"Cut and run" only sounds bad, if you forget that "stay here and get blown up" is the second choice.

"Cut and run" is the new "flip flop".

Neither are even remotely accurate labels, but they're both easy for retarded neocons to remember and pronounce.

2006-06-22 3:57:56 PM
We should really be considerate of the Liberals and call it "organized retreat without victory, leaving our new ally twisting in the wind."

Sure it's a little long, but let's not embarass the liberals by putting labels on their ideas.

In the spirit of mutual respect, I would like to ask the liberals to stop labeling the idea of Standing and fighting terrorism, side by side with our coalition partners as "Stupid"

Mutual respect?

You might want to look up the definition of mutual.

2006-06-22 4:04:34 PM
not to be confused with "I'll cut you, biatch"

mild7: organized retreat without victory

Define victory. Because I haven't heard even one of those farking idiots in the White House clearly define success in Iraq.

They have no Goddamn idea what's going on.

mild7: fighting terrorism, side by side with our coalition partners

http://abcnews.go.com/US/IraqCoverage/wireStory?id=2105862

"The Pentagon waited nine months after completing an investigation into the deaths of two U.S. soldiers before notifying relatives the men were killed by Iraqi troops, the military acknowledged Wednesday."

Wave your flag a little harder. I don't think they can see it from there.

2006-06-22 4:07:37 PM
Which ally is that, mild7? the puppet government to be overthrown (probably democratically) the second we leave? Maybe you mean Al Quaeda, who has thanked the US profusely for the increased exposure and recruiting, as well as made their assinine "The US is out to occupy and desecrate ALL Muslim lands" statement that much closer to truth?

As far as being embarrassed, every thread you enter, you are shown to be a callow and insipid troll, spewing vitrol and lies. Time for another login, yes?

As far as mutual respect, I can honestly say that when we lied to the world and got a few suckers to join us, then got their proud and heroic soldiers killed for more lies, the respectful thing to do would be to let them know the truth about what we did and why. We should respect those standing and fighting with us enough to do that. Or we should run stories about mortar rounds from the 80s and Al Quaeda being associated with Saddam again, because we DON'T respect them, and we're lying to them so they'll continue to take some of the heat for us.

right?

fark off, troll. Once again I ask, WHO IS GREENLIGHTING THIS shiat?

"Cut and run" only sounds bad, if you forget that "stay here and get blown up" is the second choice.

Yeah, but then you'd be lying.

2006-06-22 4:13:43 PM
Why do people keep on engaging the trolls on Fark? By this point, unless you're new to Fark it's obvious who they are.

2006-06-22 4:14:21 PM
Coalition? Who remains with boots on the ground and weapons in their hands?

2006-06-22 4:22:14 PM
TheConvincingSavant

So? What's the real option? Do you believe that American troops remaining in Iraq aren't going to continue to be killed 2, 3, 4 a day? What do you see that's going to change in Iraq?

You used to be able to give (semi) convincing arguments. Too bad your heroes in the Bush administration have let you down so consitantly that all you're left with are one-liners before you cut-and-run from every thread.

2006-06-22 4:22:24 PM
Once again I ask, WHO IS GREENLIGHTING THIS shiat?
Probably the same admin that sees people say "WHO IS GREENLIGHTING THIS SHIAT?!" in every single political thread.

I agree that it's getting a bit silly... but it's Fark. Our mascot is a squirrel with giant balls.

2006-06-22 4:26:03 PM
Retarded and trolly but I still chuckled at the headline. Then it was greenlighted. Then mild7 showed up and it was all downhill from there.

Seriously, people. Folks like Fred Phelps don't deserve the dignity of a response to their insane ramblings any more than the crazy guy on the street corner - and that goes double for some internet fascism-cheerleaders.

2006-06-22 4:28:04 PM
vernonFL: WTF is happening with these greenlights?

Exactly what I was thinking. Admin or mod whose greenlighting these must be a BushCo cheerleader. I've never seen such partisan dreck getting greenlit in such abundance.

Just glad I wasn't the only one who noticed how transparent things are around here lately...

Somebody who must be really, really bored and wants to watch some fireworks.

My opinion: Don't bite.

If you ask me, "staying the course" isn't such a great idea either, especially when you're on the wrong course...

2006-06-22 5:04:47 PM
Its not just right wing flaming headlines, its left wing flaming headlines too.

Headline 1: Why do the libtards hate America?

Headline 2: Bush and Cheney caught sodomizing a puppy.

/both greenlit.

mild7: In the spirit of mutual respect, I would like to ask the liberals to stop labeling the idea of Standing and fighting terrorism, side by side with our coalition partners as "Stupid"

If by "standing and fighting terrorism" you mean "stay the course in Iraq" then "stupid" works for me, but, in the spirit of mutual respect, I'll call the occupation of Iraq:

"a monumental failure of Republican leadership"

or

"a horribly botched test case for neoconservative principles"

or perhaps it

"exposes the concept of gunboat democracy in the Middle East as a huge shiatstain on every conservative thinktank's mission statement."

But "failure" pretty much sums it up. The answer to "failure" isn't "fail harder".

So sad.

the_gospel_of_thomas: A taste of a little payback and you can't handle the abuse ...

Actually, I think it's to prop up the Right on fark, since they've got very little to stand on and were routinely getting trounced out of threads by the reality based community.

Think of it like affirmative action for idiots.

