Whudja expect? She can't even spell her own first name right.

submitar, in the name of all that is holy, you need to repeat the third grade! You're a threat to the mental health of spelling nazis everywhere.

Ouch. I think you'd need Autocad to diagram that headline.

Heh--just saw this:

"THE IRONIC FURTHER TRUTH.. Hidden in this example of diverted news priorities is the fact that Barbra Streisand is a great speller, meticulous in her written communications!"

Scandalous: You're a threat to the mental health of spelling nazis everywhere.

Every misspelling comes from Streisand's essay, in which she misspells all these words:

Irag
curruption
dictatoriship
crediblity
Adminstration
warrented
desperatly
preceedings
ouside
subpoening
responsibilty

2006-03-06 9:31:58 PM
RTFA people, the headline is actually kinda funny.

Not at all. RTFA. It's not MY fault Barbra Streisand has worse spelling than my 10-year-old son.

Hah, that page is funny.

I don't understand, the graphic I've seen comes from a screen capture of the same website, obviously the same background and everything. Yet that page claims that that letter was released by a Republican to whom it was accidentally faxed. So, if it was originally a page accidentally faxed to a republican and released by said republican (whoever that is), why does it look like a screen capture from the very site now trying to explain it? Why would the republican who released it release a screen capture of a clearly color website with the same stuff on it? Why go through that trouble?

That's funny.

2006-03-06 9:37:18 PM
how does the saying go... spelling is next to godliness?

/doesn't farking care what Barbra thinks/writes.

I like this headline if only because it reflects the source. Good one, Submitter

/ not submitter

The interesting thing in all of this is that this poor, misguided entertainer stopped her education at the high school level. While I do not condescend in any way on people who did not choose college, she has no business calling someone else a C-student when she never even went.

Source.

Because Ms. Streisand, powered by her enormous ego, usually faxes her posts on her web site to Capitol Hill, particularly if she thinks she is right about something.

This might be the first time such a missive has gone out with such glaring errors, but she deserves the ridicule for either not having her staff proof the letter, or simply for being a dumbass.

The first letter with the misspellings--back in 2002--was faxed to someone by accident; the page he linked to was a page on her site.

The screen capture he's linking to today looks as if it's on her site somewhere, but he said nothing about it being faxed to anyone.

Just found the actual page:

http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/BarbraStreisand/statements.html#balancedpower

Looks like Drudge got a screenshot of it before someone fixed all her spelling errors. Wonder if she'll claim she dictated this one, too?

2006-03-06 9:44:25 PM
Hmmm. I completely misunderestimated her ability to spell.

2006-03-06 9:46:25 PM
That's one stupid biatch right there...

/yes, "biatch" is correct...

I don't remember it being an accident - she routinely sends letters out to Democratic senators/reps on the hill. I thought the last letter was sent out to a republican senator by a staffer in another office.

Did she simply screw up a telephone number for that one?

nashBridges: I don't remember it being an accident

Streisand claimed it was:

"The story behind the misspelled words is explained here only because those spellings were used as a ruse to avoid addressing the real substance of the memo. The questions raised in that note are far more pertinent to the decisions Americans will be making this November. The memo was DICTATED BY MS. STREISAND ON THE PHONE as she was rehearsing for her performance at a recent gala to raise funds for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Unfortunately, it was taken down and typed by a new employee who sent out a first draft before it had been reviewed by Ms. Streisand or checked for spelling. On top of that, as Barbra ruefully recalls, "It was also faxed to a wrong number.. my luck, a Republican."

Holy crap, is she just a car accident....

Pretty funny that Drudge thinks this is newsworthy.

Newsflash: nobody on the left* gives a shiat what Streisand says or thinks.

* I'd say "or on the right" but that appears not to be the case.

If by car accident you mean that a man and woman had sexual relations in the back of a sedan and she was the accidental product, then yes.

Thank you, submitter, for giving Barbra the publicity she desires.

Good work.

That could be the title of a biography. Or perhaps a poem.

I don't care about rich idiots...

the extravagant, the arrogant, the lavish,

no I don't care about rich idiots.

those who would argue can kiss my ass.

I know, it doesn't really rhyme. But I never said I was good at poetry, so kiss my ass.

untrustworthy: Wow, elchip, you're on a roll, eh?

You gotta be careful with those cards, elchip, or you'll end up suffering from michaeltrout disorder: getting demands from so many other TFers for graphics of their own that you'll wile away all your time working on them until one day you myseriously disappear...

Dude...now that I think about it...I think I made one anti-white comment once. And, of course, Weaver picked up on it...

Bad Speller. YES. Dumber than our president? HELL NO.

A high school dropout calling an MBA stupid - that is classic.

While I do not have much respect for an MBA, it does take a significant amount of intelligence to complete high school, an undergraduate college education, and get into an MBA program - especially at an ivy league university.

Bush does talk like an idiot at times, and I strongly disagree with many of the decisions he has made as President, but I am smart enough to know I will be immediately dismissed by most thinking people if I say he is stupid simply because I disagree with his decisions or beliefs.

BTW, while the world burns and America falls apart, this is what Republicans come up with. Idiots.

Hey, look!

Bright shiny thing!!!

2006-03-07 12:56:51 AM
Although a horrible speller. 20 bucks says she's more Verbally articulate than our president.

Besides that, I'd bet she'd give the president a good run for his money on a spelling bee competition.
