Puzzling evidence. You'll find it just over the edge.

New in the sense that Orrin Bloquy was publishing a SubGenius zine titled 'obloquy' back in 1995.

New in the sense that The One True Church was putting ads in Robert Crumb's Weirdo magazine in 1982.

Praise Bob.

I heard that Ecoterrorists, controlled by Big Oil, also controlled by the Servants of Cthulhu with the help of the Gnomes of Zurich destroyed the power structure of the SubGenius years ago.

/Yeah that did happen a few games ago
//Priviledged attack FTW

New? Aren't we well past the original x day?

often seen as a "parody" of religious cults

Duh, it IS a parody of religious cults (such as for example, Christianity), and a lot of other things. Did Ric Romero ghost-write this article or what? No explanation of how the Church of the SubGenius is "set to take Hollywood by storm."

This article is the kind of half-witted pink media fluff that SubGenii adore.

The Church of the Subgenius is an "underground" "hipster" satirization of Scientology and other ridiculous beliefs.

/(that has only been around for the past, oh, 20 years or so..)

One of the best pieces I ever saw put together in the name of SubGenii was under an overpass in Pendleton, OR.

Original:
"Jesus Is Our Hope"

Underneath:
"Bob Is Our Hope"
"Jesus Is Our Bob"
and, best:
"Jesus Is Bob Hope"

Wish I came up with that one.

FTA - screw "liberal", the only media bias is "retard/imbecilic:" The organization is widely seen as a satire that mocks organized religion, or as the church describes itself, "a cynisacreligion." It was founded in 1953 by a mysterious figure named J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, whose smiling, pipe-smoking image has been seen worldwide in chip art,

"Chip" art?

Anybody remember the Subgenius shorts on USA network's Night Flight, early 80's? Funny, weird stuff. Wonder if those will show up on YouTube or something... Now that I think about it, I would love to see a lot of that Night Flight stuff again.
