Been there, done that. Best 3 beer buzz I ever had!

2007-02-16 12:55:50 PM
I love how people get all pissy over this. Just shows that some people can't stand others having a good time. Drink on!

Ric Romero reporting?

2007-02-16 1:01:05 PM
Twice that year she drank the same night she gave plasma. She once blacked out after about three drinks, she said.

"I don't remember anything," she said. "I opened my eyes in a bathroom on the West Bank, and I was puking. I don't remember anything from the hour to an hour-and-a-half long walk home."

Why would you want to cause that effect? Getting drunk is only fun if you stay conscious.

2007-02-16 1:05:35 PM
You can get PAID to donate plasma, then use the money to get drunk faster. Amateurs!

2007-02-16 1:08:02 PM
They push the plasma donating thing to local college kids around here very hard. A lot of my friends do it.

Yes, because God knows watching some poor co-ed being hauled out of a bar unconscious on a strecher by EMT's while getting her stomach pumped on the run is such a laugh riot to behold. Ass.

If you're drinking to have fun with your friends, no problem. If you're drinking to get drunk, you're a f*cking alcoholic. Drunk friends are like toddlers... they sound fun, until you see what kind of mess they leave behind.

2007-02-16 1:11:00 PM
Sounds like a win/win situation for everyone.

2007-02-16 1:11:18 PM
The phlebotomist at the Red Cross tells me every time I give blood that I should double up on fluids the next couple days.

I fail to see the problem.

MasterThief: If you're drinking to have fun with your friends, no problem. If you're drinking to get drunk, you're a f*cking alcoholic.

The majority of times these two things are the same thing.

If you want an out of body experience, try donating blood and then playing a soccer match in 95 degree heat four hours later. Add beer on top of that, and you would probably found a new religion.

2007-02-16 1:18:34 PM
Duh. Why else would we give blood in college? Made us more of a cheap date... not that some of us really needed to be any cheaper... hrm.

2007-02-16 1:23:03 PM
I give blood every two months, and as soon as I come home, I crack open beer. I love it :)

And guys like cheap dates.

MasterThief,

If you're drinking to have fun with your friends, no problem. If you're drinking to get drunk, you're a f*cking alcoholic.

First, allow me to say that I'm sorry none of the cool kids would let you go to their parties in college.

Second, I'll volunteer myself as an alcoholic because sometimes I love nothing more than to sit back on a Saturday afternoon and get hammered while playing Neverwinter Nights.

2007-02-16 1:24:49 PM
Hell, I start drinking before they even pull out the drain.

2007-02-16 1:36:23 PM
Hey, when you're on a shoestring budget, less beers for a bigger buzz just makes sound financial sense.

Alcohol is a diuretic. It causes you to excrete more water. (Which is why you piss twice as often when you've been drinking.)

Dusk-You-n-Me: The majority of times these two things are the same thing.

If you can't remember the night, you had too much to drink. And it's a short step from drinking with your friends, to needing a drink before going out with your friends, and then just staying home and drinking by yourself because you turn into an asshole when you drink and no one wants to be around you. And then your life really starts to suck.

2007-02-16 1:41:57 PM
Did it all the time when I was in school. Sometimes we'd get the Red Cross ladies to keep hemostats on the tubes and release them at one time so we could race and see who filled up the pint bag first. Loser had to buy the first round.

2007-02-16 1:44:45 PM
MasterThief,

Alcohol is a diuretic. It causes you to excrete more water. (Which is why you piss twice as often when you've been drinking.)

You failed at fun, you failed at partying, and now you fail at sarcasm.

This isn't a horse race, dude. The triple crown isn't a good thing.

2007-02-16 1:47:03 PM
For the best buzz, drink the blood of a drunk person who has just donated blood.

2007-02-16 1:49:42 PM
MasterThief: If you can't remember the night, you had too much to drink.

Blacking out isn't the worst thing in the world. Your behavior while you're blacked out is what is important. I've blacked out before, and cringingly asked my buddies the next day how I was and every time it was, "You were fine. You talked a lot, but that was about it." It's been a long time since I've blacked out, and I don't go out and drink to black out. Sometimes the night just takes you there.

And it's a short step from drinking with your friends, to needing a drink before going out with your friends, and then just staying home and drinking by yourself because you turn into an asshole when you drink and no one wants to be around you. And then your life really starts to suck.

Short step for who? I used to drink alone a lot. Why? Because I lived alone. Sometimes I just wanted to drink and chill out, sometimes it was to save money later at the bar.

You may turn into an asshole when you drink, and that sucks. But I don't turn into one. I've had many years of drinking experience and I'm fortunate enough to be a good drunk.

It sounds like you know your limits and have had a bad experience or two, and that's a good thing. A lot of these young college kids don't know their limits and do act like jackasses. But it takes a bad night or two to learn about one's drinking abilities and limits. And that's what college is all about. Well, other than those pesky classes.

