The toothpaste flap started last week, when local media reported that legislator Berkis Solis had distributed the toothpaste on the floor of the National Assembly.

Try living in the Netherlands to see how good socialism is. Earn over 51k euro per year? Then you can kiss 52% of your money goodbye thanks to income tax. Lowest tax rate is 33% if you earn less than 17k per year. Also 19% VAT on pretty much everything and pretty much everything else is taxed as well. Got over 19k euro on your bank account? Taxed. Got a dog? Taxed. Car? Taxed to hell including double VAT (BTW+BPM). Horribly inefficient semi state-owned businesses for fun, as well. Wanna go somewhere by train? Pray it runs on time. By car? I've converted it a while ago; 7 USD per gallon. Really, if you want to see the success story of socialism, go to Nijmegen or Wageningen.

I'm a student and I'm currently exploiting socialism for what it's worth with educational subsidies. But I have to pay back 50x as much later anyways when I do some unsocialistic things like getting a useful education, working hard and earning a lot...

/Probably gonna bail out of the country after the Dutch goverment has paid for my education

I think the Muslims are opressing the Jews by probing into their "weapons of mass toothpaste-related program activities."

In Canada (let's pick Saskatchewan for fun):

35.5% income tax on lowest income bracket
13% sales tax on virtually everything (some exemptions, like clothes for kids)
Degree: $25,000, at ~7.5% interest

But you get effective universal healthcare, a government that isn't crazy, decriminalized marijuana? Let me guess: unemployment is relatively low (because of those "inefficient" government-run companies), and poverty is likewise low? How about terrorism? Oh, your government actually encourages mass transit, energy conservaton and environmental responsibility through high gas prices, so it's not dependent on raping middle-eastern countries?

Sounds really shiatty. At least here I can go into debt to my eyeballs to "learn stuff" while "fags" are on the verge of having their right to marry stripped away. Yay western ethnocentrism! Yay rich white people helping rich white people! Yay "learn English or go to hell, this is America, moran!"

I believe a bigger problem to be the fact that Chavez has simply decreed it illegal to hire anyone who has voted against him. Most of the citizens can only express their protest by not voting at all, for fear of being thrown off their land and starved to death.

Chavez portrays himself as this Guevarian revolutionary of the people, but he's nothing more than a mob boss who has found himself in control of a country. I thought Pat Robertson was a moron for shooting his mouth off, until I actually visited Venezuela last month. Now I can't help but agree. This man needs to be shot dead in the face.
