To ensure that each photograph looks as good as it should, please adjust your contrast and brightness
so that each of the following shades of gray are distinct from one another and that the transition
from black to white is evenly paced. If you can't do so, you may lose some shadow and highlight detail.

This was a good day this past August and one of my favorite days of 2005...long talks, we figured out the problems of the world.

(If I set the lighting, focus, and everything then set the timer it counts that I took the photo, right? See? My pants are wet from running across the waterfall :)

The last sunset of 2005. Taken while we were on a road trip last weekend, pulled over at the side of the road on westbound Interstate 10, in the desert just west of Deming, New Mexico, on December 31, 2005.

2005 wasn't a very good year for most people, but at least it ended beautifully--visually speaking anyway--for me. Hopefully that beauty will continue into 2006, and not just in the visual sense.

damn straight. nice old vs. new contrast on the fence/treeling pic - made me warm and tingly, what with the green trying to burst through from the background and all.

Thirded. Your words on the forum about being that person with the camera have stuck with me in the back of my mind. And I love that photo.

Our Wednesday gatherings here definitely had an impact on me (in a very good way) this year and I want to thank all of you for sharing what your world looks like.

Born Slippy: we had wonderful fall color here in Nebraska this year...

Beautiful. We get some of the color changing out this way but nothing like back there where everything isn't 80% evergreen trees.

And sunsets. When I was 'home' to Omaha in September there were a couple of awe inspiring sunsets. But I digress. Beautiful photo :)

veruca: Thanks! There's been some great sunrise/sunsets here with the warm winter weather we've been having - lots of humidity and the low sun angle has produced some incredible stuff. I sometimes make fun of Nebraska as being boring, but I think the sunsets here are second to none.

Veruca Kind of you to say. What I lack in photographic ability I more than make up for with my exotic models!

That was CJ's new-year shot, taken on her first birthday.

And I predict Staplermofo will have textbooks written about him/her someday.

One of a few highlights of 2005:

[image from farkimages.com too old to be available]

Attending a media-only Lexus test-drive event was cool enough, but getting access (read: sneaking away from the guides) inside Dodger Stadium was unreal. This was taken from the aptly named Vin Scully Press Box, and being a Dodger fan all my life, this was about as close to baseball nirvana as I've ever been--even if it wasn't during the season.

The nirvana continues with my next entry.

Father's Day 2005:
[image from farkimages.com too old to be available]

I may be violation of the "must be taken by you" rule here--this was taken by my wife.

I took my son to the Dodgers' Father's Day Catch event, where you were allowed to play catch on the field for about 10 minutes with your children. As with my first entry, being in the middle of someplace that you've seen on TV all your life was simply incredible. This was my second Father's Day, which also happened to be our 12th wedding anniversary.

Moved from Canada to Guam. Being unable to work and all alone during the day while he was at work, my husband got me these two little brats to keep me company.

Sigh......everytime I see the Farktography contest, I wish I didn't work Wednesday nights so that I could participate. I have pics that I'd love to post, of things I liked best about the last year (traveling in Europe---France...especially Normandy----Omaha.....sigh).

I dunno, should I post pics from Omaha?

Oh, send an email if any of you would like to see pics from Omaha Beach (Normandy D-Day) from June 4th-6th last year.

Of course... I'm always down at the bottom of these things too but the farktography threads stay relatively active for a few days.

Veruca Whatever park is up on the middle of Queen Anne Hill, i'd assume you are correct - I just found the spot and took the shot! No idea what the park was though, I was too excited by the view to care!

Encyclopedia Galactica That is one of my favorite places in Minnesota :)

On a positive side, we sent my teen girl-child off to her first prom. We haven't let the boyfriend see this, her diabolic side. He'll have to figure it out for himself.

Logomancer: damn straight. nice old vs. new contrast on the fence/treeling pic - made me warm and tingly, what with the green trying to burst through from the background and all.

thanks! that was in an alley in loveland, CO in May.

and any other love-children you'd care to give birth to are just fine with me - we could always use more bartenders!!

veruca: Thirded. Your words on the forum about being that person with the camera have stuck with me in the back of my mind. And I love that photo.

thank you! and thanks for the grad. congrats as well - best thing i've ever done, but i'm soooo glad i'm done now!!

I'll try to get them into next week's farktography contest. I found my pics again and will try to remember to put them up before going to work next Wednesday.

Going to Omaha Beach at Normandy was.......a rather moving experience, and I'm glad that I went. Also glad to have gone to the Peace Museum, not to far from Omaha/Normandy.

h3lx:

nugz4lunch cool ass accidental genius, I'll have fun in the morning mimicing that effect in photoshop. It looks sharp as hell. Like a magma bubble.

Thanks for the compliment, but that was hardly accidental. I took 20-30 shots to get that. Digital Rebel
