Next time I get pulled over, I'm going to say, "well, I slowed down after the fact, so I'm not really guilty."

2006-01-04 2:36:31 PM
Again, I say.. the money came from my tribe. (saginaw Chippewa).. and now 6,000 bucks is going to a charity? 6,000? And how much will that help the charity? thats probably a days worth of electricity for the offices in a few states. Or maybe a few fridges for samples.

Smooth move Bush. We all feel better now that we know your only looking out for us Natives.. oops.. I mean Cheney's heart problem.

Does this article mention that DeLay is now doing the same thing? I think it's on the order of $60,000 that he got.

2006-01-04 2:37:36 PM
Please, please please god, give us an impeachment! Please!

Ok, serious offer here, I will sponsor FOR LIFE, an Tfette who will blow the president in the oval office so we can Impeach him. The money is on the table. Who's gonna step up?

Well, From Philly to Boston, if that were the case, why havent we impeached him over the Iraqi war?

You gotta start somewhere man! Cmon!

I'd rather not fathom President Cheney or Hastert, thank you very much.

2006-01-04 2:41:39 PM
It's not even going to be the reported campaign contributions that are going to get people in the real hot water. It's going to be all the back-room off the books stuff like trips, sporting tickets, meals and contributions to "non-profits" which all seem to employ relatives of congressmembers or republican operatives (Norquist, Reed, etc.). Abramoff and Delay (through the K Street project) made DC awash in dirty money and now it is coming home to roost.

/can we skip the rediculous Clinton comparison/threadjack just once?!?

No, but I did have a g/f who ought've been arrested for the horrible job she used to do down there.

And see? This thread IS empty! It worked!

And now it's been greenlighted on Fark, which is the exact opposite of 'worked'.

By the way, liters coming in, here's the complete listing of everyone that got money through Abramoff or someone with Abramoff's fingerprints...

http://www.capitaleye.org/abramoff_recips.asp

Key names to note: George W. Bush, Tom DeLay, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Harry Reid, Roy Blunt, Dennis Hastert, Trent Lott, Tom Daschle, Daschle's ouster John Thune, Dick Gephardt, Ted Stevens, Barney Frank, Mary Landrieu, John McCain, Rick Santorum, Daniel Inouye, Arlen Specter, Jon Corzine, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Max Cleland, John Ashcroft, Katherine Harris, Maxine Waters, Barbara Boxer, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Elizabeth Dole, Joe Lieberman, John Warner, the late Bob Matsui and Paul Wellstone.

Those are just the KEY names. Minus any I missed while skimming.

I want each and every legislator on that list kicked out of office...rebublican or democrat.

Selling our government is the one single problem we can fix that will solve a slew of other problems.

Mercutio879: I'd rather not fathom President Cheney or Hastert, thank you very much.

Hastert is in as deep of shiate as all the rest. He's right there with DeLay in this one.

Bonkthat_Again

Amen, throw out the trash. Unfortunately, I think that would mean we'd end up re-electing 80% of the politicians currently in office.

/not that that'd be a bad thing...

2006-01-04 2:46:11 PM
I think I'll send my parking ticket fines to my tribes non-profit organizations as donations from now on. Problems solved.

Gosling

That list is a bit overbroad. People have been tagged with the "Abramoff money-receiver" when all they did was get money from one of his future clients before he even represented them. I've heard that there isn't a single Democrat that got money directly from Abramoff, just some reported contributions directly from businesses that he either later represented or representated at the time (which fits his history and close ties to the Republican party). It's going to take a bit to sort out but everyone is sure running for the hills.

Well, McCain's not going anywhere- even if voters nationwide didn't love him, he's the last survivor of the 5 Senators who helped out Michael Keating in the S&L scandal. If McCain can survive that, he'll survive this.

2006-01-04 2:48:09 PM
Although I love seeing dems getting busted in this as well, it makes me happier seeing the republicans getting it. I absolutely sick of their little "moral superiority" crap. Bunch of scum bags hiding under a cross.

How long before the first popcorn/flamewar pic is posted?
How long before the first kitten/boobies pic is posted?
How long before a Bush-looking-stupid pic is posted?

alcoholic_entropy: Hastert is in as deep of shiate as all the rest. He's right there with DeLay in this one.

Let's say Bush resigns, Cheney steps down due to 'health reasons,' Hastert is removed from office for this whole mess, Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska would be next, but he's on the list too, so then it would fall to Condoleeza Rice, and she would submit somebody to the Senate to be Vice Prez. This could be a HUGE mess.

Smookyfufu: It's like Bush the democrat and republican parties are pissing on our faces and we can't move out the way.

This could be a HUGE mess.

I wish, but you know, it won't be. They'll dodge this just like everything else. If they can get away with 30k+ dead civilians and 2100+ dead servicemen in an illegal, preemptive war, and walk away from it, whats a couple million bucks?

Seriously.

/watch for terrorist scares in the near future.

2006-01-04 2:55:36 PM
Smookyfufu: Now you've ruined it.

Oh...you were speaking 'bush', not necessarily 'Bush'.
I see. THAT explains the stinky breath...

He'd only last a day or two before he bit it from massive cardiac arrest :)

I wish everyone would stop talking about impeachment. It's just silly and it isn't going to happen. Unfortunately the bar on that has been set a tad low, but that doesn't mean everyone has to jump out of their shorts screaming impeachment anytime another one of Bush's (incredibly numerous) idiotic/corrupt actions comes to light.

There is the political process to take care of it. You can neuter Bush quite effectively by voting his party out of Congress. Just go out and vote. If you don't like the candidates on the ballot, vote in the primaries, go to the district meetings and county conventions. Quit biatching and moaning about a pie-in-the-sky impeachment that will never happen. Just get active instead.

2006-01-04 2:56:58 PM
I blame it all on the indians, except for Pego. We illegaly stole their land and now they are trying to illegally buy it back with our hard earned money we lost at their casinos.

With the exception of McCain, I wouldn't miss a wink of sleep if every one of them was tossed in the brig. I become a bigger fan of term limits with each passing year.

2006-01-04 2:58:25 PM
The president has the authority to accept bribes as laid out in the Constitution and reaffirmed when congress gave him the authority to go to war. And I, for one, hope he keeps doing it as it keeps me and my family safe from miners and Ol' Blue.

I'd rather see Congress censure Bush. It's nothing but a slap in the face, but it's still something.
