To ensure that each photograph looks as good as it should, please adjust your contrast and brightness
so that each of the following shades of gray are distinct from one another and that the transition
from black to white is evenly paced. If you can't do so, you may lose some shadow and highlight detail.

That is really odd.

I don't normally check out these threads because it kills my dial-up but today I did for some reason.

I have a picture eerily similar to this picture on my living room wall. Like, same wig and everything.

Weird.

Thanks! I only wish I'd been able to get a few more shots of it. There were so many people that it was impossible not to get some random person walking through the shot.

It's a crazy world. When I visited, there were just signs making sure you weren't able to exercise your former first amendment rights anywhere near the place where those asshats killed because they supposedly hated us for our freedom. Leave it to governments to come up with lose-lose situations...

As for the enclosure, at least you didn't succumb to denial like me:

I have no idea what this bizarre sign says. Actually, I don't want to know, as it would ruin the mystery. I saw it on a lonely, deserted road at about 3am one night when I was out riding my electric moped. There were a series of signs, but this was the only bizarre one, leading me to believe it's some kind of government public information thing.

I took this to get a picture of the sign. The mountain was a bonus. When you see a sign with diagonal black and yellow stripes you are supposed to drive on the down-pointing side, in this case off the road into the stream.

I thought that sign just meant that the shoulder was ending, which happens there since the road narrows for the bridge?

This is a photo of a notice in a tram in Lviv, Ukraine taken last summer. Because I couldn't read Ukrainian, the ticket inspector asked me to pay a fine for not buying a ticket for my luggage. Then, something very Ukrainian happened. Two passengers stood up for me and started a loud and passionate argument with the conductor before chasing her off the tram.

Only in Ukraine...

Man I wish i wasn't so late and had a certain few pictures on the computer here. Ive got at least two pictures that i think would have been cool. One is one of many street signs in my town with a stenciled on picture of Tony Danza on it, the other is from a campsite. Its a big wooden sign with Yogi the Bear on it telling you not to speed and that the speed limit is 5 1/2 miles per hour. 5 1/2 wtf?

For those of you keeping track, that's a shopping plaza next to Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungomaugg, also known as Webster Lake. Can't imagine why the name didn't stick....

Three things for my third entry....
1-Never been to another state that has anything like the Massachusetts "Entering" signs.
2-It's a tradition with my friends & I to see how fast we can get "through" the city at this point (notice the "Entering Westport" sign in the background...) Can't remember what the record is....
3-Seeing these things makes me think i'm home, which makes them my favorite signs of all! :-)

Kaiser Permanente building, Granada Hills, California, January 1994. I took this the Sunday after the Northridge Earthquake. Picture 1 of 3.

Union strikers, Simi Valley, California, October 2003. The photo is dark because of the fires that were raging in the surrounding hills at that time. They are wearing masks because of all the smoke and ash in the air. This was taken in the afternoon on what would normally be a clear and sunny day. They posed quite willingly for the photo. Picture 2 of 3.

Sentosa Island, Singapore, January 1997. This may be stretching the "sign" theme a bit, but this fountain greets visitors off the aerial tram to the island. Well, the ball the dragon is holding is a type of sign. What the heck, I like the picture. Picture 3 of 3.

This is a sign I've used as an avatar because of it's delicious irony. I found the image in an article about a British town that was changing it's name.
