Actually, "pitching" and "catching" refers to gay sex. Go to any gay resort town and you will see tons of T-shirts for sale that have cheesy clip art graphics titled Pitcher or Catcher.

The fact that someone put a woman in the poster and used these terms with straight people makes absolutely no sense.

This makes about as much sense as one guy saying he's going to perform cunnilingus on another guy. It just doesn't make any sense.

Dumbfark ad person who came up with that poster should receive a little UFIA for such a stupid idea.

Number one, change whoever is teaching her literary analysis. Whoever it is is doing her a disservice, as she's reading way too far into things.

She did have one good point: the slogan refers to pitching and catching while the picture showed a catcher and a batter. The poster designer obviously does not understand the concept of consistency.

She, however, does not understand the concept of perspective. There is a lot of sexism out there, often brutally expressed (female circumcision or sharia law, anyone?), but she's busy whining about a frigging safe sex poster! If it had said, "Guys, wear a condom or that filthy whore will give you AIDS!" I could see her point. As it is, she needs to get hit with the reality stick.
