Another personal style. Not sure what to call it, but I like to set up shots that are serious from a technical standpoint, but with subject matter that is unexpected. Kind of like I took all this time and effort to set up a very serious photograph, but it's anything but serious. I also have a thing for shallow depth of field and bokeh, so this photo gets at that. This photo has also been compared to the wildlife photography of Moose Peterson, but I don't see him doing too much bug porn....

Do I have a style? I don't think so. My highest vote getters, including both contests I won, have all been taken at my house, so maybe home sweet home is my style. But, I like black and white even though its not popular. I went all black and white, or focal black and white tonight. All shots are from home.

In my life, I have five personal styles of photography that I occasionally use.

Since this one covers three styles, I'll be brief. First off is my favorite photo aspect ratio, 2.35:1, used by many famous film directors like Stephen Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, and Martin Scorsese. Then we have a bored kid (kids are No. 2) waiting for her chicken teriyaki order (No. 3 is food) from Sarku Japan at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD.

Personal style No. 4: I've always seemed to like cars, so it only seems appropriate that I like to photograph them, this one being of an ES330.

My fifth personal style is something I call "Nonsense Photography". It's basically where you take a camera pointed at something, press the shutter, and then move the camera all around somehow; here, I panned the camera across a desk area. There was no Photoshop applied to this photo other than a mild color adjustment, a slight rotation, and a square crop, and I have embedded the EXIF data if you want to verify the photo's authenticity.

long-time exposures, another favourite of mine. I dont envy Daguerre and his motifs, as they had to sit still for minutes. This one didn't take that long, ISO400 and 15 seconds. My parents stood still. The only one who moved was our cat.

Since my right eye was badly damaged in an accident, i like to take pictures of people's eyes in close-up. The settings is always the same, Sigma 300mm in macro mode with focus on min, focusing only by moving myself and the camera. That way the frame size is always the same.

My style: I like the sky (who doesn't), I like putting things off-centre, I like things that look like they've seen better days. Most of all I like the things that nobody else looks at, so I love the fact that the sign is telling you to look somewhere else.

I was crouching inside a rack of bikes in the street to get the angle!
