Did they not allow it on the plane because it would not fit through the X-Ray machine?

If so the reasoning seems logical.

2006-12-12 3:29:35 PM
And if it gets broken in baggage, they will just get him another one, right????

2006-12-12 3:29:46 PM
Just because he is an athlete doesn't mean he is exempt from the rules everyone else has to follow.

Ship it insured. If it gets lost, then you will get some money, which is more then you will get out of it just sitting on a shelf in your mansion. It's not as if people won't believe you when you tell them you won the heisman.

I heard on the news here (Columbus, Ohio) that he had it shipped because he didn't want it to get bent up like Eddie George's did when he brought it on the plane with him.

Tina Fey mentioned in an interview on Conan a while back that she thought it was odd for her to be allowed to bring an Emmy on a plane - since it's all pointy in parts... Guess it was pre-liquidation scare.

2006-12-12 3:31:24 PM
Maybe they were worried because there weren't any bigten fans on the plane to coddle his ego and convince him he doesn't play in an inferior conference. OSU fans are the worst (think philly bad) On January 8th, I'm a gator fan.

Something like that happened before with Leinart and J-White; don't know about Bush last year.

pretty sure it won't fit in the overhead.

Airport Security was probably a Florida fan.

Feh...I just want the Minnesota Gophers to get to the Rose Bowl just ONCE in my lifetime...

(And the Vikings to win a SB??)

Is that too much to ask??

It took two TSA supervisors to finally decide that I had not won my Emmy in some nefarious plot to hijack an airliner and let me carry it on the plane. I was prepared to rent a car and drive home, rather than let the dipshiat baggage handlers put that thing in the bottom of the plane.

I'm sure any smart airline would allow him to put it in the jacket closet.

Thanks TSA, we feel safer.

Well considering I can look in pretty much any sports record or history book and see who won the heisman, what year did you win it?

I tried to submit this with a better headline

Apparently I'm not new since it wasn't allowed on the plane and he had to follow the rules just like everyone else.

FilmBELOH20

I love it how you just HAD to mention that you won an Emmy.

2006-12-12 3:41:48 PM
So you are Troy Smith then Serpent_Sky?

That's very interesting.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure if you meet a heisman winner, he isn't going to have to show you the trophy for you to know that he won it. It's historical record, it's not as if they just hand it out and don't document it anywhere.

TSA employees are 'tards. I just laugh at them when I go through security. I imagine them in big autism helmets. HUUUUURRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

/is that a bar of soap or a bomb? I dunno!!!!!! Go kill yourselves TSA employees

2006-12-12 3:42:40 PM
'hehad to follow the rules like anyone else' - what does that mean? Does the TSA have rules about bringing award trophies onboard?

It's ok, he can pay to have it properly shipped with his booster money.

It really sucked.

I don't blame him for wanting to take it with him... if they put it down below they'd lose it.

2006-12-12 3:45:20 PM
I wouldn't get too down on TSA screeners, they only make about $10-12 an hour. You aren't exactly going to get the cream of the crop at that pay scale.

I have no idea what you have against the fine folks at The Search Agency, but I know some of them and can assure you that they are fine people.

No, I know... I was joking in the first place, because obviously you wouldn't believe me if I said I won a heisman. :)

I wouldn't even know if I met a heisman winner, to be honest.

farking right you better be thanking Homeland security. Could you imagine what this guy could do? What if he went crazy and you were a mile up in the air with him? you wouldn't want him to be carying a big hunk of medal around would you?
