Owls are surly. My brother-in-law's father was attacked by an owl--gave my brother-in-law a childhood phobia of raptors.

"I was really shaken up. It was like something out of Harry Potter - I thought it was going to pick me up!"

Um, yeah and the US gets pegged for being nothing but idiots.

Does this guy think that owls are magical beasties that can pick up creatures that weigh several times what they weigh? Or maybe he thinks the Harry Potter movies are real?

Sounds like a great owl for a trip to the taxidermist.

"It set up home on the roof of Middlesbrough train station in September - but turned nasty over Christmas"

Maybe it didn't get any pressies.

"I was really shaken up. It was like something out of Harry Potter - I thought it was going to pick me up! I went home and called police, but I think they thought I was drunk."

Well if you thought the owl could pick you up and carry you away then yes, you were drunk.

"...phobia of raptors."

I have a fear of velociraptors myself. Good thing I've never had to face up to my phobia.

The other day I was excited to see a great horned owl perched on a building. Then I realized (slowly) that it was just one of those pigeon-scaring statues, proving that my brain ability ranks slightly under that of a pigeon.

He recalled: "I heard a loud woo-woo noise and looked over my shoulder to see this creature with silver wings, claws stretched out.

How hard is it to club a giant owl? Bigger than a baseball. Just broom handle it's wing and you'll have trophy.

gimpols1908, kudos on the Python reference. I just soiled my armour!

seriously tho, could this be a rabid owl?

Had the requested 8-foot Menorah been erected, there would have been no attacks starting around Christmas.

Does the owl have large talons?

God has sent the great owl to chastise us. It will go when the brits refrain from adding the letter "u" to words that do not require the letter - such as "humor" and "neighbor".

Good thing they have a giant owl to save them from the foxes and small deer that are now attacking them.

LOL!

That owl is on the warpath.

I saw Orly Owl on a roadsign on Shawnee Run in Indian Hill last July. Bet the Rangers were P*SSED! Ha-Ha.

Eagle Owl? Those eggs were a LIE. They gave me no nutrients!

What does it say about a culture - the thing that terrorizes them?

In Mexico, there's some alien goat-sucking thing that is small but quick and mysterious. In the US, sasquatch is a hairy, larger-than-human beastie. The Brits? They run from owls.

Look on the bright side, you're perfectly happy with nothing more than a bag of seed or some bread crumbs!
