Last week, the Crown Publishing Group, which released "Godless," also dismissed questions about Coulter's works, calling them "as trivial and meritless as they are irresponsible."

Of course it won't make any difference. Just as studies have shown that no logic applies to political partisanship, most people have already made up their minds about Coulter. They either love her or loathe her, and an article such as this will merely reinforce what her supporters already believe or cause her detractors to say it's bullshiat.

What the hell is so carefully researched about, "There are only so many ways you can rewrite a fact and minimal matching text is not plagiarism" and "Universal Press Syndicate is confident in the ability of Ms. Coulter, an attorney and frequent media target, to know when to make attribution and when not to"? That's not research, that's just a denial.

I understand your reaction to her screed... but, to date, no one here has refuted her claim that those 4 women of privilege have, without consent from the other couple of thousand victims' family members, have set themselves up as the "voice" of those families.

I think Coulter is the biggest biatch around and a perfect example of everything that's wrong with America right now.

Having said that it was pretty clear from the start that the accusations of plagarism were about as non-substantial as the existence of the Cruise/ Holmes baby.

Of course that won't keep me from referring to her in the future as "accused plagarist Ann Coulter." The phrase is technically accurate, after all and definetly falls into the category of things she herself have defined as acceptable.

accusations of plagarism were about as non-substantial

I'd say pilfering 1/3rd of a 850 word piece from the LA Times without attribution and quoting 10 of 23 examples straight from the Heritage Foundation without attribution count as "substantial." Those are just two examples.

Uh, not that I know whether she commited plagiarism or not, but two media companies who make money off her (her syndicator and her publisher) aren't exactly neutral parties.

Yeah, a lot of it is much ado about nothing. She's still a moron who's "arguments" run the gamut of "someone else's argument" to "here's the 'facts' I found on Google that support my childish insults" and she's a racist. The only one I found on the Internets that I'd consider copying is the sentence that starts "The massive Dickey-Lincoln Dam..." As for the other examples I've seen, UPI is right, and the DailyKos liberals need to stop propagandizing and playing political games and think for themselves; pot, kettle and all that. It's desperation and its making you spin, probably even unconciously at this point. It's getting like a cult just like the damn Freepers. You won't be desperate or feel if you learn and educate yourself about the things you are concerned about. Calling some of this stuff plagiarism is, quite clearly to me, not because you are concerned about plagiarism, it is because you are concerned about the bile that woman spews and you want to 'get' her. That's fine, she's a hateful biatch, but if that's your concern focus on that instead of on plagiarism.

3) Publishers admit plagiarism, firing Coulter
4) Coulter is ostracized from all intelligent political communities

What these examples show is that Coulter is a lazy writer who rips off other people's research, but stealing someone else's arguments isn't "plagiarism". It's just being a lazy, unimaginative writer.

Probably true. Still Ann thinks her shiat doesn't stink and folks like that sometimes don't think the rules apply to them. It is still possible she did it.

My favorite bit was when one of the blog-accusers actually stooped to SHOWING an example of an AC plagerism in her new book. Within less than 24 hours it came out that the source she had "plagerized" had itself used as it's OWN source - an unpublished copy of Coulter's new book.

So... Ann plagerized from... herself.

Stunning.
