Hello fellow FARKers and Totalfarkers! This is a public service announcement from, me CanadianCommie, about the oppurtunity of a lifetime! All Alberta FARKers are invited to the Edmonton FARK Party! And hey, if you're not in alberta/edmonton, and are really, really bored, you too can attend, naturally.

The Place

It's called The Windsor Pub. It's a nice little spot two blocks from the University of Alberta's main campus. The atmosphere is relaxed and the booze is pretty damned good for a small venue. The google map will be in the link, but the directions are pretty straightforward; If you are at the front of the Butterdome, you face east and walk two blocks (past Lister Hall). You can't miss it.

The Date and Time

The date: March 11th- a saturday. The date was chosen for a bunch of reasons; the collective feedback, my own schedule, and providing enough advanced notice while also avoiding, say, Reading Week where every bar on or near Whyte Ave. will get slagged.

The time: 7 pm start time is the target. Although I will be there earlier (no less than 15 minutes earlier) than that to set things up, 7 pm seems like a naturally appropriate start-time, allowing everyone to eat or get their affairs in order to attend. Although, it's not manditory to show up AT 7- you can show up pretty much whenever- I have to set some sort of target.

Other Stuff

What can I expect?

Well, I think This(pops) is a good indicator of what to expect, and some of the usual suspects. Essentially, booze, fun, and people that you probably have more in common with that you may think.

What if I need more information, or am coming from out of town?

There is only so much I can do, but if you have some questions or concerns, e-mail me at canadiancommie[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com. I'll respond as promptly as possible, and will give you as much assistance as I can.

What if I can't attend?

Well, if you are one of the poor schlubs that has to work or will be unable to attend that night, then don't pout! e-mail me anyways. That way, when the next FARK party's in the works, you'll get notice well ahead of time, and maybe even some decision-making clout.

Can I bring other people?

by all means, if you want to bring someone, or a few friends, by all means. If you do plan on bringing extra people, drop me an e-mail about it, and with an estimate of who.

How will I know what to look for?

The nerd-smell should be enough, and the secret handshake will assure your entrance. But, if all that doesn't work, then look for a FARK sign and people with name tages. I hope to have at least a few clear identifiers for our group for those of you that aren't well known to the rest of us (i.e. you weren't at the lst FARK party).

So, I hope to see you all there, and, enjoy the rest of your winter if you don't!

-CanadianCommie

So is there gonna be guaranteed buttsecks there?

2006-02-18 12:37:30 AM
I can't guarantee any buttsecks JJ. The rest of it will be fun, but pants are manditory.

I used to go to U of A and used to live in Lister Hall. (I'm surprised they haven't condemned that place yet)

Is that the strip mall across from the residence where there used to be (and might still be) a Mac's?

I'd love to go, but I only travel during the week, and I live in southern AB.

Sounds like it'd be a good time, though.

2006-02-18 12:39:35 AM
Yay! Fark Party! I can't go, but I'll be there in spirit. And I'm proud of Commie for organizing this all by himself. Not bad for a 20 yr old, eh? ;)

And ladies, hands off the Commie. *growl*

I've never been there, so I can't confirm or deny the crappiness of Lister.

yes, and the Mac's store is still there.

I'd love to go, but I only travel during the week, and I live in southern AB.

that sucks dude, hopefully you can get in on the next one. The last one was a blast, so I hope this one will be just as good.

Hey strath, this time, could you label the pics when you put them up on a page? Looking at last year's, I still have no idea who any of those people are, except for Mr_Ectomy, Commie, and Commie's friend Sean.

Have fun, kids. Wish I could be there.
So many of my favourite people are from Edmonton.

Hey all you Edmontonians......anyone know Pat Frick?????

Pat Frick?? PAT "THE FAT FRICKIN" FRICK???!!!!

Bastard owes me 40 bucks, and my sister an apology!

You ever find that Frick you be sure to tell him his old Edmonton buddy Mookiedood has a loooooong memory and a scar that still hurts when it rains.

2006-03-09 2:14:31 PM
They haven't burned Lister Hall to the ground yet? I lived there for 2 years in the early '70's. I think I still have some diseases from there. But hope all AB Farkers have a great time. Mrs. R and I won't be in Admonchuck until the end of April for grad and grandbaby celebrations. Maybe a post U of A grad Fark party?

2006-03-09 2:23:51 PM
Edmonton? Hey, I live there!

2006-03-09 2:26:21 PM
hmmmm...bit of a drive from Colorado. I spent much of my time at the Garneau, Strath and Commie but was known to venture to the Windsor now and again. Maybe I'll read about ya'll in the Sun online the next day.

2006-03-09 2:38:34 PM
Mookiedood.....
I spoke with your sister the other day and she told me she was an only child.......hmmmmmm

2006-03-09 2:53:07 PM
But watch out for those fat ,lazy cops who will bust your head open on a minutes notice. Then those famous roadblocks they have there, and will bust your head open at a sniff of one beer.
Some guy walking down the street awhile ago got shot by a mugger, when he refused to be mugged and started to walk away.

I can't take all the credit, I used the collective intelligence of several of the other edmonton FARKers that helped me not make the same mistakes they did last time.

lomans: Edmonton? Hey, I live there!

then come ya hoser.

2006-03-09 3:28:06 PM
I shall endeavor mightily to get the wife and I headed there for a night of drink and frolic.

Bahumat: Oh fark it, we'll settle for the drink.

that's good to hear. plenty of drinking will be involved, and the beer is generally pretty tasty (or so I'm told, I'm a rum drinker myself)

Just a note on location:

If you walk two blocks east of the Butterdome you end up in front of the Timms' Centre... you want to walk two blocks west to get to the Windsor.

Just so nobody gets lost before they get drunk.

Wish I could attend, but I'm geographically handicapped at the moment.

/enjoy
