Stupid, stupid idea. Even with the freedom fries thing, i don't think i've heard one person refer to them as "freedom fries". They're just fries dammit. I tell you, Iran is REALLY giving themselves a bad image by taking this thing too far, and their image isn't exactly great to begin with.

You know what? At least they're not killing people. I like this. They're catching on to the whole notion of using symbolism and boycotts and other nonviolent means to express their dissatisfaction, and for that, I'm glad. Time was when they'd have just said "Ah, fark it. Let's shoot a missile at Isreal."

Maybe there's hope, but it's going to take time, generations even. Perhaps the Muslims who are children today will form a rational Muslim society in 30 years.

The Iranian Student News Agency reported that the Commerce Ministry d called for changing the name of Danish pastry to the name of a flower that is named after Prophet Muhammad. The idea was proposed in a letter to the ministry, the news agency said.

Assuming this is true... there was a time when I thought Americans had a lock on stupidity. But I've come to realize that while Americans in general are fairly stupid and do lots of completely asinine things the rest of the world is pretty much the same.

Burger King recalls 'sacrilegious' desserts

"THE fast-food chain, Burger King, is withdrawing its ice-cream cones after the lid of the dessert offended a Muslim.

The man claimed the design resembled the Arabic inscription for Allah, and branded it sacrilegious, threatening a "jihad".

The chain is being forced to spend thousands of pounds redesigning the lid with backing from The Muslim Council of Britain. It apologised and said: "The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone."

Danishes aren't even Danish, that's the funny thing. I've been to Denmark and my friends there, when I asked them if they ate Danishes, looked at me like I was from Planet WTF.

That tickled my funny bone so I looked it up. Apparently the Danish was created in Austria but made popular or tweaked a bit by Danes, so I don't think that's really true. Too bad - it was funny.

The Iranians could have their own version of the Nun Bun. But theirs could be the whole nun not just the head. They could cut off the head and eat that, and then drag the headless pasty through their DAMN DIRTY UNPAVED BARBARIAN STREETS.
