When people remove their clothes, they become naked.
2006-01-03 01:49:55 PM
What's funny is you're all thinking of slim, hot, half naked young women. Think 45yr old chub wub with a cottage cheese ass in a thong and you're probably on target.

AJCrowley: "We're not prudes by any means,"

Why do prudes always insist upon saying this?

To be fair, they weren't saying "swinging is bad", they were saying "I don't want my kids to see naked drunk people on our vacation".

If flashing a child in a hotel is ok, what's the verdict on flashing one in a public park? How about an elementary school playground? Does it make a difference if it's New Year's Eve or the Fourth of July?

Most of you farkers are being asses.

Parents can avoid the situation if they are told about it before hand, then they can choose to stay or leave.

Couple of years ago, I was going to have a bachelor party at a suite in a Hilton, Manager told me that he had booked about half his rooms to a girl scout convention or some such. Many little girls in uniforms running around. I quickly relocated it to the Marriott so as to avoid "the naked stripper getting Ice runs into girl scouts in hallway" scenario.

If I choose to be a deviant and some parents want to have their children maintain the innocence of youth a little longer, I not going to force my views on them.

Peaceman: " be watching a woman dance in nothing but a thong, and then seeing an 11 year old girl in a soccer uniform behind her."

That's hot.

Peaceman: I know it would have been a woody-killer for me to be watching a woman dance in nothing but a thong, and then seeing an 11 year old girl in a soccer uniform behind her.

Speak for yourself, PEACEMAN!

Here's a photo gallery of a swingers' convention. Looks like a typical swingers' crowd. They had a couple on Oprah a few weeks ago, and even they were heinous. Young beautiful people do not join swingers clubs or go to swingers conventions. This was just an ugly nightmare.

No Such Agency:

To be fair, they weren't saying "swinging is bad", they were saying "I don't want my kids to see naked drunk people on our vacation".

Who does? But here was a great opportunity to get into a dialog with their kids about sexuality.

If I were at the hotel when the soccer team and the swingers were there, I don't think I'd be all that happy about seeing the swingers prancing around, but I don't think I would have blamed the hotel for not warning me that they would be there. I would, however, expect the hotel management to mention to the swingers that this is a public hotel and ask that they keep their nakedness to a minumum when out in public.

Kinda like the mix of High school bands, Beligerent college Football fans, and coked out, spun, beligerent Widespread Panic and Sound Tribe Sector 9 fans in Atlanta this week end.

I've stayed in this hotel and it's nowhere CLOSE to Disney. As a matter of fact, it's not close to anything except the airport, Oracle's Orlando campus and a bajillion strip malls.

This hotel is just north of the Orlando airport, which is on the east/southeast side of Orlando, whereas Disney is wayyyy down on the southwest side.

foo monkey: If flashing a child in a hotel is ok, what's the verdict on flashing one in a public park? How about an elementary school playground? Does it make a difference if it's New Year's Eve or the Fourth of July?

The off-duty cop said he didn't witness any illegal activity. Flashing a child is not ok and may have occurred, but the cop didn't witness it.
2006-01-03 01:58:20 PM
Hey folks, you think is messed up? Try going to Disney during mid-late Feb! There's basically a celebration, unrecognized and unendorsed by Disney, referred to by its participants as Gay Day. It's kind of like Decadence in Orlando, particularly in Disney World. A friend of mine worked there for the college program as a janitorial staff member... According to him he walked in on a couple guys "snogging" in the can at Magical Kingdom.

I think it's pretty hilarious... What's Uncle Johnny gonna say to little Billy that'll help clear THAT mental image out of his fertile little mind?

\I know, I'm twisted...
\\And on the short bus.
\\\At least I've got a window seat!

Disney owns lots of thing just not the theme parks.
They also I believe own the very large convention center in Anaheim by the resort. So this makes a real bad conflict of interests for Disney because as a large convention center of a major city it is hard if not impossible to say that they will not accept conventions that have anything of an adult nature but in the same hand they don't want to be associated with anything like that.

They should just make some completely owned sub company that owns these things with a different name to make it easier for everyone.
2006-01-03 01:59:39 PM
I'm on the parent's side for a couple reasons:

1) They were reasonable. They didn't ask the swingers to stop swinging, just to keep it behind closed doors. The hotel didn't take steps to ensure that was the case.

2) I didn't see the words "We're gonna sue!" in the entire article.

The point foo monkey is valid. Why can you flash a kid in a hotel and not elsewhere? Does this have something to with private property laws?
2006-01-03 02:00:06 PM
opps meant to say "Disney owns lots of thing OTHER THAN the theme parks."

To be fair, they weren't saying "swinging is bad", they were saying "I don't want my kids to see naked drunk people on our vacation".

I guess taking the kids to Ibiza is right out of the running, then.

Submitter, as has been stated before on this thread, is an asshat... resort in question is neither owned by nor affiliated with Disney.
2006-01-03 02:02:29 PM
"We're not prudes by any means," said Rob Young of Greenville, S.C., who said his two daughters, Leah, 13 and Lauren, 11, were asking questions that were difficult to answer. "We would have liked to have been informed when we checked into the hotel so we could have made other arrangements."

