Honky if you love the Jeffersons.
2006-12-22 12:48:40 PM
Well at least the 'other' Lionel is still alive.

/I think.
//I didnt even REALIZE there was another Lionel
///And I watched the show.
////Guess they all looked alike to me.

More importantly, he created Good Times. The young son Michael on that show represented Evans himself. (In fact, the character's name was Michael Evans.)

It's funny, but as a dirt-poor white kid in the '70s, I felt a much closer kinship with the people on Good Times, Sanford & Son, etc. than with the white-bread moppets on The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family.

the other Lionel was sooooooo lame
2006-12-22 01:15:51 PM
Sad. His last role was on "Walker, Texas Ranger"? Too bad he had to go out on such a low note.
2006-12-22 01:17:55 PM
1)He was the BEST 'Lionel' EVAH!

2)Last appearence with CHUCK NORRIS?!?!??

Can it get much better?

"Don't condemn a whole group of people based on the actions of a few. That's good advice, Mr. Bunker!"

Goodnight, funny man.

It's not Sherman Helmsley, is that why I can't find a damn picture? Even the IMDB doesn't have one
2006-12-22 01:42:58 PM

2006-12-22 01:46:54 PM

2006-12-22 02:00:13 PM about Bernie from Room 222?

/Best white guy afro ever
//Well, then there's Don Brewer from Grand Funk Railroad
2006-12-22 02:48:56 PM

I always considered him better known as the creator of good times.

But then I liked good times more than the jeffersons.

MMmmmmm. Thelma.
2006-12-22 03:14:30 PM
You think he got with Thelma?

Any best afro on tv list that doesn't include Coolidge from "The White Shadow" is an incomplete list IMO.
2006-12-22 03:44:07 PM
I had no idea he wrote for Good Times! I'll dedicate my next Jeffersons marathon in his honor.

2006-12-22 03:53:29 PM
The best afro on tv was Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington from Welcome Back Kotter. And Juan Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos Epstein (from the same show) deserves honorable mention.

mick e appreciated that he was willing to go with the "egg-shape" afro. A bold and distinctive decision stylistically. Unfortunately, the impeccable coif proved to be his professional undoing in typecast.

We got to ask ourselves who would benifit from his death? We should see where Lamont Sanford has been hiding!

2006-12-22 05:47:01 PM
He's half white but that means he's half alright.

Wait, that's Alan, the zebra.
2006-12-22 10:17:37 PM
Best afro evar Oscar Gamble
2006-12-22 11:46:45 PM
Did he ever achieve his ambition to study and become a 'lectical engineeh?

/Sad when a celebrity younger than yourself dies.

//Though not as sad as some alternatives.
2006-12-23 01:32:22 AM
I'd rather be dead than live in Twentynine Palms anyway.
2006-12-23 09:52:54 AM
Ugh, i lived there for a year. I hear you, Yamasu.
2006-12-23 04:57:34 PM
Damn throat cancer causing mentholated grape flavored pencils!
