Good point, actually. Why the fark do we have any engagement there, in the middle east, at all? Why not instead sit on our ass saying "Alright, you crazy farks can do whatever you want to one another, but if the oil spigot gets turned off/down, we're going to make life VERY hard for the lot of you."

2006-08-01 12:48:39 PM
'cuz we are "Israel's staunch and loyal allies."

/or something like that
//bullshiat either way

2006-08-01 12:48:49 PM
I was going to comment about what a stupid thing that is to say, until I read the article and realised the quote is completely made up. The article itself does contain a load of crap, but it's Kristol's crap, not Christopher's.

2006-08-01 12:49:28 PM
Yep, William Kristol is a grade-A douchenozzle.

2006-08-01 12:50:01 PM
Because Israel owns us, and they won't allow it?

The only DUMBASS is the submitter (and FARK greenlighter). Christopher is being criticized in this piece for saying Bush should get OFF his arse.

Oh, and last time I checked, the US did send military to and/or over Bosnia and Rwanda when Clinton was in office. Just more in a manner to make sure they stayed safe than to stick them in the middle of a civil war.

2006-08-01 12:51:24 PM
Kristol on the other hand, thinks we should wage 3 or 4 different wars simultaneously. Since, you know, we have unlimited resources and a huge budget surplus...

jslicer:

Yep, William Kristol is a grade-A douchenozzle.

If by "grade-A douchenozzle" you mean "one of the smartest people in the room" then yes, you are correct.

logistic:

Because Israel owns us, and they won't allow it?

What neo-nazi propoganda piece gave you that idea?

2006-08-01 12:53:17 PM
If two groups are killing each other and the US steps up we're "policing the globe and shouldn't be there", but if we do nothing it's "wah, wah, wah... look at this tragedy, why didn't the US help out"?

That being said, there's no way in hell we should be helping Israel. They're no better than the rest of the wackos in that region. Glass parking lot. All of it.

2006-08-01 12:53:58 PM
Answer: Because the U.S. supplies billions in military aid to Israel every year. Sound like a fair fight to anyone?

Israel is the US's staging ground for war with the Arab World. That's why.

I'd say that's the only thing keeping it fair, considering the hundreds of millions of often-angry Muslims surrounding Israel.

Only if by "one of the smartest people in the room" you mean a room containing Terry Schiavo, Anna Nicole and the cast of Big Brother they yeah you're right. Outside of that narrow list I wonder what you're smoking.

Nah, the room mongbiohazzard was referring to was the Oval Office, in which case he was right. And his bar was set no higher than yours.

mongbiohazard: If by "grade-A douchenozzle" you mean "one of the smartest people in the room" then yes, you are correct.

I joined this argument to say that. However, my phrasing would be further along the lines of, "How can someone so intelligent be that mindbogglingly stupid?"

2006-08-01 1:13:34 PM
"Sound like a fair fight to anyone?"

why should it be a fair fight? One is a democracy the other is a terrorist organization.

Fair would for Israel to wipe them off the face of the planet.

You just offended Terry Schiavo. Apologize!

antisocialite: How can someone so intelligent be that mindbogglingly stupid?

As fellow (former) neocon/PNAC signatory Francis Fukuyama said (quoting Daniel Patrick Moynihan), in reference to think tanks:

"There are some mistakes only someone with a P.H.D. can make."

Very true. Some people are so hellbent on demonizing "academics" and "intellectuals," it's these assclowns they should be talking about.

Wow no wonder the last administration had such a poor foreign policy with guys like Christopher in control. The only think I really disliked about Clinton was the fence sitting on foreign policy that he did. I will take action instead of sending troops without ammo to a hostile area. Negotiating with terrorist does not work.

2006-08-01 1:34:31 PM
Dear Miss Schiavo, I apologize for impugn your memory by comparing your intelligence to Mr. Kristol's. I was referring to your ability to think clearly after your unfortunate accident, prior to your illness I am certain you were smart enough to realize Bill is a grade A douchenozzle.

Sincerely

OIL!!!!

Because Israel owns us, and they won't allow it?

