I can JUST see the tips of the flagpoles from the roof of my apartment, so this still counts, I hope!

(I left the camera reflection in on purpose, the top two snow pictures were taken through an upstairs bedroom window, the third from the back deck).

Almost midnight on June 6th, looking out my window toward the abandoned barracks across the street. The sun "sets" for about 90 minutes this time of year.

Thousands of miles into the sky, a group of satellites hover above the Gulf of Mexico. If you were on the Space Shuttle and saw them, you'd think that they were just another group of satellites doing whatever in space.

But these are no ordinary satellites.

No; they are prized and valuable pieces of equipment for millions of Americans. The continued normality of their lives often depends on the proper operation of them. They depend on these satellites for their delivery of Fox News Channel, A&E, Discovery Channel, and, for some, PaxTV (or "i", or whatever it's called these days).

In one backyard, this small swath of opening from the trees provides all the space needed to comfortably allow the signals to reach a small instrument that picks up these signals, and relays them into the corresponding house.
