PirateKing: bummer about the family plan.

Awesome.

I wonder if all of the numbers will have a 486 area code.

Best headline of the day.

Great headline. But I don't think it deserves an asinine plan. What is wrong with supporting planned parenthood by signing up for their cell phone service?

I hear you get a free coupon for "pork" stir fry with every contract.

nicley done.

ExJerseyGirl: What is wrong with supporting planned parenthood by signing up for their cell phone service?

That's a good point. We don't want a bunch of back-alley plan cancellations with people using coathangers to get rid of unwanted cell phone contracts.

2007-02-22 2:58:47 PM
A+ headline, subby. Stand tall and proud.

2007-02-22 2:59:30 PM
At least PP has a termination plan. Their competition has an 18-year minimum contract (which usually extends to 25-30 if you don't watch the fine print).

2007-02-22 2:59:58 PM
LOL. thanks for the headline, first good laugh i've had all day.

2007-02-22 3:01:44 PM
Order now and we'll send you our free abortion kit, complete with coathanger!

Why is Orihime socking herself in the gut as Chad looks on dumbstruck?!?!?!

i'm only a dubbie, that scene is NOT ringing a bell.

Best headline all week. Best thread comments all week too.

But it's interesting to see that PP is doing something like this, considering what a flop other 'branded' cell services have turned out to be.

2007-02-22 3:03:04 PM
Sorry Nabb1 I didn't see you beat me to it

2007-02-22 3:03:12 PM
BTW, there is good comic potential for that protest image on the site, for those of you into that sort of thing.

oh, and Uryu too.

I think the "asinine" tag is misplaced though. Lots of non-profits provide services in order to raise funds. f'rinstance, Ben and Jerry's "save the earch" foundation is affilliated with some kind of long distance service, a US national gay/les org offers a visa card where some of the interest you pay goes to the organisation, etc.

2007-02-22 3:05:03 PM
Can you hear me now?

/Well played Subbie.
//Boo on the tag though.

Planned Parenthood. Killing babies has never been so convenient.

"But it's interesting to see that PP is doing something like this, considering what a flop other 'branded' cell services have turned out to be."

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll kill this program while its still in its infancy. If the cell service doesn't work out for the customer, can you go to plan B?

/Pun, pick and a pocket.

2007-02-22 3:09:19 PM
Good news though. If you read the fine print, the contracts only last for 40 weeks, with an option for 18 more years.

2007-02-22 3:10:09 PM
Why is there a family plan? The fetus can't call from the trash bin.

2007-02-22 3:12:36 PM
I like how it's more expensive to cancel your cell phone service during the two-year contract period than to have them perform D&C on a 12-week fetus. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

2007-02-22 3:16:03 PM
I'm sorry, but that head line should be one of the Headline of the Year nominees for this year. Good job, it made me do a double take.

/We're all go'an to hell for that one!
//Thank you, today I'll be your pilot, please enjoy the trip.

I disagree. It's a horrible way for a nonprofit to raise funds. It goes like this: you might not want to give us anything directly, which would be deductible on your taxes and such, so why don't you consider overpaying for some service so that a small percentage will come our way?

It's win-win for the charity and the service provider, but it shafts their donors.

For anyone with qualms about the United Way (or the chief offender, the Jimmy Fund), this is a racket, plain and simple.

/Heh heh, I said "shafts"!

2007-02-22 3:17:41 PM
I'd support Planned Parenthood if they were as proactive about helping kids get birth control as they are about abortion. They pass up prime opportunities in my area to spread the word.

2007-02-22 3:19:26 PM
Nice headline

SUBBY IS A THIEF!

Stolen from today's Taranto:

" Working Assets, "a progressive phone company" offers "The Right Choice That Supports Choice":

Planned Parenthood Wireless is a new choice for your cell phone service. By signing up for this service, you will help preserve reproductive rights, and ensure access to comprehensive family planning and medically accurate sex education for women and families around the world. You'll do something you do every day--talk on your cell phone--and you'll be helping Planned Parenthood as 10% of all monthly charges goes to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, at no extra cost to you.

Just make sure you're prepared to stick with it for the duration of the contract. We hear those early-termination fees can be murder."

2007-02-22 3:20:47 PM
You. Sick. Bastich.

/laughing hard
//good thing boss is at lunch

Subby is going to hell. And I'm gonna be right next to him/her for my LOL.

2007-02-22 3:22:06 PM
The headline is eerily similar to today's blurb on OpinionJournal's Best of the Web "Just make sure you're prepared to stick with it for the duration of the contract. We hear those early-termination fees can be murder."