There are only something like 12 or 13 MILLION Jews, of which roughly half are in the Us and the other half are in Israel, in a world of almost 6 BILLION. How pray tell, can such a minority "own" a country the size of the US and yet still be under constant seige?

Shut........UP why should it be a fair fight? One is a democracy the other is a terrorist organization.

Newsflash: Lebanon is a democracy in which Hezbollah holds elected seats. That doesn't excuse Hezbollah's rocket attacks, just as nothing excuses Israeli occupation in the West Bank. Syria and Iran sponsor Hezbollah's bad behaviour; the US sponsors Israel's bad behaviour.

Fair would for Israel to wipe them off the face of the planet.

Genocide? Nice to see we've all learned the lessons of WWII, Rwanda and Bosnia.

You can tell Kristol is smart because he answers every question with the same answer: "Blow it up."

I would've hated to be his math teacher.

hankhorsey: Lebanon is a democracy in which Hezbollah holds elected seats

So then since hezbollah is represented in Lebanon's government, Lebanon can rightfully be held accountable for the incursions into Israel?

Sweaty Jerry: Why the fark do we have any engagement there, in the middle east, at all?

Because the land of Israel contains the origins of the retarded theology that 2/3 or better of Americans believe in. We can't have those dirty Ay-rabs prayin to their moon god, shooting up the Jeebus Torturarium and Wax Museum, or bombing the hill where Mary once (reportedly) took a Divine Shiat. Sacred ground...that's why we can't just let Israel tend to its own business. There are too many christians in this country that have a stake in what happens to that piece of land.

"Genocide? Nice to see we've all learned the lessons of WWII, Rwanda and Bosnia"

Hezbollah is no different than al-queda. No matter how much some on here want to legitimize them they are a terrorist organization plain and simple.

And if you consider it genocide to wipe terrorists off the planet then Hooray Genocide.

2006-08-01 4:37:12 PM
Newsflash: Lebanon is a democracy in which Hezbollah holds elected seats. That doesn't excuse Hezbollah's rocket attacks, just as nothing excuses Israeli occupation in the West Bank. Syria and Iran sponsor Hezbollah's bad behaviour; the US sponsors Israel's bad behaviour.

Y'know, I bet the KKK have had a few people in elected office. By your reasoning, the black panthers could hold the US government responsible for lynchings, and proceed to attack trailer parks.

2006-08-01 5:13:57 PM
Dancin_In_Anson: So then since hezbollah is represented in Lebanon's government, Lebanon can rightfully be held accountable for the incursions into Israel?

Absolutely. Regardless of Hezbollah's political status, Lebanon is responsible for cracking down on terrorism within its borders, which it has failed to do. The problem, if you're Lebanon, is that you feel you have no alternative but to tolerate the terrorists. The Lebanese status quo is (was?) a stable, relatively democratic government. Taking on the terrorists means, I should think, civil war which might very well expand into regional war.

And if Syria, Iran and Israel are involved, then so are The US and, probably, Russia.

So it's fine to be highminded and say "beat down the terrorists", but when the consequences might be World War, maybe you ought to give a ceasefire a chance and see what international diplomacy can achieve.

Kristol's not that smart.. He's clever. There's a difference.

Those guys were called "the crazies in the basement" for a reason. This country doesn't have the time, resources, technology or will to enforce a worldwide Pax Americana. Peace will have to be achieved through means other than war.

Personally, I'm getting tired of this flaring up every decade or so. I think the US should stay out of it, develop an alternative energy program with all the urgency of the 1960's space race, and let those middle-eastern monkeys all fight it out. Last one standing on the rubble, give us a call. All the US citizens clamoring for Israel's support should get on the next plane and sign up with the IDF. They're gonna need all the help they can get if the US cuts off the feed. All the US citizens grousing about poor Hamas and poor Hezbollah can get on the plane after that one and sign up in whatever bullet-riddled ruin they use as a recruiting office.. Just don't get picked up by US forces, it's a one-way ticket to Gitmo, fighting for a terrorist org.

However, none of this changes the fact that Kristol is a neocon blowhard and should only be taken seriously as a villain in a bedtime story.
