Who would want that? After all the beer the mods have spilled on it, I am surprised it still works. It might make a good paper weight.

/just kidding

FTA:

This is Fark.com's original mail server. This was also our static image web server (img.fark.com) for many years. We had it in production from 2002 until last week, when we moved to a faster system.

Clifton FTW!

2006-12-05 08:52:28 PM
I wouldn't deal with this seller. All the feedback is from auctions where this user has bought things from.

Try selling some postcards or collectible Transformers before you start "moving" the big items.

2006-12-05 08:52:58 PM
Sell it to Blizzard.

2006-12-05 08:53:05 PM
I'm willing to bid big if this is for charity.

Info please?

2006-12-05 08:53:09 PM
i wonder if it will get one of those 19 mil bids like the ps3....

2006-12-05 08:53:09 PM
This will not end well.

2006-12-05 08:53:24 PM
Come on, GoldenPalace.com!

2006-12-05 08:53:52 PM
WHAT! No authentic tin logo plate of the Fark squirrel with large nuts on it under the well known Fark logo! Okay I call fake on this! ;->

Everyone KNOWS a true Fark server has the Fark logo and then Ballsy the Fark nutsack squirrel on it with the words "That's a lot of nuts!" in italic letters under it. ;->

2006-12-05 08:53:56 PM
I hope I win one of these auctions so I can leave feedback on it, something like, "A+++++ highly recommended! will fark again!

You know, you can get those things in Korea, cheap.

2006-12-05 08:56:22 PM
That mail server case is my favorite case ever. So simple and easy to work with. I'd almost buy it just for the case.

2006-12-05 08:56:24 PM
dcigary: That belongs in a museum!

Winner!

2006-12-05 08:57:10 PM
Congrats on moving up in the world, guys. Keep it comming, I think I'd have less control over my sanity without Fark.

I'm no expert or anything, but I've seen eBay rip down an auction if it even mentions that any percentage of the proceeds go to charity, because it cannot verify if the claim is true or not. If Drew's gonna donate to charity, he'll have to say so here, but I don't know if even *that* might violate eBay's terms.

The HP DL380 (all generations) server has got to be my favorite server to work on. If you can do Lego, you can unpiece and piece it in 5 minutes.

/same goes with most of their DL
//except for the shiatty DL145s

2006-12-05 08:59:42 PM
Damnet...would have won the auction for $2 but you jerky's had to outbid me! w t f! I think we should conspire to keep the auction price low, and by conspire I mean let me win.

2006-12-05 09:00:28 PM
The DL320's last forever. We still have quite a few in the DC I work in.

I want the router.
I haven't had a Cisco at home since I had ISDN.
It was an 804 and I learned the joys of IOS from it.

I was talking about the clone tower case. Fark HP/Compaq. Sorry, easily my least favorite computer company.

/but that rack case may very well be nice, but I'm not familiar with it

And the company that E-Bay works with to take care of the bidding for charity takes a larger than necessary cut. F- them.

2006-12-05 09:06:17 PM
6 more days of this. Sheesh.

No I remember why I quit going to EBay.

2006-12-05 09:06:43 PM
Yeah, bourbon did one one of the nicer "cheap" cases out there. I have an old Duron in one myself. But the new boxes we got are even easier to work on -- but then most 1U boxes are :)

(shameless plug: I have some Cisco stuff of my own (not Fark's) for sale too, just not yet on eBay... an 827 and a Catalyst 2916.)

2006-12-05 09:07:25 PM
Oh, I just realized you were just telling me about your favorite case, not any one specifically in the auctions. Heh. The rack case is just a clone case as well. I do recognize it.

Not familiar with the HP case you're referring to. If it's not ATX standard, I try to avoid it. (even though my current company uses HP. blech.)

2006-12-05 09:07:53 PM
I also here on a more secret website they're selling the Ultra...

+++NO CARRIER+++

I think I see the problem with the memory...

[image from site167.webhost4life.com too old to be available]

Sheeez.... Brand name memory is pretty cheap nowadays, guys...

2006-12-05 09:11:01 PM
Ninjawitch, FARK's "Squirrel With Nuts" builder's plate is banned under E-Bay's "reflect-o-porn" policy. Drew had to pry it off with a churchkey before those photos were taken

correcting DCIGary's image

My work here is done

2006-12-05 09:12:52 PM
Kingston isn't name-brand memory?
