When I lived in Maryland, nobody called it that.

Not that it'll happen, but wouldn't it be nice if the dems now put it back at Baltimore-Washington International? It was bloody amazing how many things republicans managed to get named after Reagan.

Nope. "Reagan International" is what was previously (and still by many people) known as Baltimore-Washington International.

I grew up in Baltimore and never once called it or heard it called anything other than BWI.

Taking the high road, ever heard of that? You know, a press conference and say

"We understand and forgive the airport, the company and the passengers that created this situation. We understand that in America, Muslims have to explain who they are, what their beliefs are so that situations like that won't happen in the future. Us muslims, we pray 5 times a day, everyday under any circumstances. If you see muslim men praying and you might be afraid of what it means, just come to us and address us nicely, it will be a pleasure for us to explain to you what we're doing and avoid any other embarassing situations like this. Peace on you all"

You do have a point. I guess that peaceful protest is a good thing, it's just that no protest, a stiff-uper-lips highroad would have been the best solution altogether

National = "Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport" and is in Virginia. Everyone calls it "National" except for Republicans who like to see Democrats roll their eyes and/or cringe when they hear the Gipper's name.

Dulles = "Washington Dulles International Airport" and is in Virginia. Everyone calls it "Dulles."

BWI = "Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport" and is in Maryland. No one has ever called it "Thurgood Marshall" or "Marshall" except on the day it was dedicated.

Nope. Reagan is what was previously know as National Airport. BWI is still BWI and Dulles is still Dulles.

The best part about the fabulous new name was when the Republican controlled Congress tried to force Metro to rename it on all of their signs by threatening to withholding funding to the agency. Metro just wanted money to pay for the change, but the Repubs didn't take kindly to that kind of talk. The name of the "Man Who Killed Communism and Saved the Universe" has been showing up on quite a few things in this town in the last few years.

/not touching the actual topic with a ten foot pole

Prior to 2004 - Baltimore Washington International - After - Thurgood Marshall BWI
