"The group returned six 40-gallon trash bags filled with approximately, 25,000 sauce packets to the restaurant."

Morons! Do you realize the entertainment potential they had there? Damnation, the mind boggles!

That's truly wierd and deserves a greenlight.

On another note: Who here will admit to having a "sauce packet" drawer in their kitchen?

Top shelf of the fridge door. The weird thing is I NEVER use them.

Can you imagine what that would have looked like, dropped from a 20 story building? It would have been beautiful. Dumbasses.

Not in the kitchen, but on road trips my wife and I have accumlated bags of packets. Ya never know when you're going to be cooking dinner at a campsite and the dijon mustard packet or the hot sauce packet or the relish packet might spice up a bland meal.

We'll occasionally exit a store oohing and aahing over the "exotic" condiment packet that we've snagged (chutney, honey-mustard and louisiana hotsauce were two unusual ones from our July roadtrip).

See, I don't actually eat much fast food. But when I do, I tend to stock way up on certain sauces that I consider magnificent. Mainly Chick-Fil-A Polynesian Sauce and Arby's Horsey Sauce.

Yep, sauce drawer is in the bottom of the fridge.

Filled with Taco Bell Fire Sauce, Arby's Horsey, fortune cookies and Skyline Chili hot sauce.

2006-08-09 08:31:04 PM
Yep. I keep my stash in the bread box. Just in case they forget to give me sauce when I order at the drive-thru. I can't eat Taco Bell food without the sauce. It's really the only reason I ever eat there.

If it were Dairy Queen taco sauce, I'd be guilty. Why I keep Ketchup when I have full bottles handy must be the OCD hoarding coming back.

Perhaps they had a vast supply of tarnished pennies that needed cleaning...

/No packets at home. Just at the office.

A 16 ounce plastic cup in the fridge door. And I DO use them ;)

bbboy

it's a necessity, I have to constantly demand more BBQ sauce cups from Wendy's, and every month or so I have to walk in and grab 40 spoons because apparently I'm supposed to eat a Frosty with a straw. And no, I'm not using a metal spoon on a frosty. t'ain't right.

Fortune cookies? You get extra? Every time I order we are always 1 or 2 short.

Why not go to an extremely busy parking lot and through them all around cars so that there is no way to avoid them. Wouldn't that be fun to snicker behind a wall and watch people spray their clothes etc.? I'm always the asshat that purposely places my gum right next the the driver's side door.

2006-08-09 08:44:44 PM
Mom always does that, I figured it was part of the WWII generation's "waste-not want-not" mentality.

2006-08-09 08:45:42 PM
I used to keep a basket of sauces on the bar at my apartment. I found that grilling hamburger meat and jalapeno's in Arby's Sauce makes a pretty damned good burrito.

My wife and I had a sauce packet drawer in our kitchen, but I cleaned it out last year. 5-year-old ketchup packets aren't good eats.

bboy: On another note: Who here will admit to having a "sauce packet" drawer in their kitchen?

I do and just checked its content out of curiosity... 10 Taco Bell sauces, 2 Dijon mustard packets, and one soy sauce. And a box of straws.

I'm suddenly feeling a little panicky. Time to stock up on sauce packets.

I don't need sauce for Taco Bell, not on my $1.29 spicy chicken burritos with no fiesta salsa, no sir.

and seriously, when are they bringing back the grilled stuft FAJITAS??? now THAT'S the sauce they should be giving away.

How much Taco Smell do you have to choke down to generate that much of a sauce collection?

Too much math for my little brain ...

2006-08-09 08:50:25 PM
My friends and I used to raid Taco Bell for all the fire sauce they had out for the customers. We thought we were fighting capitalism.

Here's a shameless plug for my blog, where I wrote about it.

I've used soy sauce packets to make marinades before. It didn't turn out half bad. Now if I can find some way to use up all of those duck sauce packets...

2006-08-09 08:51:30 PM
I remember 10 or so years ago when our Wendy's got rid of their Superbars. My dad, who's spiteful, vowed to never return, and he never did.

2006-08-09 08:51:33 PM
I've got one, too. At it's peak it had: 4 packets of Arby's Sauce, at least 6 packets of Taco Bell mild sauce, 5 packets of McDonald's Buffalo Sauce for Chicken Selects, 1 Arby's Marinara Sauce, 2 or 3 unidentified packets of marinara sauce, and 2 Sonic Ranch sauce packets. Now it has only 1 McDonalds Buffalo Sauce and 1 Taco Bell mild sauce. I need to eat out more.

2006-08-09 08:51:46 PM
Not surprised they had that much - anytime I ask for "one or two" they stuff a minimum of 12 in my bag. No wonder prices go up...

/And why couldn't it have been Family Circus?
//Too lazy to post in that thread.

I find that I usually get a set amount. Order 10 chicken nuggets, get 3 sauce cups. Order 30 (don't ask), get 3 sauce cups. It's when you have to ask for more that they take it as a challenge to their fast food pride that forces them to overflow the bag with sauce.

2006-08-09 08:57:20 PM
Yeah, I have a bunch of duck sauce packets in a corner of my silverware drawer. I always just toss the soy sauce because I have a bottle of the low-salt kind, and the mustard because I don't like it... but I keep the duck sauce to dip my leftover egg roll in the next day, and then only use about 2 packets out of 4 or 5.

Mongoloid: Order 10 chicken nuggets, get 3 sauce cups.

The McDonald's near my house has a specific list of items and the maximum number of sauce packets they'll give you for that particular item. I hate that policy. I hate Arby's food, but I can't get enough of that Horsey sauce. Usually the drive-thru guys are pretty cool when I order one order of fries and ask for horsey sauce... lots of horsey sauce, like a friggin fistful. I wish I could just buy the sauce without having to purchase any of their godawful food.

2006-08-09 08:57:53 PM
Too bad Taco Bell is going to have to throw them all away....

WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much information!

I have about 4000 packets in a drawer my kitchen. Every time I ask for mild or fire sauce, they give me about 30 packets.

My family actually uses them, when we make tacos. Its quite good.

The real catch are the packets of mayonaise.

That is all.

Wraithbane

Yeah, in the same bags they brought them back in.

Can it really be considered stealing, when they give the stuff away?

Boomhauer that's nothing, where are teh 'fire' ones?

Back in the day like 10 years ago me and a buddy would go and each get ourselves a 10 pack of soft shelled tacos and a case of beer and...handfuls of fire sauce and watch movies all night while boozin'.

Good times.

Yeah, in the same bags they brought them back in.
