(Some Cat)   My cat has made a habit of sitting on my router, right over the vent. Is this a big deal or should I be shooing her?   (washingtonblade.com) divider line

I assume the vents are there for a reason, but she seems to like the warmth and, if there is no threat to the device, I haven't the heart to knock her off it. Besides, if she isn't there, she is crawling on the top of my exposed ducts (I have 14' high ceilings and it scares the crap out of me when she is up there).

Said kitty:

Nice router cat

I read that as shooting her....that kinda scared me.

Router and lipstick ... there's a joke in there somewhere, it's just too early to figure it out.

Mine are partial to the top of the monitor. Shouldn't be a problem for you, I don't think routers generate all that much heat.

Yes, me too.

Glue upside-down thumb tacks to it.

nekom: Mine are partial to the top of the monitor.

Hm. I just put my cat on top of my monitor to see if he liked it. Nuh uh.

It may be because he's a fatass.

2006-09-26 10:56:39 AM
That is an adorable picture by the way.

2006-09-26 10:56:49 AM
The problem is the cat hair will clog it up over time. If you clean it somewhat regularly inside you should be OK. Mostly it happens with monitors though

2006-09-26 10:57:32 AM
If you don't want a cat to do something, wait for it to do it, then shoot it in the face with a squirt gun. Works like a charm, every time.

2006-09-26 10:57:45 AM
So if its a big deal, you have no problem with that. If its fine you are going to shoot her?

2006-09-26 10:58:33 AM
I think shooting the cat would be a bit excessive

2006-09-26 10:58:54 AM
I too misread that as shooting...

I'd worry more about your cat's weight on the router.

See, the internet is a series of tubes, and if you compress your router too much, it compresses the tubes, and you won't be getting a fast connection.

2006-09-26 10:59:48 AM
Put an open box somewhere in the room. She'll leave your router alone.

my dad has a hillarious garfield comic strip that is basically this:

scene 1: garfield sitting on a carpet going UMMMMM
scene 2: " " going mmmmmmm
scene 3: Garfield standing up
scene 4: you can see the heating vent he was sitting on top of

My dad has it taped to the wall right above the heating vent where my cat does the exact same thing.

2006-09-26 11:00:12 AM
Probably not a problem so long as you don't mind radiating energy into your cat all day. I mean, really, I hope you don't plan to breed that thing.

2006-09-26 11:00:21 AM
What is your cat's name? My advice hinges on your response.

Liar.

There's no such thing as a "hilarious garfield comic strip".

heliokekaumenos: I read that as shooting her....that kinda scared me.

So did I. I was gonna say, "Meh. Your cat, your ammo."

I have no constructive advice about the router but,
CUTE KITTY!!! Please don't shoot him.

Two of mine vie for keyboard-laying rights, but only when I'm actually at the computer.

Every time I see a PS from you, it's usually fairly funny, dude... this one is no exception.

My late, great kitty, Clyde, would take that as the beginning of playtime. He loved playing in water.

Router cat is watching you masterbate?

Hornwrecker:

I'm able to see the cat's face a little better in your pic; she does have kind of a judgmental look on her face, doesn't she?

2006-09-26 11:09:34 AM
Dammit, I need to refresh before submitting.

2006-09-26 11:10:12 AM
Shoot her? Nah - too messy. One stout cloth bag, some rocks, and a pond. Problem solved.

2006-09-26 11:11:35 AM
stretta - Bravo.

Forget the lipstick. Your kitty needs Burt's Beeswax.

middleoftheday: I'm able to see the cat's face a little better in your pic; she does have kind of a judgmental look on her face, doesn't she?

I decided to push the exposure a bit in PS. When I finally saw the expression, the rest fit. It needs more tweaking, and better fonts/colors,

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because it turned out to be a pretty amusing thread. Some of you farkers are pretty funny.

Just get it to move.
