It begins!!

"It causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell who does not have the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name."

Does she mean, the same way Toblerone put a computer chip in Bill Clinton's penis, to help him attract fat White House interns ? The bastids !

2006-07-21 11:04:50 PM
So? I accuse Hillary of wanting to put her penis in women's vaginas. Big deal.

Give it time. The Southern Stupid will latch on to this "story" and proclaim it to have the truth that will allow them their hate for all things "lib."

I'm about the last fan of Hillary in the entire U.S., but if you RTFA, she isn't saying that in any serious way.

And I happen to be in favor of chip implants. Not for any sort of bizzare mind-control thingy, but to improve memory, intelligence, and allow for direct mind-machine interfaces.

Don't like it? Don't get one.

I think that microchipping kids is a good idea in a post 9/11 America. If terrorists were to kidnap the kids, your government could instantly find them and return them to you.

It's something to think about.

She is just jealous that they thought of it first.

Heathen:

If it were entirely voluntary on the part of the recipient, OK.

But you know, I don't trust government.

Terrorists are not interested in your kids. Jesus.

Ya know, I graduated in 1980 and at the time my waist size was 22" (yes, I was rail thin but I ran and played a lot of Ultimate Frisbee). I am now 44 and my waist is 32". I ate a boatload of HoHos, Snickers, pizzas, Twinkies etc. in High School but now I try to eat healthier, lots of chicken, fish and salads.

Does healthy food make you fat?

Let's start the clock and see how long it takes before those opposed to her holding office start using that out of context to make her seem nuts and unfit to hold office, while she and the rest of her party stand around flummoxed and wonder why people are being so mean to them. Fight back already, for christ's sake.

Heathen: And I happen to be in favor of chip implants.

Me too. I have been looking forward to getting a chip in my brain since my 8th grade computer teacher told us it was coming. (I'm 29 btw)

Too bad we wasted time going to school. The first thing I'm gonna do is download a PhD in engineering or something.

No. Not being a kid anymore makes you fat. You should know this by now.

"Does healthy food make you fat?"

If you eat too much, yea. I wish I was a 32". I remember when my waist was a 29" for the longest time. Now, I'm 109lb, and a size 34". Even my sister called me fat to me bloated face. I think it's time to get my stomach stapled.

This is one of those weird stories where Southern Christians actually agree with the Good Senator from New York. I don't remember how many paranoid stories I read as a kid in church about the coming apocalypse, and how the government and corporations want to implant chips in your hand or forehead. I once read a story about how every bar code had the number 666 in it. It sucked growing up as a paranoid kid. Fortunately college cured me of that.

"At the rate that technology is advancing, people will be implanting chips in our children to advertise directly into their brains and tell them what kind of products to buy,"

I imagine a similar "loony" back in 1850 or so saying, "By George, I do believe that one day men may place large electric pieces of furniture in their homes that shall tell them what kind of products to buy. Whence, sirrah, and whither?

Laugh all you want but the Hil's right this time. Advertisers would like nothing more than an uninterruptable pipe from their studio into your brain.

Communist Toaster: Spend $5 or get someone else to spend $5 on you.

...no I'm not spending $5 on you

Will you spend $5 on me?

I promise to wholeheartedly project the proper image of "Bread from each according to their ability. Toast to each according to his needs."

That or I'll make fat jokes about myself. Whatever gets you off, I mean, if I'm going to be a whore, I might as well be a shameless one.

Mr Sunshine: "It causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell who does not have the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name."

interesting that the King James version i've read (i.e. at holybible.com)in says that the mark will be put in their hand or in their forehead... now why would a book written 1000's of years ago not say the mark would be placed on them? unless God knew all along it would be a chip..

2006-07-21 11:22:16 PM
I just can't wrap my mind around this one.

2006-07-21 11:22:36 PM
Actually Hilary would be a great candidate to represent the Left. Afterall, how hard is it to believe this story when you already believe that Bush is the root of every problem on Earth. Everything from the problems in Africa, the EU, and that pesky neighborhood cat that whines all night are all the brilliant mastermind, who is also a retarded chimp.

/Does it suck to know that you continue to get outsmarted by a chimp?

Wow, she went all "Ross Perot" in that article.

Must be something hormonal.

Communist Toaster

You know, usually I biatch at people who make Kentuckians are stupid jokes. Then I realize how idiotic I must be, in order to ask a Communist Toaster for a hand out. Where the heck are the fat bourgeoisie appliances when I need them?

2006-07-21 11:25:20 PM
Oh yeah and when I say I've never paid for fark, doesn't mean I wont when I get a steady job :)

Resin33

I am well aware of the fact that age and the lessening of physical activity leads to weight gain as we age.

My point was I ate all kinds of junk food and drank sugar-laden soft drinks and was as skinny as an Ethiopian marathon runner. Diet doesn't cause childhood obesity, the lack of physical activity does. We had Phys Ed every day and played football, volleyball, dodgeball, kickball, softball or just ran our asses off.

Chipping my brain to determine my sugar intake and advertise Frosted Flakes wouldn't have made much of a difference.

2006-07-21 11:26:19 PM
one other concern:

If people are now able to implant chips which can decipher normal brain activity/ electro-chemical signals which allow a paraplegic to move robotic arms and cursors with thought...

How long before they send signals back into the brain?

They can already tell rats they're hungry or angry or sleepy... how long before we can be be completely progammed?

And no, I'm not kidding.

Someone's been reading too much Neal Stephenson.

/not that there's anything wrong with that
//but WTF is up with that historical fiction trilogy POS?
///and a little healthy paranoia is good for you

She's got a point if YRTFA -- 6 hours for the kids in front of tv, video games, etc., vs. how many hours with the parents? Marketing has a strong influence on people. That's why ad agencies are still in business.

2006-07-21 11:27:32 PM

I thought this was Brandon Tartikoff's job:
28 Day Slater

"and every February, for 28 straight days
he think's he's back in Bayside High thanks to an implant in his brain
and nobody knows just how to make him sane
'cause Brandon Tartikoff took the secret to his graaaave!"

There are 4 episodes so far. Yes, that's Mario Lopez, a.k.a. the original A.C. Slater, grown up.
