The last guy in the well, in his final dying breath, said to the pigeon, "EARN THIS!"

2006-08-09 04:46:58 PM
More like: "Dumbass kid dies trying to save pigeon, four others die trying to save dumbass kid."

You'd think that the fourth or fifth person would have realized that jumping down the well exactly as the previous person had done wasn't accomplishing anything, but that's just me.

2006-08-09 04:47:39 PM
Bert will be very pleased.
/Pigeons on Parade

2006-08-09 04:58:03 PM
don't they know these things can fly?
and wouldn't you assume the first guy landing on the bird would have doomed it in the first place?

Paging Darwin... oh wait, you are already here.

2006-08-09 05:12:27 PM
Peaceboy

I'm glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read your post. Nice reference.

2006-08-09 05:25:43 PM
If more villagers had jumped in, eventually the pigeon could have just walked out.

2006-08-09 05:59:51 PM
That was no pigeon...it was an agent of Darwin.

2006-08-09 06:01:30 PM
alternate headline "pigeon kills 5"

2006-08-09 06:02:45 PM
spring is here, spring is here.
life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the most wonderous time of the year
is the spring, don't you? don't you?
of course you do.

but if there's one thing that makes spring a treat for me,
one thing that makes spring complete for me...

oh, all things are in tune on a spring afternoon
when we're poisoning pigeons in the park!

/from memory, sorry if I screwed it up...

2006-08-09 06:03:02 PM
Sounds like natural selection to me. Good Jorb guys.

/What's the penalty for stupidity?
//sometimes it is removal from the gene pool.
///Still say the pool needs more chlorine

2006-08-09 06:03:09 PM
How exactly are you helping someone out of a well by jumping in after them?? Hey look, that guy's on fire, someone throw some gas on me.

2006-08-09 06:04:20 PM
They died of suffocation, not of the impact from diving into the well. Some of you didn't rtfa.
So the boy didn't know better and jumped in, the rest (whom I'm assuming are adults since they only said "one boy" were all trying to rescue eachother...all probably yelling from the bottom of the well.
It's quite sad actually.

2006-08-09 06:04:43 PM
Did the Pigeon Make it?

2006-08-09 06:05:55 PM
This is why they live in mud huts.

2006-08-09 06:06:08 PM
The mental picture I get of people jumping into a dry well makes me happy and content with the world. Knowing they died to save a pigeon is just the icing and cherry on top.

2006-08-09 06:06:16 PM
Now that's population control.

2006-08-09 06:06:36 PM
pigeon trifecta in play...

2006-08-09 06:06:50 PM
They haven't invented rope in India yet?

2006-08-09 06:08:00 PM
I wonder why ONLY 5 died? Maybe somebody's been dipping in the dumbass pills.

Darwin smiles knowingly.

2006-08-09 06:09:09 PM
Was it a European or African pigeon?

2006-08-09 06:09:16 PM
Peaceboy: The last guy in the well, in his final dying breath, said to the pigeon, "EARN THIS!"

*watches Peaceboy whiz past on the express elevator to Hell*

LordPistachio: You'd think that the fourth or fifth person would have realized that jumping down the well exactly as the previous person had done wasn't accomplishing anything, but that's just me.

One word: Human ladder.

Well, two words, sue me.

You never miss the simpsons....but they are on right now. At least here. You're in Cali so maybe you have a couple hours?

2006-08-09 06:10:26 PM
definitely a fake story.

2006-08-09 06:10:32 PM
They haven't invented rope in India yet?

Yeah, but the guy that plays the little flute to make it rise into the air was on break

2006-08-09 06:11:03 PM
"Preliminary investigations show the deaths occurred due to suffocation," said DG Jhalawadia, a local government official.

Appearently abject stupidity is not an offical COD.

2006-08-09 06:11:18 PM
You just know the 'injured' pigeon flew out after everyone died and laughed it up with his pigeon friends.

2006-08-09 06:11:25 PM
Ok, so five indians jump down a well...

2006-08-09 06:11:42 PM
This is either fake or a bunch of idiots. I couldn't remember where I've seen this before then it hit me that I've read about it in my extensive personal library. It's in "The Darwin Awards: Evolution in Action" page 57.

1996 240 miles south of Cairo in Nazlat Imara six people drowned trying to save a chicken.

clicky pop for google goodness

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

"What Lassie!? Did Timmy fall down the well again?

Household goes running off to the well.

Lassie eats their dinner.

Environmental wackos ought to hold this article close to their heart. Humans throwing away common sense, taking a backseat and holding animals in higher regards.

2006-08-09 06:17:45 PM
This reminds me of the joke involving Superman, a bridge, and whatever ethnic group is stupid now.

2006-08-09 06:17:48 PM
Lassie wanted for questioning.

2006-08-09 06:18:11 PM
Hmmn, were the victims dot-commer-outsourcers? Or their families?

The industry may be tough here but we don't blow each others server farms up or get your entire family to drown in a well.

And companies think they will be saving money to use outsourcers that need to bleed their clients for every penny they've got to survive...

Just wondering...

2006-08-09 06:20:21 PM
Environmental wackos ought to hold this article close to their heart. Humans throwing away common sense, taking a backseat and holding animals in higher regards.

If the story's real, one human (a young boy) tried to save an animal. The others tried to save the animal. RTFA before you get on your soapbox.

This shiat happens all the time. Worker passes out from fumes in a holding tank, dies. Second worker tries to rescue the first guy, dies. Third worker tries to save 'em both, dies. And so on...

2006-08-09 06:22:17 PM
The tragedy took place in Jhalabordi village, about 90km from Ahmedabad, the main city in Gujarat state.

Jhalabordi means Darwinville in Hindi.

2006-08-09 06:29:46 PM
choice and consequence: This shiat happens all the time. Worker passes out from fumes in a holding tank, dies. Second worker tries to rescue the first guy, dies. Third worker tries to save 'em both, dies. And so on...

Schroedengers Cat, only in Darwinian terms.

Remember friends,

21% is not just a good idea..It's the law.

2006-08-09 06:34:48 PM
Well they sure fell afowl of well placed intentions. Now all their families are birdened by their deaths. And all this over the poultry life of one pigeon.

/not much meat on a pigeon wonder why the fuss?
//mmmm pigeon curry
