DOesn't EVERY storm in the US get national media attention nowadays?

Weather forecasts are all the same now: well its going to be 60F, slight wind and we are ALL GOING TO DIE!!

2007-02-14 10:27:26 PM

Its mainly because NYCers are complete pussies when it comes to the weather.
I remember when NY made a HUGE deal about the low dropping to 0F. Try a week where the high below zero.

nm: I remember when NY made a HUGE deal about the low dropping to 0F. Try a week where the high below zero.

It being that cold is a problem for the literally Millions of people who walk to work/school/whatever every day in NYC. I view the newsworthiness of an event by how many people it affects.

Regardless, we're NY and we're the most important city in the world... duh?

GLOBAL WARMING IS A biatch, AIN'T IT?

Same shiat happened last summer when temps reached above 100 degrees there.

If it's not happening in NYC, who cares!

An Al Gore nightmare---the man is a joke. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Don't preach "global warming" when there is a blizzard outside, asshole.

2007-02-14 11:36:04 PM
Meh. OMG snow. Never seen that before in February. Stop the presses. Retards.

You don't know what anecdotal evidence is, do you?

The snow terrorists have won.

2007-02-14 11:39:05 PM

I work for global warming and I'm finding all these people pretending to know what they are talking about quite funny. If you don't have first hand evidence of Global Warmings plans like I do please go DIAF.

All hail overlord Gore!

University of Illinois got a snow day for the first time since 1977 apparently... (Two actually). But no one cares about us. :-P

2007-02-14 11:43:13 PM
ComicBookGuy,

Anecdotal evidence like blaming Katrina and the 2005 hurricane season on global warming was convenient.

Anecdotal evidentce like no major hurricanes in 2006 was inconvenient (thus ignored).

Anecdotal evidence like having to cancel a congressional Global Warming conference due to a blizzard is farking hilarious.

Hat, gloves, even half-decent coat, 0F is no problem to walk in. Hell, some of my friend regularaly go on runs in sub-0 weather. Yes, and that with a windchill to -20s.
Seriously, NYCers love nothing more than to biatch to everyone else about how "bad" thier weather is.
Chicago is also very large, has many people walking, and is colder, and yet somehow everyone lives without national media attention.
0F in LA, that would be media worthy

Ummm, the article mentions everywhere from the Midwest to the Northeast. Submitter apparently doesn't have very good reading comprehension skills.

You're an idiot.

roncofooddehydrator: The headline is because the storm went by here 2-3 days ago, and it's just now grabbing nightly news attention.

Sorta "Oh yea, it affected the Midwest too."

2007-02-14 11:49:35 PM
Just like heating of the Earth causes the weather (cold, hot, hurricane, blizzard) Global warming doesn't just increase the temperature.

2007-02-14 11:52:07 PM
Please focus blame on the media. I live and work in NYC and I don't care if it makes national news that it's cold. (it's not even that cold) To be fair, most of the winter the bad weather news has been about the rest of the nation. Heck just this week upstate New York got ELEVEN FEET of snow.

2007-02-14 11:52:51 PM
Oh NYC is the center of the world anyway.

To reiterate...

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT'S COLD AND SNOWING IN FEBRUARY!!!11!

If it snows one more day in Denver I'm going to lose my already twisted mind...and I used to live in North Dakota for Jeebus' sake.

NJ didn't get the 'State of Emergency' I'd hoped for. This meant I had to work, which completely farking sucked due to ice, sleet and snow compacted on the roads.

Global warmer makes like the French.

I'm so tired of seeing all these Farkers haning on to every word of Algore's like it's made of gold or something. He makes a movie, and suddenly, it's fact. Oh no, global warming is going to kill us all!111oneoneoneOMG!! It's sad when an ""intellectual"" like Algore can be proven wrong by simple observation. I mean, last week was the coldest it's been in a few years. So libtards, can you stop shoving this "global warming" crap down our throats. It's annoying when every single weather thread consists of all of you flocking to a few doctored statistics and bogus conclusions. We should be more worried about global cooling, anyway. I had to shovel two feet of snow out of my driveway today. That's much more snow then I've seen in quite a few years.SO, please, pull your collective heads out of your asses and just think about this "global warming" crap for a few seconds. I know it might take a little bit longer for your 'No Child Left Behind' educated-brains to catch up, but trust me, you'll thank me later.

2007-02-15 12:15:47 AM
You ignorant farkers. The snow is melting in Argentina, and you sit in your momma's basement and fiddle with your dicks. I am a paid representative of the fat one, and I hope you all rot in hell while global warming changes your climate.

Come July, you'll be sorry there's no snow because of ExxonMobilBPConocoHalliburtonCheneyBushTelcoWMDWTO, you scumbags!

FTA:

"Best day of the year," snowboarder Willie Bozack, 28, of Moretown, Vermont, said outside the base lodge at Sugarbush Resort. "It's epic."

Anyone else think this was funny as hell?

2007-02-15 12:57:23 AM
Either that or the media ran out of astronauts and dead washed-up sluts to report on.

2007-02-15 1:08:29 AM
We have a warm late November and December in Montreal and it's all the media can do to talk about the enviornment and global warming. We've now had 5 consecutive weeks of below average temperatures and not a single story mentioning it.

2007-02-15 1:29:03 AM
I'm actually emitting greenhouse gases as I read this, so I'm getting a real kick out of all of these replies.

To all those who think Global warming means it's never cold.....sigh......please for the love of God, educate yourself. You should know what Global Warming means by now. Here: http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0130-11.htm

It's called "winter"
Look it up sometime...

kbotc: Sorta "Oh yea, it affected the Midwest too."

Well, if the day should ever come that the Midwest matters, then I'm sure their inclement weather will also make the news.
