I'm actually a fan of Kerry's (it's very cold and lonely in this place), but I have to admit I cringed when I got his e-mail today about what a step in the right direction this was. Spin can only go so far before it gets comical.

"Cut and run" is the new "flip flop".

Neither are even remotely accurate labels, but they're both easy for retarded neocons to remember and pronounce.

For the last time, he's NOT trying to cut and run! He wants us to surrender, I think.

The liberal media has been brainwashing the masses into believing that there is no good news in Iraq. Well, the truth is it's going so swimmingly that we have actually won the war. It's time to pack up and go home. Why do we stay for a mission that is already accomplished. The sign behind Bush strutting in his peacock codpiece on the aircraft carrier deck said "Mission Accomplished". You have to be retarded to keep fighting a war that we have already won! Kerry is just setting the date for our victorious troops to come home for their New York ticker tape parade...

/put that in your crack pipe and suck it ...neocons

SpongBub: Submitter is not just drinking the kool aid - he's snorting the packets.

I appreciate your rabid desire to root for the party affiliated with an animal and a capital letter at all times.

From TFA:
"Feingold and Kerry declared the vote a victory, since their bid last week to mandate a pullout by December 31 got six votes.

"It was terrific," Kerry said. "Several votes more than we anticipated."

Drinking the Kool Aid is a refrence to Jim Jones and his Guyana cult suicides. To say that someone is "drinking the Kool Aid" insinuates that they are tricked into believing something that is not true.

Either you didn't RTFA or you don't know what that expression means.

Bad: Admitting the war was a mistake.

Good: Using the mutilated corpses of our dead sons and daughters to prop up a frighteningly incompetent administration and a singularly corrupt congress who would improve the country by resigning, today.

But let's get back to important things: stopping the vicious gays from getting joint checking accounts.

Regardless of how you put it, this really has become all about partisan politics. The Democrats have a huge stake in painting this as a failure, maybe not overtly, but it would certainly be a political boondoggle for the Democrats if a withdrawal would be seen as a retreat. That's not to say they want U.S. forces to fail, but failure would be to their political advantage, and I think that's why Republican opposition is so fierce right now. Frankly, I don't trust anyone with an "R" or "D" after their name for an honest assessment of Iraq. The rhetoric coming from both sides has gotten completely out of hand.

Dude, you aren't new here. You should know by now that they greenlight political flamewar headlines because it increases their mainpage numbers.

Some cool but obscure tech article doesn't bring in the ad revenue on a story where every joe-sixpack can pop into the thread and rip on whatever politician they didn't vote for in 2004.

I wish everyone that disagreed with what I think would just STFU.

What kind of ball licking retard do you have to be to not understand that the minority party in a crappy 2 party system can only measure their successes regarding unpopular legislation in terms of how severely/barely your iniatives fail. Victory surely isn't the right word and John Kerry is a douche, but if it got more votes then anticipated, it is a small success.

/looks like we need to go back and revise the history books for the first modern president to "cut and run". President Reagan "cut and ran" in Lebanon after 241 American Marines were killed in their barracks as they slept because Reagan didn't want them to stay offshore in the ship. If "cut and run" is good enought for The Great Communicator, why can't Kerry bring it up also...Lebanon didn't suffer by it....

The same kind of retard that doesn't realize that, in a pass/fail system, failure is just failure? Passing bills is like flying. Either you do or you don't. The important thing is actually getting something done, not trying and failing.

Now, he can use this failure to judge his chances of actually getting a bill passed. He can either convince more people that he is right or he can change the bill so that it will pass. Either one could be measured a "success".

I dunno. Maybe he's refering to the fact that Bush won the popular vote, the fact that republicans took majority control of the senate, and they increased their holdings in the house of representatives.

I would think it's not far off to say the majority of the population agrees with these people, since they voted for them in the first place.

Although I do believe a lot of people use that picture without understanding it, as you accuse, it is a good metaphor. Bush doesn't do that on every ship that returns from every tour. Not even every capitol ship. He did it because, at that point in time, he needed to stress that we had "turned the corner".

According to recent polls, the situation has changed hugely since the last elections. But it's a good argument, nonetheless. Which puts you miles and miles ahead of the nasty little creature to whom I addressed my question.
