"With all respect to Don Rumsfeld, who has done a grueling job for six years, we would benefit from new leadership to work with our military in Iraq," he said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

That's a pretty pussy way of calling for a resignation.

/Just sayin'...

Wasn't Lieberman the one that said it was a bad idea for Rumsfeld to be replaced? I thought I read that somewhere.

i feel bad for whoever gets his (rummy's, thats is)job after the next election. thats a whole clusterfark of info, logistics, planning, and difficulties to walk into on your first monday morning.

And if Joe wouldn't always hedge his bets he might not be in this predicament. He needs to retire, he is only in it for himself and he is no longer needed.

Since Leiberman's name comes up frequently as a possible replacement to Rummy I think this is less about a principled stand and more about hedging his bets.

Crap, if that is the case and you are right then it fits right in with Joe "the Hedgehog" Lieberman.

//Kerry is even worse. If Hillary even thinks about running in 08 she had better damn well resign her seat.

Hey Joe-

Those that criticize the President during time of war need to realize they embolden our enemies.

You farkin' tool.

Does anyone else think that Joe's... oh... what's that phrase... we heard it a lot a few years back... flip-flopping?

Goodnight. Funnyman.

These days, I don't even know if someone is being sarcastic when they say things like that.

Yep, it's pretty sad.

But I was being sarcastic.

Ah ha! That's the Joe I know and love - saying whatever he thinks will get him elected! I can't wait until he goes to his old stand-by and criticizes video games.

Yeah, but he didn't think he could lose his Senate seat back then. There's a BIG difference.

Blathering Idjut said that because he was riffing on one of the most infamous quotes Liberman ever made, that criticism of the president undermines the war on terrorism. At least thats what I think.

So who apart from the GOP hasn't called for that snarling fanged colon to resign?

Clearly Lieberman is bad for US politics because he is neither a raging conservative nor a raging liberal. Moderates are bad for business because they think freely and are willing to compromise, innovate and look for solutions instead of just shouting at each other.

In the arena of foreign policy Lieberman is by no means a moderate.

Being moderate doesn't mean taking a middle of the road stance on every issue. That's called being apathetic. Being a moderate means you take a hard look at any given issue and make a decision based on your analysis of the situation and not based on some high and mighty doctrine.

FWIW, I don't particularly like Lieberman. I just like him better than 90% of other politicians.

I just can't stand the guy, and for the very reason you mentioned above. I think he takes a hard look at what is good for Joe and goes with that. He didn't resign his seat to run for VP. He made it clear he would run as an independent if the voters decided they did not want him. The guy is always hedging his bets and playing both sides depending on which way the wind blows, he is not a moderate or a centrist, he is an opportunist. He blows, same as Kerry, neither impress me.

The fact his foreign policy is Israel > USA is why I claim that he is not a moderate. By many other issues he is.

He made it clear he would run as an independent if a small, partisan fraction of the voters decided they did not want him. Right. And I don't know how to do strikethrough text. Doh.

Nope. Age of Reason had it right the first-time. Lieberman- particularly in his unwavering and unquestioning support of the Iraq war - is a fringe Right candidate and no moderate.