In this case it's more like a cliff. Of everyone I knew at ago 20 who drank to get drunk, rather than just buzzed/loose; every single one of them either swore off drinking entirely by 30 or has serious problems now.

I don't normally say this but theres a distinct possibility I'm wrong as I haven't made it to 30 yet... We shall see.

/Drinks to get drunk
//Never drinks alone

how YOU doin'?
/what are ya drinking?

2007-02-16 2:55:54 PM
Yup. I had friends who believed too heavily in karma. They gave the blood: good. Use of the lack of blood to quickly rocket their BAC: bad.

2007-02-16 3:15:29 PM
Seeing that about 4-5 hours after I gave blood (for the last time, mind you), I passed out in a restaurant and then went for an ambulance ride to the hospital where they kept me overnight, it's not something I would recommend doing.

Then again, I'm a lot older and "wiser".

Eat More Possum: Loser had to buy the first round.

That's hilarious.

AuntofDogface: went for an ambulance ride to the hospital where they kept me overnight

That sucks. Hopefully they didn't have to give you a blood transfusion or all of your effort was wasted.

SchlingFo: You failed at fun, you failed at partying, and now you fail at sarcasm.

You just have to know your limitations. Eat something before you go out. Drink caffeinated beverages in between beers or shots. Limit yourself to one or two drinks an hour. Don't drive. Simple shiat like that.

2007-02-16 4:40:26 PM
So everybody wins!

I think what the submitter is referring to is known at the University of Arkansas as "Friday Night."

I'm unclear what the difference is between those two actions.

No it isn't.

2007-02-16 4:43:08 PM
MasterThief :

Hey ass, getting drunk is fun with friends too.

But that doesnt imply that you need to get soooo drunk you blackout, there is a difference.

By your high and mighty standards damn near every college student is an alcoholic , because they dont just drink and have a couple, they do so to get drunk

2007-02-16 4:45:15 PM
Back in college days, I had a routine where I would go for a swim, drink 3 Triple X, and then hit the campus bar.

Aye caramba

2007-02-16 4:45:31 PM
I did it once when I was like 18. 3 beers never went so far. I can honestly say I wouldn't want to do it again. I could see being blacked out after 6 beers, and being the alcoholic that I am, I'd drink those 6 beers anyway.

2007-02-16 4:45:37 PM
Hmmm. We did that at K-State in 1979. You would have too if you were in the middle of Kansas in 1979. Didn't have to go to the hospital, though. Not that I remember, anyway...

/went to KU too.
//ended up graduating from DeVry.
///Except DeVry has a lousy football team.
////"The Fighting Calculators"
//Slashtacular

Whats wrong with blacking out once in a few?

I look at it as my god-given right.

2007-02-16 4:47:20 PM
MN Daily is lame.

only if you have an addictive personality. i drink to get drunk, i've blacked out a bunch, and yet i never feel compelled to buy alcohol. in fact, i can go months at a time without even thinking about drinking it.

i swear, people are trying to make EVERYTHING into alcoholism these days...i had buddies who had to go to the military's mandatory alcoholism thing because they got a DUI. apparently having a DUI makes you an alcoholic (although some would just call you an idiot). apparently having more than 3 drinks at a time means you're an alcoholic (why the hell would you have less than 3 drinks? it's not like alcohol is delicious, the only purpose of drinking it is to get drunk), etc.

and thanks for reminding me about donating plasma, i used to do that all the time down in flagstaff. had to do it for money for food before i got my first paycheck...it's fun for them to tell you you have to eat before you can donate, even though you need the money from donating so that you can eat.

2007-02-16 4:50:05 PM
It's even more fun if you do a double apherisis donation. Heck, I can get a good buzz out of a cigarette after those.

/ not actually a good buzz.

2007-02-16 4:50:56 PM
Omg... people are so farking stupid!

2007-02-16 4:51:14 PM
Back in 2003 I did my own little version of an "Iron Man":

-Donated blood during lunch.
-Went bowling after work with some coworkers...had 4-5 beers and 2 cigars.
-Still managed to hit the gym and put in an hour on the eliptical machine.

Then there was the time I was in Vegas, had lunch at Ruth's Chris, polished off a bottle of red wine, had a double bourbon and a cigar, and still managed an hour long cardio workout.

/Didn't donate blood that time, though.

2007-02-16 4:51:44 PM
I admit it- I definitely did this all throughout college. You're doing something good, and saving money!

2007-02-16 4:52:07 PM
Hey, I've done this.. ahh the memories.

Weird...I did the exact same thing in college, except I was drinking wine coolers, not beer.

"As soon as the needle's out of my arm, I'm out the door," Rodriguez said. "The rest of the night's a good one."

If he's donated plasma that week, Rodriguez, who is unemployed,

His phone's going to be ringing off the hook with people offering this brain surgeon a job. Hey he sells blood to get drunk, GET THAT GUY WORKING FOR ME!
