Lieberman needs to wipe his mouth... he's got Bush jizz leaking out of it...

Then maybe people will listen to him.

Poor Joe... he's nothing but a shill of his former self...

/good thing we have all those troops in Iraq, we might need them in Iran.

I have said it 1000 times, We got into this mess, what is so bad about finishing what you started? I plan on supporting lieberman in the upcomming election, And i dont see Lamont realy having a shot even if he does win the democratic ticket. Just becasue he doesnt vote the way i like on a small handfull of issues i am not going to dump him over the large number of issues i do agree with him on. The only way i am going to see a canidate i agree with 100% is if i were to run myself.

For a party to hate the man so much they sure do follow Bush's, "You're either with us, or you're against us" doctrine.

There're a lot of people submitting today who could use a refresher on what the quotation mark actually signifies.

Oh yeah that's a good idea.

I'd take the trade. They can still find ways to get in trouble to be sure, but at least there'd be less soapboxing on the Senate floor.

What's the deal with all the quotation mark abuse today? Let's review: You only use quotation marks in headlines when the person in question ACTUALLY said it.

Yeah, he's totally off her friends list, and she's baleeting him off her Blackberry as we speak.

WTF? Do you expect all these people to be buddies, just because they're in the same political party? They're co-workers, and co-workers who don't seem to have much in common at that. Who gives a shiat if someone hurt the other one's feelings. This is like your boss's secretary getting pissy at you for a few weeks because she caught you looking at her ass.

soze: Do you expect all these people to be buddies, just because they're in the same political party?

Let's just get the answer from the horse's mouth:

"I've known Joe Lieberman for more than thirty years. I have been pleased to support him in his campaign for re-election, and hope that he is our party's nominee," the former first lady said in a statement issued by aides.

"But I want to be clear that I will support the nominee chosen by Connecticut Democrats in their primary," the New York Democrat added. "I believe in the Democratic Party, and I believe we must honor the decisions made by Democratic primary voters."

I'd take that as a yes.

Oh come on now. I think the Democrats are making a big mistake running away from Lieberman, but you can't fault a highly ranked member of the Democratic Party for saying she'll support the person who wins a Democratic primary.

/Republican.
//But I think real competition is good for the system.
///I swear we'll run Jenna if you guys keep eating your young like this.

Dancin_In_Anson: Asking for too much integrity?

I don't know man. I would not like the policies adopted by politicians to be based off of a friendship rather than intelligent and rational thought.

2006-07-17 6:54:22 PM
If Lieberman loses the primary, the Democrats will rue that day. First, Lieberman will run as an Independent and clobber Lamont and the Republican. Second, other Senate Democratic candidates will be put on the spot as far their positions on the War and more importantly their relationships with nut jobs like DailyKos.

wtf are you smoking?

i suppose katherine harris enjoys as much fervent support because hillary clinton is the only politician lacking integrity.

joementum doesn't look like it's going to win his primary. that aint hillary's fault.

cope.

Asking for too much integrity?

Hello, and welcome to politics. Lieberman is a liability to the party and nobody wants to be stuck with a political albatross around their neck.

Sort of like how most Republicans in close races don't want Bush stumping anywhere near their states.

This is not a faltering of integrity at all. Quite the opposite.

It's wrong for Hillary to choose her party over her "friendship" (not really sure how well they know each other), especially when it comes to matters of the party?

If the Democratic voters don't want him, then the voters have spoken and Democratic politicians should abide by the choice that the people have made. It would be ridiculous for Hillary to give her blessings to Lieberman (an Independent) over a Democrat chosen by the Democratic voting body.

At least when people bash Bush they usually have a good reason.

What in the hell are you basing all of this on?

If Lieberman loses to Lamont in the primaries, he'll clobber him in the election? Why would this be? Because he changed parties from Democratic to some independent party? This does not make a lot of sense to me. Please elaborate.

As a Connecticut resident, seeing a VAST majority of Lamont signs to Lieberman (I counted two Loserman, lost count of Lamont's) is very encouraging.

Not only has Lieberman been pro-Republican on Iraq, but he continues to support censorship, critizes TV shows for not standing up to "family values" then admits he never wathced the show, is a close friend of Pat Robertson, supported the PMRC in the late 80s, early 90s, supported the ugly Bush/Cheney energy bill, was the first to join republicans in criticsim of Clinton over Monica Lewinsky (a more suitable criticism would be kicking millions of single black mothers off of welfare).

The Jewish community even is unsure of how to support Joe. From what I've heard, the NH Orthodox Jews no longer support him (don't quote me on this, this is hearsay I hear via word-of-mouth). He's just a no-good career politician supported by lobbyists.

Ned Lamont may have hundreds of millions of dollars, but at least I can say that nobody can buy him the way interest groups bought Lieberman.

/waiting for my Lamont sign and bumper stickers to come in the mail

It's not just about the damned war.

It's not just about the damned war.

/Joe, are you reading?

As a CT resident I will be voting third party. Lamont is worth between 90 and 300 million dollars, so who is to say that he won't be like Lieberman when it comes to corporate corruption. Lieberman supports the idea of censorship of music and television.

2006-07-17 9:25:48 PM
So people here expect her to put her friendship above her moral and political convictions, and the expressly stated wishes of Connecticut's Democratic voters? Lieberman has turned his back on his party and most of their ideological principles, and you expect Clinton to continue supporting him because she thinks he's a neat guy?

2006-07-17 9:47:13 PM
Wow.. The republican party of Nepotism seems really shocked and freaked out by this display of choosing someone based on their merits instead of someone who has just been around for a while..

2006-07-17 9:59:44 PM
How terrible: a leader deciding to follow principle instead of personal loyalty. If Joe can deal with it and everyone keeps civil, they could still be friends. Look at Bill Clinton and George Sr., or Hillary and Newt Gingrich for that matter. Joe must've known from the get-go that supporting the Iraq War would cause some friction.

2006-07-17 10:04:17 PM
Yeah...I guess that asking for something more than blind, partisan, single party politics is asking for too much.

2006-07-17 10:10:19 PM
Yeah, Hillary has really gone out of her way on being against the war. Oh, wait...
