1 gig of Ram is fine for any game out right now.. and 1 gig is about standard for any halfway decent gaming computer.

/still bitter about Halo being stolen, but it was the only way the xbox would compete and not completely tank. it partly tanked.. but at least it didnt go the way of the Dreamcast (rip)

anyone else remember when you could play Quake2 on the Dreamcast and it allowed you to play vs PC players? and the console players got wtfowned?

Mine and my dad's machine MAX OUT at 512 Megs RAM. But then again I paid only a couple of hundrded for my machine at home.
I guess "Halfway decent gaming computer" translates into "machine where I spent too much money."

Ok...I'm not going to say that PC's are better at FPS than consoles.

I WILL say that I certainly enjoy running across console Counter-Strike players though. Easy knife kills are fun.

mekkab: Are you kidding me, 512 ram max? Spend $300 and get yourself an ASUS MB with an Athalon64 3000+ (2ghz) with a gig of ram, thats what I plan on doing any day now.

I play BF2 everynight (and kill my teamates...he he he, these people playing these games think teamates are friends) and I only have 512. Sure I run it at the lowest graphics, but it looks and moves great. And my video card is only an ATI Radeon 9200 (128megs). Processor is the Athalon 2400+ (1.6ghz I think)

never played Fear, Im into GTA San Andreas now

tarmon: played WoW with above computer. Moved great on low settings and looked good, too bad that games sucks ass! What kind of person would spend $50 for that game and 15 a month. The Nerd to fun ratio was way to high for me to ever play that game for any amount of time. And the que time sucked (2 hours?? come on!)

I've played BF 2 and Fear, Crucible1001. I've only got 512, and I get a fine framerate. I also haven't had to upgrade my computer for more than a year, yet I can play the newest games fine.

Take the money you squander on a console every couple of years and dump it into your PC. A gig of RAM and an upper echelon video card will hold you over for a couple of years, at the same cost as the XBOX 360.

Who ever said I was a console gamer? I love and play games regardless of where they are (unless it's a PS2 I refuse to buy Sony crap).

Half Life 2 on the PC, jump to DDR on my Xbox, play some Super Smash Bros Melee on the Gamecube. That's my night, baby.

Turning was too slow in the xbox version, or if you turned up the speed, wasn't precise enough.

I play BF:2 on maximum graphics settings at 1600x1200 with a gig of ram. It runs just fine.

Are you speaking from experience?

On second thought, don't answer that.

The first concert I went to (Def Leppard in 1988), my friend's grandmother came along. And she was there for the show as much of any of us. That was pretty cool.
