You mean someone's eternal destiny can depend on Fark headlines? Man--I need to be more careful.

It's in the FArQ.

Section 6.66 Trolling headlines that go green, earn a economy class one way ticket to hell on Handbasjet Airlines, middle seat only.

Damned tired fingers and their typos.

I think EVERYONE needs to just stop making these movies, documentaries, docu-dramas, mini-series, etc. It's irritating that 9/11 has become a week-long mournfest due to television "tributes".

How can you heal if you keep picking at the wound?

Flupid Bloroplope: How can you heal if you keep picking at the wound?

You mean the way everyone in the administration picks at it when they say "9/11... terror... 9/11" several times a week when they need to justify more erosion of our rights and more broken laws?

It isn't film makers and the media that have kept that wound open, infected and sore.

No, they're just the ones who make money off of it every September. Because we must never forget.

"Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore, Fahrenheit 9/11 is an Oscar award-winning and controversial documentary film by American filmmaker and anti-war activist Michael Moore. Synopsis: Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker and liberal firebrand Michael Moore ('Bowling for Columbine') strikes again with this criticism of the Bush administration ..."

ABC has announced the synopsis for it's 2-night, 5-hour movie The Path to 9/11 airing Sunday, September 10 (8:00-11:00 p.m. PT/ET) and Monday, September 11 (8:00-10:02 p.m. [approx.], PT/ET): Note -- This dramatization is based on The 9/11 Commission Report and other published sources and personal interviews. Composite and representative characters and incidents, and time compression have been used for dramatic purposes.

Stuck on stupid, indeed.

So the 9/11 movie that liberals complained about stays but the raygun bio and Moore's movie that the conservatives complained about had to go.

Must be that liberal media at work again.

If cons got nothing to whine about they just invent a liberal boogeyman

"Reagan" aired on HBO, IIRC. F9/11 just found a different distributor. But Clinton's demanding that they axe this movie entirely.

A week long boredom festival.

As soon as some talking head sez the word "terror" i change channels

Is it just me or do there seem to be a whole shiat load of conservative trolls poluting the headlines under the politics tab because of this "Path to 9/11" movie.

Seems to be a whole lot of noise put towards defending this movie.

Yeah it was aired there after crybaby cons had it moved from it's original spot.

That hallucination about the liberal media and the endless conservative whining about it for the last umpteen years never ends.

I know it's hard but try to grow up someday boys

Code_Archeologist: "Seems to be a whole lot of noise put towards defending this movie."

Yeah.

How DARE they.

Why don't they leave fark alone, and let all the smart people who know better enjoy their sundays. And come to think of it, why is Fark greenlighting these bad, bad, bad, bad points of view. This is upsetting 'all the smart people' who know better what is good for America, like you. Whose' "not" a troll. But a smart person. Unlike the bad, bad, bad, bad, bad other peoples ... who are 'trolls.'

/the horror. Can't have another point of view, that goes contrary to yours. Cause that would be bad.

Since BushCo has been in office it is now OK and even expected of people to lie and rationalize.

Just look at the continued support for DeLay... explain that to me?

/Brownie, you are doing a heckuva job!

There's differences between points of view and the facts of whether or not an event happened.

Not if you're a conservative. Then all facts are points of view.

mtman900: "There's differences between points of view and the facts of whether or not an event happened."

Yeah, you get an Oscar.

" But nonetheless, many viewers will leave the movie theater with the impression that the Saudis, thanks to special treatment from the White House, were permitted to fly away when all other planes were still grounded. This false impression is created by Moore's failure, when mentioning Sept. 13, to emphasize that the ban on flights had been eased by then. The false impression is further pushed when Moore shows the singer Ricky Martin walking around an airport and says, "Not even Ricky Martin would fly. But really, who wanted to fly? No one. Except the bin Ladens."

But the movie fails to mention that the FBI interviewed about 30 of the Saudis before they left. And the independent 9/11 commission has reported that "each of the flights we have studied was investigated by the FBI and dealt with in a professional manner prior to its departure."

Not to be too picky, but the Reagan movie aired on Showtime and after several revisions were made to it at the request of the Reagan family.

the_gospel_of_thomas

You showed an example of leaving out some facts, not totaly making up shiat like the 9/11 film does.

I'm very sure there are some facts that the 9/11 film leaves out (otherwise right wingers wouldn't be so hot for it), but that is a totally different issue.

It is a lot different to feel like the film didn't tell you everything rather than the film potraying a fake sceen or dialogue as the truth. Don't you agree?

What was your problem with the Reagan film by CBS?

This flick is generating a lot of controversy so I channel surfed some of the various talking head shows this morning and the common conservative theme is that it was indeed Bill Clintons fault and his fault only that we got hit on 9/11. The sub-theme is when conservatives complained about the CBS Reagan movie that was eventually altered and then shown on Showtime with an after the flick panel discussion, it was a matter of setting things right. Liberals on the other hand are trying to censure an accurate historical representation of factual history.

The one statement that I found most remarkable was the conservative talking head who told the liberal talking head that none of the Clinton administration officials who are complaining about the made up parts of the movie should be taken seriously because Sandy Berger was caught with secret documents in his pants. I believe logic was stretched to a new length on that one.

2006-09-10 2:58:42 PM
the_gospel_of_thomas:Composite and representative characters and incidents, and time compression have been used for dramatic purposes.

When this show says that Sandy Berger (a real person) refused to give specific authorization to the CIA to kill bin Laden (an incident that never happened), that isn't using "composite and representative characters and incidents." That's a libelous statement. Hell, even John Podhoretz (no fan of the Clintons) agrees

The CraneMeister: "Reagan" aired on HBO, IIRC. F9/11 just found a different distributor. But Clinton's demanding that they axe this movie entirely.

Critics of "Reagan" did not ask CBS (or whichever network planned to air it) to move it to Showtime, they demanded that the show be axed. Moving it to Showtime was a "compromise." To use CBS' decision to say that the critics of "Path to 9/11" are more "repressive of speech" than those of "Reagan" is disingenuous and misleading.

If you listen carefully, few of the people claiming that the Reagan movie should have been shiatcanned talk too loudly about free speech rights. It's scary, but at least consistant.

/Actually, 'free speech' doesn't really apply, at least not as a First Amendment right, since the Government is not involved, just private parties and individuals.

By the way, if you want to see all of the lies and distortions in clip form with the lies identified, try this page.
