What? But Google is a saintly company that gives us free things because they love us. They wouldn't do anything wrong...

obvious tag and isnt that part of the risk of internet based business? what a crock, they are only sueing because they know that google has huge cash reserves atm.

A lawsuit because they have a hord of cash...surely not.

Pissing off your clients is the best way to turn alot of money into a little money.

I think unless it is Google employees who are clicking on the links to raise traffic, these companies should STFU. Its the nature of the beast, I'm afraid - if you don't like it, don't advertise with Google. I mean after all, Radiator.com gets so much traffic on its own without Google, right? Right..?

Another vote for the "Obvious" tag...

Sure, the internet has always been a little on the shady side, but having up to 40% of my cash go towards pretty much nothing would totally piss me off. Especially if I was doing business with a company with such an awesome motto.

"Your friendly local radiator shop" ?

Oh, I got it.

If the agencies are so upset about this, why don't the band together and only buy CPA (cost per aquisition) deals for a higher rather than the cheaper CPC (cost per click) or the even cheaper CPM (cost per thousand served). Sounds like someone needs a bit more time in internet advertising 101

In some cases, it's competitors clicking on the links.

So... Google is somehow supposed to protect against a competitor doing something akin to walking down the street and taking all the "more info" papers out of the little boxes on the "forsale" sign?

Gimmie a friggin break.

Any company that spends 40% of it's ad budget on clickthroughs on the internet is already farking brain dead anyway. Just let the Schiavo-like body friggin die already.

Mmmm... click fraud. I need to get in on that.

Sometimes I'll click the ads on a site just to support it, then quickly click back.

Skyfrog: Google is a saintly company

Google is evil.

2006-05-08 8:22:57 PM
do you see any companies as not being 'evil'?

Glad to see I didn't make my sarcasm too obvious. :P

I was mainly talking about the Google Fanboys, the ones who think Google is the greatest thing on earth. If the company came out with "Google Dog Crap" these people would knock each out to be first to download it.

Skyfrog: "Google Dog Crap"

I tried it last week. Totally awesome, and it made my teeth whiter.

You know, I couldn't do my job without Google (network admin) but they don't charge anything for their excellent search which let's me fix stuff much quicker than I could otherwise do. I also don't have anything to sell so I can't advertise. Since they've been so good to me over the years I always felt I should do something to help them out. A while back someone put an article on here about the search terms that cost the most to have placed on Google. A few of them were around $400-$500 so I did a search for that term and clicked on every single one of the paid ads to help Google out in appreciation of how they've helped me. Kind of a rant I know but just felt like confessing my click fraudiness.
