Next Page" link I'm missing?

Because...

° There is a God, after all
° Jan has lopsided ta-ta's
° Greg lost the coin toss
° Peter won the coin toss
° She's a dirty little slut
° Otherwise, NOBODY would buy their horrible farking records*

*Most likely

Kyosuke: Is there a "Next Page" link I'm missing?

Yeah i can't find it either. More like 27 bad cover songs. Or am i also just missing it?

Uh ... the Vanilla Fudge KEEP ME HANGING ON is one of the best covers in rock history.

They started this back in early April, saying it would all be up by the April 30. I've been going back ever since, but they're now saying it'll all be up by the end of May. I'm not holding my breath.

Rocinante721....
I came here to say the same thing. Vanilla Fudge rules.

Boo!!

Just reminding you that the Nazi F*rk M*ds are watching every step that you make to ensure that you don't infringe upon their new company motto of, "We make Disney look hardcore!".

I just heard that american pie song by the brady bunch and i need something for my ears stat! UGH!

2007-05-08 1:59:19 AM
Umm...the Lemonheads cover of Mrs. Robinson?...
That should not be on this list.

2007-05-08 2:06:03 AM
Is there a reason the video under "Kashmir by Puff Daddy" has nothing to do with that and is clips from Brokeback Mountain with an awful country cover of the already awful "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith?

2007-05-08 2:44:00 AM
"911 is a Joke" by Duran Duran
"Bang a Gong" by Powerstation
"Senses Working Overtime" by Mandy Moore
"I Can See for Miles" by Styx
"There She Goes" by Sixpence None the Wiser

Goddamnit, every time I hear that precious, cutsy version of the great La's song I want to wring that little biatches neck.
Ei yi yi...

2007-05-08 2:46:08 AM
(edit) should be "Sixpence None the Richer"

Aaarrgghh, now I hate em even more...

I'm buying that Bill Cosby album.

I normally agree with Retrocrush, but once I hit #98, it's obvious they've lost their minds.

I'm sorry but Vanilla Fudge's version of You Keep Me Hanging On friggin rocks and it always will. Does not belong anywhere on this list.

Gotta love posting an incomplete article

That being said, I can't FARKING stand that Goo Goo Dolls cover of "Give A Little Bit". It's played ad nauseam on the lite-rock crapfest that's stuck on our office radio ... completely soulless. There's a lot of other stinkers in that (short) list, but for my money that one's the worst of them.

2007-05-08 7:53:19 AM
Worst: Rare Earth cover of 'Eleanor Rigby'

/Article says they'll put up more in the future.

2007-05-08 8:29:26 AM
I don't know who does it, but the radio has been playing a cover of Simple Man, by Lynyrd Skynyrd where the singer does nothing but BELLOW the chorus.
Sing, don't yell, dumbass.
I'm sure someone thinks this is the greatest thing since sliced bread and Supertramp, I'm sure.

Another vote for Lemonheads' Mrs. Robinson not being nearly bad enough to warrant inclusion on this list. It's not great, but aside from the video there's nothing wrong with that song. And seriously, if we start making a list of songs with stupid music videos we'll be here forever.

Also, about Manson's Personal Jesus: I don't think I've heard that particular atrocity before, but I do recall a very similar painful cover by Depeche Mode. Did Manson just sing over the Depeche Mode cover?

Best cover ever? Ian Brown - Thriller (seriously, check it out)

QFT.

Also:

- Who the hell stuck Jim Carrey in front of a microphone?
- The video for Kashimir is wrong
- The fact that William Hung is #92 does not bode well for those to come

I agree that the Fudge's cover is not nearly "worst 100" worthy but you gotta admit that it is a pompous, plodding pretentious piece of work. Take a great Motown hit with a fantastic groove and give it the early prog-rock Elgar treatment - it's like listening to the original 45 on 33-1/3 (that's geezer-speak, and get off my lawn!). Not horrible and certainly must be listened to in context of the times, but not worthy of too much praise, either. At least they made an original interpretation, which is much more than I can say for...

The Lemonheads (and several others on this small list). They violated my #1 rule for covers - don't record a version that adds nothing to the original. All they did was prove that they can handle the chord changes. Boring = bad.

There needs to be a distinction between "bad" (the Lemonheads mentioned above) and "le bad" like the Brady Bunch or Burt Ward masterpieces mentioned in the article. Bad stuff is not funny, it's just bad. Le bad, like Don Ho's "Shock the Monkey" or Sir Julian's "Green Tambourine" are unintentionally funny, usually attempts to overreach or be timely, but missing miserably, and those are worth seeking out.

I have that Bill Cosby album. I kept waiting to hear funny bits, but he just kept singing...

Personal Jesus is a Depeche Mode song.

Good cover songs:

Phil Collins - Tomorrow Never Knows
Foo Fighters - Baker Street
Peter Gabriel - Ain't That Peculiar
CCR - I Put a Spell on You
...

Oh no need for shame. Just get your coffee and go forth in caffeinated bliss!

Speaking from a purely heterosexual sense, Whitney Houston nailed "I Will Always Love You" and it will be one day remembered as one of the defining songs of her career. Tell me this song does not make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!!

2007-05-08 11:19:45 AM
The Brady Bunch clusterfark was indeed horrifying.

I wonder if Wall Of Voodoo's "Ring Of Fire" will make the list. One of my favorite covers just 'cuz it's so friggin' out there.

Speaking of Stan Ridgway, there's an amusing bad-lounge-singer cover of Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors" on his solo album "Holiday In Dirt".

Stan Ridgway is tha man.

"911 is a Joke" by Duran Duran

Well Flava Flav did say that Duran Duran's cover of 911 is a Joke was "slammin"

I just have to defend anything Duran Duran.

As bad as the Brady Bunch version on "American Pie" was it's still better than the version Madonna put out a few years ago. Her's can be summed up with one word: Poo.

2007-05-08 1:55:01 PM
For some reason I pictured Peter Brady humping an apple pie when I read the headline.

Tom Jones: anything on the album RELOAD
Electric Six: Radio GaGa

Amish Paradise by Weird Al is my favorite. Although a parody, it has Florence Henderson in the video, and really pissed off Coolio.

How much more successful can a cover be?

The disaster that was All Along the Watchtower in the Battlestar Galactica season finale still wakes me up in a cold sweat.

robbiedo: Weird Al is my favorite. Although a parody

With WeirdAl, the line between parody and cover is quite blurred.

2007-05-08 10:12:28 PM
The worst cover ever is David Bowie's version of Whiskey Bar. It's an abomination!

Hedwig FTW!!!

Garanteed, Ms Miller is in the top 5

And if Mariah Carey(sp) isnt there somewhere with Def Leppard's Bringin' On the Heartbreak, then the list is worthless.
