10 years ago you would have had a point, but now we know Republicans aren't any more fiscally conservative than Democrats. Even less so. Get new memes.

Yeah. When did Jesus tell you to give stuff to poor people?

jimmyhaha: Yeah. When did Jesus tell you to give stuff to poor people?

I clearly recall Him telling his followers to vote for politicians who promise to confiscate other people's money using all the coercive powers of a modern socialist super state. Yep, it's right there in Socialonomy.

Let's base our system of government on the teachings of Jesus, it worked wonderfully in the past.

No religion ever had so many chances to govern as Christianity. In so many places over such a long period of time it has failed and led to persecution.

The bible is an awful place to look for a government. God is always finding favor with this or that king or helping this or that army destroy its enemies.

The bible is obsessed with the lineage of kings, and the passing down of divine mandate.

I hope that could never happen here...

/oh wait...

Well then, poor people should quit having kids.

Another trollish insta-green. This summer's fark "Affirmative Action for Freepers" keeps on rolling!

I particulary love the "top 10 stupid liberal ideals" insta-green below that's from a blog so stupid you can almost smell the crayola the idiot used to write it.

We understand. Several prolific right wing trolls had a change of heart or publicly backed away from supporting the administration.

So the teleporter from the freerepublic forums opened up.

Fun time.

Tell me about it... It's fascinating to see what's getting greenlit more and more... I used to love the greenlights on fark, and now I find myself ignoring them because they're all predictible...

The latest 3 or 4 scandals about the iraq war and politics in general have all been scooped weeks, in some cases months in advance on totalfark, but never get greenlit...

Oh and as an aside, 21 minutes between post and greenlight... Is that a new record?

HEY EVERYBODY!

Let's pretend the Democrats spend more on entitlement programs than the Republicans!

Stereotypes are more fun than facts!

Ha ha, that Hillary, she sure does like to spend taxpayer money! Ho ho ho! Way to go Bush and GOP Congress! You only have a higher level of non-defense discretionary spending than the last six presidents!

2006-07-12 7:55:32 PM
Enlarging federal entitlements > Throwing money down the Iraq drain. I'd rather pay for social justice than an unwinnable war and tax cuts for the rich, myself.

/Can we just dissolve the USA?

It's sounding like a better and better idea, birdboy. Years into the worst presidency, fiscally, in recent history, one that has the most implications for the future of U.S. power and prestige in the world, and people (namely submitter) are still trotting out the same tired old bullshiat. They're all gonna see how wrong they were when we, as a country, are trying to do something big and find out we don't have the cash or ability (like the British during the Suez Crisis).

2006-07-12 8:18:46 PM
The problem with this post (and I say this as a conservative) is that the GOP has pissed away any and all claims to being sane about federal spending... this is why I have given up on politics and the GOP, except for Tom Coburn. Yes, Coburn is somewhat nutty, but I would vote for a socialist if that socialist had the same balls when it came to challenging evey pork project in the senate.

Oh, wait a minute, did you just say entitlements = discretionary spending? Really?

2006-07-12 8:21:31 PM
Yeah, Coburn is respectable. He also challenged the practice of attaching riders to bills.

Oh, wait a minute, did you just say entitlements = discretionary spending?

No. I'm not sure if the figures for Dubya-era non-discretionary spending take into account spending on entitlement programs that predate Dubya and the Congress of Clowns. Therefore I'm not sure if it's fair to use those numbers, so I didn't, & instead I pointed out how much they spend on discretionary stuff. However, I'm sure Bush and his minions have increased military, discretinary, and non-discretionary spending by more than any government since LBJ.

At least LBJ did his thing during the amazingly prosperous 60s. Our current economy is shiny but hollow in comparison.

It's going to take droves of people to go to Washington for an extended period of time, and protest for few months, at least.

Yeah, I'm looking for another gap of over $1 trillion during one administration and I'm only seeing Reagan, but then again, Bush as some time left.

It's that embarrassing negative revenue increasem which your lovely geocities chart illustratesm what makes it seem like Bush is outspending Reagan. It'll probably be neck and neck to the wire.

Really? Is that what your gut tells you?

Yes. The chart below only measures Dubya's spending up to 2004. My gut tells me he's beaten LBJ and Nixon/Ford by now.

The debt is not the spending - that's a whole nother argument. If you want to make the case that the debt management since 2000 is terrible, I'm with you. If, as Exec Monkey is doing, you're trying to make the case that spending has increased radically, you're just wrong.

Crap wrong one - that's actually for the next point.

The entitlement spending is flat, I started the next set of charts early, showing that the discretionary spending is, in fact, spiraling. Mostly because of Iraq and DHS.

I'm not sure what Opinion Journal's point is.

So liberal Christians are really secularists because they want the government to fight poverty as opposed to conservative Christians who want morality enforced...

... by the secular government. Oh.

They sent some Pharisees and Herodians to him to ensnare him in his speech. They came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you are not concerned with anyone's opinion. You do not regard a person's status but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?" Knowing their hypocrisy he said to them, "Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius to look at." They brought one to him and he said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" They replied to him, "Caesar's." So Jesus said to them, "Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.' They were utterly amazed at him.
