Great headline!

Mmmm.. Mary, that is good!
2006-04-21 08:47:34 AM
Good headline. Would have been a little bit better though if submitter had instead put:

What's the buzz? The Nazi death camp production of Jesus Christ, Superstar won't be a-happening

To the Anti-Defamation League: Try not to get worried. Try not to turn on to problems that upset you.

Maybe they could stage "Fiddler on the Roof" in the Colosseum in Rome?
2006-04-21 10:10:15 AM

It seems to me a strange thing. Mystifying. I'm amazed that men like that could be so shallow, thick and slow.
2006-04-21 10:51:06 AM
Damnit! I invested in that show.

/I want to be a producer.
2006-04-21 10:51:49 AM
Maybe they'll allow 'The Producers' instead.
2006-04-21 10:53:21 AM
Well, maybe they won't be damned for all time, then.

Gotta love it. According to TFA, the former prisoners APPROVED OF the idea. ...And then people in America farked it all up.

Awesome headline, but szmike definitely improved on it.

Ich arbeitete unter Hitler.

Also finde ich viele von diesen Antworten sehr komisch.

Viele von euch koennen es klingen machen, wie ihr wiszt, worueber ihr sprecht, aber vertraut mir: Es ist nicht so.

Also werden falsche Daten geteilt. Wenn ihr ueber einem Thema nicht wiszt...Taeuscht nicht das Gegenteil vor.

Denn viele Farkern glauben alles, das sie hoeren.

BallsackConundrum, the ADL has a really skewed idea of what constitutes "defamation" or hate. There was a flap awhile back when they put out a directory of "hate symbols" on their website, and it included all sorts of innocuous things that some hate group somewhere had once used but that to the average person represented nothing at all negative, as well as obvious things like swastikas and controversial ones like the Confederate battle flag.

Ich arbeite jetzt bei Hitler! Ihr koennt mich mal! =P

I vote for Springtime for Hitler to be performed.

And excellent headline :-)

Great! Now where can they perform "Clean & Sobibor"?
2006-04-21 11:17:32 AM
Exactly, Kensey! That's what bothers me... This group thinks that they're so important, that they can't see the forest for the trees. "This might offend holocaust survivors!" "Erm... Actually, we already checked, and they're fine with it." "Umm... Ummm... WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?!"

Ugh. The PC Police are at it again.
2006-04-21 11:22:41 AM
Dangit! Now how are we supposed to sneak The Fallen Madonna With the Big Boobies out of the prison?

Michelle is not going to be happy...
2006-04-21 11:24:29 AM
Singin' in the Rain was going to be performed in the 'shower' block.

RoscoePColrtane "Great! Now where can they perform "Clean & Sobibor"?"

This sounds it has the potential to be one of the best photoshop threads ever: Create a poster for a popular musical being performed in a death/detention camp.

Bonus points for showing the cast of Hair in the new Halibirkenau.

Damn you, submitter, now I've got the soundtrack stuck in my head.
2006-04-21 11:39:46 AM
lets be honest here...this was a terrible idea...anyone who has visited a Concentration Camp after the fall of Hitler can feel death in the air. I've actually visited Majdanek about 7 years was cleaned up after the war but you can still see the scratches on the walls of the gas chambers of women, children, and the eldery trying to claw their way out as they were killed off.

Only a self-righeous Christian group could suggest such a asinine idea.

OK, here's something freaky - The headline made me thing someone was doing what my former high-school theatre club did...

The year after I graduated, my home-town high school did a production of Jesus Christ Superstar... with the plot, dialogue, costumes and scenery changed to WWII Germany. Of course, the death camps were one of the settings. While I love pushing people's buttons, I thought the whole thing was in kinda bad taste.

I was pretty involved with the theatre stuff while I was a student there. The teacher-director (let's call him Greggles - I wonder if anyone reading this will recognize it...) is infamous for two things: Choosing controversial shows and changing shows to make them *more* controversial. (He loved working in three G's to stuff - Girls, Guns, and Ghettos)

A highlight for my experience working with him was when he felt we needed students who were extras in a back-alley scene to be pretending to shoot up heroin.
2006-04-21 12:01:58 PM
Where would they put up the show? In front of the mound of ashes (pops)?
I don't know much about the play or its connection to this, but something like that can get really tasteless easily.
2006-04-21 12:03:17 PM
They managed to violate Godwin's Law without even getting on the Net!

I have to say I agree with them. It's not exactly an appropriate place for any kind of live entertainement.
2006-04-21 12:24:31 PM
Did I hear James Mason?
2006-04-21 12:24:31 PM

Hitler ended up in a ditch covered in petrol on that's fun.
2006-04-21 12:27:01 PM
Major Thumb:

So dead entertainment would be appropriate?

One thing I'll say for Him, this Jesus is cool.
