So, then... "open system," eh?

Does that mean others are free to mount Helen, as long as they're cool with the lifestyle?

/groovy, man!

Am I the only one who thinks that "Stitch" from "Lilo and Stitch" looks like a demon kept happy on prozac?

In case anyone was wondering what this means, it means that lava could be coming out of Mt. St. Helens for the next couple of decades.

The 'good' news is that there is not much around that area and the lava isn't coming out in huge amounts. The very good news is that this type of volcano is much less likely to go BOOM. All in all more of a 'nifty' than an 'everybody panic'.

Sounds like the optimal situation to me. Slow release is much better than fast release when dealing with assorted "acts of god." That's part of the reason I'm glad every time we have an earthquake in California. Let off that steam a little at a time instead of sinking us into the ocean all at once.

/Also, they're fun.

Mt. St. Helens / Kelso-Longview (closest town): 35 miles west
MSH / Portland-Vancouver: 40 miles south
Crater orientation: North
This is just what it takes to build that cone back up. Nothing more.

Stitch is on I-5?
Well, at least he isn't stuck on an island with no large cities.

/subby earned a gold star with that headline.
//L&S is the best Disney flick since Lion King.
