Cute. But was it really necessary to caption all 6 pictures with cutesy sentences?

Procedural Texture: proctex.imagehostadvisory.com

The version I've seen of that great photo says something like "So it's agreed. You give up the other mice and we let you live." :)

Did they really have to write a story about that? Couldn't they have just posted the pictures they stole from reddit or digg the other day and leave it at that?

Anyways,

Yeah, you would think the least they could do is post the website they found it at as the last thing in the article, like:

This story should lead off about giving birth at the zoo...cuz that's an ugly ass cat and and ugly ass mouse.

Let me be the first of many (undoubtedly) to say: NOT a mouse - that is a rat. Rats are capable of making friends with cats/dogs -- mice are not.

/have had cats & rats who were friends

I have a cat like this, he won't hurt a soul. We used to let our cats go outside as they pleased. Lucky, a Siamese, would bring home dead mice and we'd have to chase him down and take them from him before he ate them. Simon, a big fat orange thing, would bring home mice as well, but they where totally unharmed carried gently in his mouth like a kitten. Needless to say, we had a bit of a mice problem thanks to him. One day we were sitting around the kitchen table talking when one of Simon's catches comes out from behind the basement door and walked right by Simon who watches it pass indifferently. Simon is a totally useless but very awesome cat.

Isn't it all about whether a cat has been trained to catch its food? If they grow up without that kind of training..a mouse means nothing? I'm probably wrong..I've only had "outside" cats that caught and killed lots of rodents and left them on the porch as gifts.

I read that as "Cat makes friends with moose", now I'm disappointed. THANKS A LOT,SUBBY.

That's a rat in the article.

2007-04-20 04:43:53 AM
Satchel_brown Nope, they don't need training - I got my cat at the shelter over a year ago when he was 7 months old, have always kept him indoors, and when mice showed up a few months ago he went right for them. He treats them more like toys than food, but they were so badly damaged and stressed out by his "playing" that is was no problem to catch them in tupperware and throw them out.

This is either a huge mouse or a tiny cat.

My guess, a rat and a cat (perhaps young)

//not an expert, but growing up my brother had dozens of rats

Same story as ornithopter, Olivia will play with mice until they are so shocked they beg to be scooped up in a dustpan and put outside.

PS Definitely a rat in the original picture.

I pity that poor kitten, living in a shiathole with cheap, after-market secondary window-glazing and farking RATS running around the place.

2007-04-20 08:48:03 AM
Big ugly mouse. The ones around here are super cute with a light brown on top and cream bellies.

Which reminds me--have to pick up some more traps for the basement today. (Don't get the Made in China snap-traps, they don't work.)

An ex-GF of mine had a rat, 3 cats, an a kitten. The rat would hang out of the couch, waiting for a cat to go by. Then he'd jump on the cats back and try to hang on for 8 seconds while the cat bucked. And the rat would wrestle with the kitten.

"Normally when cat meets mouse, you can guarantee the outcome of a contest that should be about as onesided as Manchester United against Torquay United."

I live in the US, so I have know farking clue what this means.

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre
little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the
other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although
I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must
eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that
keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I
once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their
feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it
clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made
condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I
am....Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was
placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However,
I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my
confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this
means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful
in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his
feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the
top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems
to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird
has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards
regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have
arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.
For now...

YES! That complements the collection wonderfully!

Oh, and: RAT THREAD!

I'm pretty sure that's not a mouse.....I think it may be a gerbil.

I know that's splitting hairs, but . . .

My parents had a cat that was friends with a skunk. Not fun when your leaving the house in the morning and theres a skunk waiting on the porch. Luckily, the cat never stunk.

My girlfriend has a picture of my rat trying to drink my beer on her cellphone. It's the only remaining photo of said rat. I wasn't as friendly as this cat.

Yeah looks like a young rat to me.
Mice are cuter.
Though the situation is adorable.

Grrard - "Well he is ginger so I guess that automatically means he's mildly retarded."

RLOL! Grrard, that's a good one. For some reason I seem to attract ginger cats, and every one of them was as sweet as can be, and as dumb as a box of hammers.

Sammy, my current ginger, would have rode the short bus to school if he was human. He's dyslexic, too.
