1. Just riffing here, but I wonder if the reason Kerry conceded was because HE LOST THE ELECTION.

2. Nice to know Kerry is so superior to our SCOTUS justices.

Okay, John Kerry's not all that bad politically-speaking, but yikes.

No, no, that one I'm with him.

At some other point he referred to Supreme Court Justices Alito, Scalia, and Roberts as idiots."

Idiots? Let's check the facts, shall we?:

John Kerry: Bachelor's Degree, C average

Samuel Alito: Bachelor's Degree, magna cum laude;
Juris Doctor, magna cum laude

Antonin Scalia: Bachelor's Degree, summa cum laude;
Juris Doctor, magna cum laude

John Roberts: Bachelor's Degree, summa cum laude;
Juris Doctor, magna cum laude

And they are the idiots?

ArkAngel: And they are the idiots?

I seem to remember, in fact, that when academic records were dredged up, it turned out Bush got better grades than Gore OR Kerry.

Nothing wrong with a "Gentleman's C"--but if you frame the debate in terms of "I'm a genius and my opponent's a moron," better check the facts first.

P.S. This is someone cue to protest that of course Bush got good grades--his daddy bought them.

I guess Kerry never saw the West Wing episode where Josh Lyman gets into an argument on the phone with a Matt Drudge-like blogger, thinking it would be off-the-record. Toby Ziegler, over his shoulder, yells at Josh that bloggers aren't reporters and for him to shut up. While Josh is still on the phone with him, the blogger updates his website, using quotes from the diatribe Josh just screamed.

Kerry had a 76 average during his undergrad. I suggest you take your own advice.

Kerry: 76

I don't know about you, but where I went to school the mid to upper 70s was C territory. And if you'll remember, Democratic mememakers got off on Bush=dum all throughout that election.

/voted Kerry (but never believed that wordy and vague = smart)

Oh come on. He wasn't speaking as a politician to the national media, he was just saying what was on his mind. Are you saying that you never call people "idiots," or something equivalent, without actual proof? I think its more a suggestion that he thinks many of their views are idiotic, than that they lack intellectual ability.

/not a Kerry fan

Geeze, when did you go to skool? Now a 76 is an A- you dunce.

And BTW, a 76 beats a 77 any day. So Kerri's smarter. And those Supremes are stoopid with their magma rock thingyies

What W to his mind via substance abuse after college is a much larger factor in why he's perceived as an idiot today than any grades would be.

For either of them grades are irrelevant. Rich kids don't need great grades.

Such a cranky bastard, no html for you:

Grade: A - >= 90; B - 80-89; C - 70-79; D: 60-69; F -

One of the first from Google. Maybe things are different up there in Canadia, but that's generally how it goes down here. (And I didn't even make an exchange rate joke.)

I'll back atomsmoosher up. When I went to school A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, and F=anything below 60.

I also walked to school. In the snow even. Yes, some days it snowed both ways.

Hrm... in my school anything below 65 was an F.

Why don't you post the better part of that pragraph,

Kerry agreed completely with someone's assessment that everything that Bush does is solely for the purpose of looting the country. He basically said that Bush and his cohorts are criminals and that history will judge them so. He said that he believes that the pendulum will swing back and that is why after 35 years in politics he is still involved, otherwise he wouldn't waste his time. He also said that he never stopped fighting after the election, and that he still hasn't, but I didn't get to ask why he conceded the next morning, though I wish I had. At some other point he referred to Supreme Court Justices Alito, Scalia, and Roberts as Idiots

That's good to know, that you have no problem with the looting of the country and the president being a criminal , But you get really mad when you calls the idiots at supreme court, what they really are. Good grades only proves that you are the best ass kisser at school.

/I still think they is no difference between the republican party and the democrats. We all know it. The goverment will do whoever pays the most. You are an idiot if you think any of these are smart, They are idiots but with a evil twist.

Depends on the school--plus a bunch of other factors, including whether curves are allowed.

My college let teachers set their own grades, so I had some classes in which 90-100 was an A and others in which 95-100 was an A.

You caught. The fact that I didn't mention that paragraph means not only that I agreed with it, but that it doesn't bother me.

Which reminds me: I noticed that in your own post, you did not deny molesting sheep on the county courthouse lawn. Obviously you're a sheep-molesting bestiality freak.

Idiots? Let's check the facts, shall we?:" etc.

Didn't RTFA, but may I hazard a guess that Senator Kerry was critiquing their lack of consistent jurisprudence? This would not be an outlandish criticism, given their creative use of the equal protection clause to get their man elected in 2000. When you show contempt for "activist" judging, and then pull that kind of stunt, you shouldn't be shocked when someone calls you on it.

cryptozoophiliac: his would not be an outlandish criticism, given their creative use of the equal protection clause to get their man elected in 2000.

Yeah--especially Alito and Roberts. Darn sneaky of them to misuse the law to get Bush elected four years before they actually sat on the Court.

2006-06-06 1:31:53 AM
CraneMeister: yes, let the nitpicking begin. Doesn't change the fact that Scalia has intellectual egg smeared all over his face for one of the most shamefull and indefensible Supreme Court decisions in recent memory.

It doesn't bother you but they are talking about the same subject, Supreme court is as guilty as Bush.
They helped Bush said since Robert's election, including the wiretaps, NSA scandal etc...They think they can get away with it, and that's why they are stupid.

It's not unusual for universities to let professors set curves on a per-class basis, I'd think. Mine certainly did -- and curves might be expected if a course is pegged at a sufficiently difficult level that the class median is usually below 50% on the midterm exam.

Most of my professors aimed for more generous median scores of circa 70%, 'tho, with a nice range for clarity's sake.

Care to be more specific, with analysis as to why you think his decisions are indefensible?

Just my personal opinion, but Scalia is the smartest person on the Court. Roberts is probably a close second. You can agree or disagree with the man, but try arguing against that legal brain sometime and see how far you get.

Sloth_DC: The decision by the Supreme Court to stop voting recounts in Florida represented an activist strain of jurisprudence that over-rode democratic processes at the state level using civil rights precedence. Strikes me as ironic coming from a bunch of judges supposedly skeptical of such creative rulings. Evidence of their embarrassment came in the form of a statement in the ruling indicating that this politically charged decision was a one time, non-binding decision.

They then further embarrassed themselves by over-ruling the people of California who democratically expressed their desire to use home grown cannabis for medicine.

All in all, a less than stellar performance from the court, consistency-wise.

B = 88 - 94
C = 81 - 87
D = 75 - 80

What a wingbat. Bush is pro business. That's good. The same companies that are looting are country are also the reason it's better to live in the U.S. than India.

That sentence is a vague damnation of capatalism. It could come from the lips of Stalin or any other socialist leader who doesn't want to back up his claim.
