//Almost forgot: go Mets!

Wins = the most meaningless pitching statistic.

In other more noteworthy news, Greg Maddux is dominating at the age of 40 WITHOUT an overpowering fastball. Atlanta misses him.

New headline:
"Pedro Martinez will finish the season on the DL while the Mets finish in third place."

Big farking deal. 200 wins. So what?

Maddux just won #321. I wonder if Pedro can rack up another 121 wins in 5 years.

I'm actually kind of surprised that it took Pedro this long to win 200. He's a helluva pitcher.

2000 wins in 12 years (He started starting full-time in 94) is pretty impressive. And he has the fourth best winning percentage at 200 wins in history as well.

BFD..Peedro won his 200th game..give me a break..not like the team did anything right? And yes, Maddy did win his 321st game..I respect Maddy..Peedro can take a long walk off a short pier..at midseason when he breaks down and goes on the DL.

I said it yesterday; he'll get a hangnail or sprain an eyelash and go on the DL at some point.

downstairs: Wins = the most meaningless pitching statistic.

So you read moneyball, congrats.

how about all the ridiculous stats he puts up?

Like # of batters beaned per season? There's such a fine line between "intimidating" and "willing to put bean a guy because he believes his own hype."

Martinez is a class A jerk, and MLB will have to spend an hour wiping egg off it's face just to be able to eat all the crow they'll be served once Martinez finally injures someone. Maybe this year, maybe next year, but eventually he'll end up putting a fastball in a guy's ear and ending his career.

I remember the plunk fest that broke out a few years back in Tampa Bay when he was pitching for the sox. He nails D-rays players like it's a carnival shooting gallery, included Joe Flaherty TWICE. The second time, Flaherty charges the mound. Result? Flaherty Ejected, D-rays pitcher ejected for retailitory plunking, Other D-rays players ejected for the fight. Martinez? No fine, no suspension, and in the postgame interview he throws out the "There's no crying in baseball" line. Year, Big tough guy when you're not standing in the batters box. I'm waiting for him to get drilled now that he's in the National league again.

This year? Plunks a Nationals player twice, doesn't get warned, ejected, or fined. Forget Barry Bonds and Steroids, I want an investigation into which MLB exec Pedro Martinez has naked pitcures of.

and for the record, Moneyball sucked.