I think the other arrangements involved leaving the kids at home!
2006-01-03 02:04:43 PM
This is nothing new for Orlando to do. One year in the convention center they booked a ComicCon, a Magic tourney and a HS cheerleader competition at the same time (and had Budweiser setting up for a sales meeting on Monday). Hmmm, maybe they were trying to show some of the guys there what they could do if they stopped reading comics & playing with silly cards.
2006-01-03 02:05:31 PM
Maybe the headline should read "Nekkid hilarity ensues".

Naked: When you're not wearing any clothes.
Nekkid: When you're not wearing any clothes and are doing something you shouldn't be (such as being in public in this case).
2006-01-03 02:05:58 PM
Public nudity is not a crime?

It wasn't public nudity. The swingers were inside the hotel's private property - in an area they rented.
2006-01-03 02:06:30 PM
It really is true that when you say something like "I'm not an X, but..." you really are an X. Be it prude, racist, idiot, whatever.

fluffywuffy, I don't think anyone is biting on your repeated attempts at a flame war with Republicans. I really don't think that there are that many here.

Now, if you are talking about Republicans and Furry conventions, that is a horse of an another color.

/I like the Furries

"Walker Downs, 15, said he was walking through the lobby about 8 p.m. Saturday with his sister, Molly, 13, and two of her friends, when he saw something he will never forget.

'Some lady pulled down her skirt to show a black thong with diamonds,' said Walker, a 10th-grader at Mauldin High School in Mauldin, S.C.

Do you want to hear something really scary?

I once stayed in the hotel where the Mary Kay national conference was taking place. Now that's a sight I never want to see again.

Earguy: This was just an ugly nightmare.

It looks to me like a bunch of average people. Sounds like you've spent a wee bit too much time watching TV. Actors and actresses are only hired if they're well above average in beauty. Stop getting your standards of beauty from Everquest.

Speaking of mixed conventions, I remeber an event I attended in the late 90's over Columbus Day Weekend. "Promise Keepers" and a Gay Rodeo each having about half the rooms at the Hyatt on Capital Hill in DC.

Good Times.

ccudmore: Whats wrong? Don't like the Tammy Faye Baker school of make-up application. Ask any stonemason, proper trowel handling is a carefully honed craft.

Owww, that was harsh Cyber_Junk, I have seen many swingers from both ends of the spectrum and there are some that should stop, others though have another 5 to 10 years to keep it up. BTW, I am 35, so what's wrong with 45 and Nekid? I've seen some hotties that were over 45.

As much as I dislike soccer Mom's in their Stepford wivery world..
2006-01-03 02:19:15 PM
I'm of the opinion here that if anyone is at fault, it's the hotel. Not the swingers.

They rented the rooms/ballroom/atrium from the hotel, and advised the hotel what they were. The hotel failed to notify the "soccer families". If there is a fault, there's really no question to who it lies, at least in my opinion.
2006-01-03 02:20:22 PM
I tried the "swingers" thing once.
It wasn't for me.
I'm more of a dangler.

my wife's cousin has a destination wedding in florida last year. the same hotel was hosting two conventions at the same time: The Gay and Lesbian Band Association and a little people's convention.

decisions decisions...both would be fantastic.
2006-01-03 02:22:23 PM

Hotels perspective: Swingers and Soccer Mom's money is both green.
2006-01-03 02:23:35 PM
"They described the dress of some of the swingers at the Crowne Plaza Hotel-Airport in Orlando as "raunchy, despicable and worse than prostitutes.""

Worse in the "giving it away for free" way, kid of like saying something is sick when it is really good? Sick = Good? That sort of thing?

Who wants to bet one of the Soccer Moms got her freak on after she put the little one to sleep?
2006-01-03 02:24:01 PM

It's nowhere near Disney. It's by the airport in downtown Orlando.
2006-01-03 02:24:50 PM
Swingers are ugly and mostly Republican hicks

Not all, and yeah, alot are, suprisingly.

Young beautiful people do not join swingers clubs or go to swingers conventions

Bullshiat. My wife and I are relatively young (31 and 33 respectively), she is gorgeous and I consider myself alright. We have met dozens of similar couples. One girl was a dead ringer for Tiffany Amber Theissen. Sure, there are plenty of large, unattractive, and those with unattractive personalities out there, but our experience is that the swinging population is a pretty accurate cross section of the general population, with the appropriate ratios of attractive people that go along with that.

Young beautiful people can get a piece of tail easily,
without some sort of forced organisation

Yes, we can and do. But to go to an event where adults can act like adults and be open, flirty and sexy without repressing natural sexual energy is quite liberating.

NOW, with all that said, I wouldn't be comfortable going to an event like the one in TFA, because non-lifestyle people would be exposed to it. It sounds like the organizers and/or the hotel needed to take some steps to better block off the area from the view of non-participants. I would not be comfortable partying in a place where kids or those in the 'vanilla' world would be inadvertantly exposed.

\flame away- I got asbestos boxers!
\\Not really- I'm freeballin!
2006-01-03 02:25:42 PM

Nail, meet head.

That's what it boils down to I'd say as well. The hotel didn't want to piss off the swingers, who are probably regular business, OR Disney, who pretty much owns Orlando. So in effect, it may have managed to do both.
2006-01-03 02:26:54 PM
The hotel should have helped them find booking elsewhere. Aside from that...

13 year olds are asking questions that mom and dad couldn't asnwer?!! How sad is that? At 13, the age where one used to be married and working, these kids (girls at that) don't know about hoohahs and ding dongs? Talk about irresponsible parenting.

/Other parents will hate me
