In other news, submitter fails Reading Comprehension 099.

Jesus Christ, learn to f*cking read, submitter.

I thought he came across as fairly sharp yesterday when he said that Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.

This could only get better if the submitter was Dubya himself.

AgeOfReason: I thought he came across as fairly sharp yesterday when he said that Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.

I disagree... He seemed really flustered at admitting that. In fact, he outright lied and said that no one in his administration had made claims like that.

Then he went on to further state that although the two weren't related, the lesson of 9/11 was that the "Bush Doctrine" of unilateral pre-emption was the way to go.

That strikes me about as sharp as a bag of hammers.

If this was submitted by a Republican, the headline actually reinforces the point of the article.

Condensing the Article for the Reading Comprehension Impaired (like Submitter)

Calling Bush an idiot is like beating a dead horse... only its the Republicans who are swinging the sack of door knobs at that decaying nag today... this is being done in an effort to out maneuver the Democrats for the "I hate Bush" demographic.

No, its a new ethanol powered one. I need to get my booze on for it to work properly

Hey, there are actually still a few people out there who don't yet realize the true depth of his dumbassness. A public service ad campaign would probably get the word out better.

As a side note I think W is drinking again. He is about as incoherent as Henry Earl.

Why a Dumbass Tag? Seems more like an Obvious Tag.

I mean majority of the World gets it and Majority of America Gets it.

Could the Submitter be the Dumbass?

I think the Moderator approved of this just so that he can laugh at the stupidity of submitter.

When did someone in his administration claim that Iraq caused 9/11?

Amusing to say the least.

pvd021: I think the Moderator approved of this just so that he can laugh at the stupidity of submitter.

Seems pretty obvious to me that the headline is being sarcastic about how saying Bush is stupid is a bold, daring or unprecedented move.

But I'm not a liberal, so my sense of humor hasn't been cauterized by political correctness either.

Hang On Voltaire: When did someone in his administration claim that Iraq caused 9/11?

I'm not sure if anyone directly said such a thing, I do know they tried to portray Iraq as directly involved and a big player in the world of terrorism, they were portrayed as an imminent threat that needed to be attacked right away.

Directly involved in what?

The farker earlier said that Bush In fact, he outright lied and said that no one in his administration had made claims like that. and I am just curious how he "outright" lied.

Hang On Voltaire: When did someone in his administration claim that Iraq caused 9/11?

Cheney in 2001 through 2003. Here are two example:

In late 2001, Cheney said it was "pretty well confirmed" that Sept. 11 mastermind Mohamed Atta met with a senior Iraqi intelligence official before the attacks, in April 2000 in Prague; Cheney later said the meeting could not be proved or disproved.

and

Cheney repeated his view that Iraq was tied to al Qaeda, saying that "there's overwhelming evidence" of an Iraq-al Qaeda connection. He said he was "very confident there was an established relationship there."

Neither one of these statements hold water, but these and 1000 other public pronouncements from the administration conflating Iraq and 9/11 resulted in over 50% of the American public believing in such a connection.

Massive....Public....Deception....

And now they're trying to say they never said these things. Amazing.

uh_clem: And now they're trying to say they never said these things. Amazing.

Cheney talking about Atta possibly meeting with Hussein /= anyone saying Iraq "caused 9/11."

Hang On Voltaire: When did someone in his administration claim that Iraq caused 9/11?

To be fair, I had thought that he outright stated the connection, but Cheney kinda weasled around it. Here are a few quotes.

"His regime has had high-level contacts with al Qaeda going back a decade and has provided training to al Qaeda terrorists." (Cheney Remarks, 12/2/02)
Cheney: "I think there's overwhelming evidence that there was a connection between al-Qaeda and the Iraqi government." (National Public Radio, "Morning Edition," 1/22/04)
Cheney: "There's been enormous confusion over the Iraq and al-Qaeda connection, Gloria. First of all, on the question of--of whether or not there was any kind of a relationship, there was a relationship. It's been testified to. The evidence is overwhelming. It goes back to the early '90s...There's clearly been a relationship." (CNBC "Capital Report," 6/17/04)

So in the vein of intellectual honesty, I retract my statement that a member of the administration (Cheney) lied. I do think that it is statements like this that lead half of the country to believe that there was a connection. Say it, but without actually saying it.