CashForChaos: Exactly what I was thinking. Admin or mod whose greenlighting these must be a BushCo cheerleader. I've never seen such partisan dreck getting greenlit in such abundance.

Puh-LEESE. Let's just see what left-leaning stuff has been greenlit lately:

"August 2003: US troops in Iraq are sitting ducks. June 2006: US troops in Iraq are sitting ducks"

"Evolutionary theory, an intrinsic evil, is a theory of sex and death, totalitarianism and racism. Thank god Ann Coulter exposed all this in her spiffy new book"

"Stop me if you've heard this one before: Top Republican in trouble for pushing a federally funded program that may have led to personal profit"

"Cheney: Iraq pullout 'worst possible thing.' Everyone else: 'No invading Iraq was the worst possible thing.'"

"White House counselor Dan Bartlett stumped by Matt Lauer when asked to name one Democrat advocating 'waving a white flag of surrender' in Iraq as President Bush claimed recently. Or should I say President Lies-a-lies-a-lies-a-lot?"

"Karl Rove bringing back Saddam/9-11 linkage for midterms:GOP needs new playbook"

"Colorado wants to ban common-law marriage because it's based on outdated traditions, but to ban gay marriage because marriage is traditionally between man and woman"

"Bush: "The Hungarian Revolution should inspire Iraqis." No danger of this being misinterpreted"

"Audioedit theme: George Bush makes a call to OnStar"

"Texas GOP representative: "I don't think we have racial bias in Texas anymore." Also, the sun has a smiley face, flowers learned to sing"

"Laura Bush stormed out of the White House after a blow-up with the president over whether he was cheating with Condoleezza Rice"

"President Bush calls US World Cup team to wish them luck against gonorrhoea"

"Santorum gets his ass handed to him regarding WMD. By Fox News"

"Instead of working on an immigration bill, GOP plans summer roadshow to bash illegal immigrants. Funny how they never pick on groups that can fight back"

"srael: "Oops. Our bad. Hang on a second as we fire another U.S. provided missile at your heathen asses.""

(This is your cue to protest that all of these are the simple truth and not biased at all.)

The CraneMeister: (This is your cue to protest that all of these are the simple truth and not biased at all.)

They can be biased and true, most of them are.

Hmph. OK, the "politics" tab on the liter page looks pretty fairly balanced between left-leaning, right-leaning and centrist flamebait headlines. Looks like the Fark gods are looking to mix things up......this could get interesting.

tchamber: OK, the "politics" tab on the liter page looks pretty fairly balanced between left-leaning, right-leaning and centrist flamebait headlines.

Sssh. Don't spoil the fantasy for people who think a single right-leaning greenlight means Drew is really Pat Buchanan in disguise.

2006-06-22 7:14:55 PM
These greenlights on "cut and run" are relentless.

At least the Republicans are in lockstep on their plan to... um... what was the plan again? Stay and... ?

bloobeary:

You mean like the two soldiers who got shot in the back by the Iraqi policemen they were training and working with? (pops)

Not if you get to come back with a leader that actually plans ahead and knows wtf he is doing.

You're kidding.

We're THERE now.

Coming BACK yet again will likely cost at least the same we've lost so far. More than likely MANY MANY more, regardless of 'who'.

2006-06-22 7:30:29 PM
RockIsDead

Just to clarify: do you genuinly think that the Bush administration has handled the Iraq war competently?

Then we should really, really stop training the Shia death squads, it makes us look bad.

Pul-LEESE. Let's just see what the left-leaning stuff
has been greenlit lately:

Heavy stuff. Good reminder that the left is always on
our bad side.

2006-06-22 8:14:16 PM
Yep, ww1 was lost on the german homefront, vietnam was lost by the protesters. You people are so profoundly stupid it's disheartening.

The CraneMeister: Puh-LEESE. Let's just see what left-leaning stuff has been greenlit lately:

I concede your point, but many of those examples are simply hyperbole for the sake of humor (as the headline for this thread is).

2006-06-22 8:19:13 PM
How many of you even know what staff officers were even afraid off post vietnam? Who knows what mission creep is? Why did powell create the powell doctrine?

The most important thing a country can choose to do and you people are woeful, pitiful.

2006-06-22 8:34:33 PM
Thanks, tgot, you got an actual plan? I'd like to prevent more of our soldiers deaths for some other country, but that's not a plan.

Or, I would like to prevent myself from going broke. Plan = _________ ?

2006-06-22 8:35:53 PM
Or to put it yet another way:

A goal does not equal a plan.

2006-06-22 8:44:51 PM
Cut and run is a perfect term for what many activists are suggesting. That's exactly what they want to do.

If anyone is ashamed of the term, maybe they should reassess the implications of what they're suggesting instead of lashing out at anyone who calls it like it really is.

2006-06-22 8:54:14 PM
GraphicAddiction: Cut and run is a perfect term for what many activists are suggesting. That's exactly what they want to do.

Same old shiat:

As [the war] continued to go badly, its advocates became more defensive. The motives of those who spoke out against the war were questioned, as was their patriotism, and in the case of the Democrats their loyalty to the party. Critics were called 'nervous Nellies' and 'special pleaders,' and, in the language of cattle handlers, as ready to 'cut and run.
-Eugene McCarthy, on Vietnam

Yeah, it's better to let the enemy decide when we leave.

Thanks for informing me that stopping the torture of women & children at the hands of a murderous dictator is immoral. And here I thought liberals were supposed to be compassionate.
