I think bro's is perfectly acceptable. An apostrophe can be used to denote missing letters, e.g., can't. The apostrophe in bro's denotes it is a shortened form of brothers. Ho's is more questionable since hores isn't really a word, but I don't think it's so obviously wrong that submitter desrves to get flamed.

2005-11-11 02:08:53 PM chairborne

That cartoon always scares me. Makes me feel like a rapist.
2005-11-11 02:35:58 PM
The "Bro's before Ho's" expression would have made more sense if the policeman was friends with the dude who allegedly assaulted his fiancee. And so regardless of their friendship, he simply decided to sleep with his buddy's fiancee.

It's all part of the playground code of ethics for dating for men. What's off-limits for dating, what's fair game, etc.

While this may all seem obvious. Apparently, Submitter has no clue....

I blame the Green lighter! A quick glance at this headline makes my head swim
with grammatical rage!

/Bad Green lighter
//No More Slashes for you!
/ Alright, one more.

i enjoy the fact that the only reason this was greenlighted is because it made use of the phrase 'bros befores hos'.

wait wait wait
"the woman told him he was cute and offered to have sex with both him and Leslie."

you mean, chicks aren't joking when they say things like this? I've been such a fooL!
2005-11-11 02:49:43 PM
Why are grammatical abortions like this approved?
2005-11-11 02:50:08 PM
So, did the cop receive an invite to the wedding? Things like this can only strengthen a relationship.

/sarcasm off
2005-11-11 02:50:35 PM
Great to know that cops are looking out for us. Especially drunk horny women in bars.
2005-11-11 02:51:03 PM
What a gigantic slut.
2005-11-11 02:51:54 PM
Basney, a 12-year veteran, and Officer Rusty Leslie responded.

"Rusty Leslie"? Wasn't he a pr0n star? No? He should be.
2005-11-11 02:52:03 PM
Chairborne That was...(sob)...awesome, man.
2005-11-11 02:52:07 PM
is 'bros before hos' the masculine of 'chicks before dicks'?
just curious
this article screams class.
2005-11-11 02:52:30 PM

She was getting married to her cousin?

This will come off as racist (no "p"), but many black people consider close friends to be "related" so they use blood relation terms as "cousin". I learned that from either Murder She Wrote or Three's Company.

ho(bag)s = ho's

although it isn't missing letters, it is for contractions.
has not = hasn't
does not = doesn't

so unless you are saying hoos = ho's, it is still wrong.
2005-11-11 02:55:14 PM

Which one? The ho or the bro? I personally think they both come out of it looking fairly rank....
2005-11-11 02:56:24 PM
Whores = 'ho's?
2005-11-11 02:57:07 PM
I just have to marvel at the kind of people who can get into a vicious, violent, hours long fight with their spouse, and then when the cops show up, instantly forget all about it and get a raging horn of gondor for the cop trying to fill out the arrest report.
2005-11-11 02:57:54 PM
Booze makes people do stuff they normally wouldn't do. We all agree right? A female (or male for that matter) drinking too much booze then having sex with everyone at a party and then regreting it the next morning is not rape.
(uh oh..grammar police.. is that a run on sentence? get yer red pen) Having sex with a girl that is passed out from too much drink is, infact, rape. It reminds me of the saying, "But officer.. I wouldn't drive drunk if I was sober.."

Oh, and Bro's before Ho's is actually slang and not eligible for Scrabble. Therefore, it is not subject to the proper punctuation laws of the galaxy.

My hat's are all of to all of you's submitter's.
2005-11-11 02:58:29 PM
[image from too old to be available] receives so many submissions that people often make mistakes in their haste to submit a link. Film at 11.
2005-11-11 03:06:04 PM
i'm with chaddsfark...

Bro's before 'ho's = Brothers before Whores

this is correct
2005-11-11 03:11:41 PM
Where did that cartoon come from?

I am so disturbed.
2005-11-11 03:14:40 PM
The man who had been with her was her cousin, she told the officers, but he had left the scene before police arrived. That man, it turned out, was engaged to the woman.

1) Engaged to her cousin.

Witnesses agreed that the woman was intoxicated, though Basney told other officers that she did not appear so to him.

2) Drunk.

In interviews with department investigators, Basney said the woman told him he was cute and offered to have sex with both him and Leslie.

3) Offered to have sex with two on duty police officers at once.

Given these clues, I have compiled a picture of the skank in question:

First the article disturbed me, now chairborne's cartoon has me really freaked out.
2005-11-11 03:21:29 PM
You say bro's before hoes.

I say chicks before dicks.

Unsilent Majority

Umm, huh? You must be using IE and going to "save image." This is not the correct way to check an image name. Right click, go to properties, the name will be there.

P.S. If you were using firefox, even the save image method would work.

Yes, chairborne. That cartoon is awesome. Where might I find more like it? I almost googled for "doug funny rape cartoon," but realized I'm at work.

/And yes, while typing this I realized that posting the phrase "doug funny rape cartoon" to fark might raise red flags too. Hi Chris.
2005-11-11 03:40:58 PM
I think what the cop did was a bad idea, but it doesn't sound like it violated any policies. Still, he probably has a disease now. Shouldn't that be punishment enough?
2005-11-11 03:46:48 PM
I don't understand how this is an example of Bros before did this get greenlit again?

2005-11-11 03:50:17 PM
Ooooo it takes ev'ry kinda pe-ople, to make what life's about yeah
2005-11-11 03:58:35 PM
Wouldn't Bros before Hos mean that he didn't have sex with the woman, but instead went to help one of his fellow police officers at another crimescene?

Or maybe something involving fantasy football?
2005-11-11 05:02:48 PM
Aren't cops supposed to have some morals and social responsibility?

Take part of the day off as vacation time? Holy geez you made it to work finish your shift.

Screwing a drunk crime victim? That is just wrong.

The policy manual encourages things? Why even bother having a manual then? Does it encourage not shooting into a crowd on a dance floor on New Years Eve? No! Then live it up bust a cap in those drunken revelers, unless you see one you want to nail then take the rest of the day as vacation and give her the shocker and I don't mean the Tazer!

2005-11-11 05:21:03 PM

LOL, I remember when that show was on Nickelodeon.

/Also remembers Seven Cities of Gold
//And Spartacus
///I'd wake my 7 year old ass up at 6:00 AM to watch those.
////Tempted to search it out to watch them again, but is afraid of ruining my memories of them like I did with Thundercats.
//Slash n' hack!
2005-11-11 05:53:28 PM
doesn't sound that way to me.

Actually, the rape charge could stick. If she was badly intoxicated, a jury might find that she was mentally incapable of giving consent, which would make the officer a rapist under the law.
2005-11-11 06:16:37 PM
submitter obviously has neither bros nor hoes.
2005-11-11 07:24:10 PM
All these comments and not a single Magnolia reference?
2005-11-11 08:11:06 PM
I personally would have used the Chewbacca defense.
2005-11-11 08:29:27 PM

Leave work early, fail to file a report, drive the drunk chick you were called out for in your patrol car, bone her, drop her off at her fiance's place. All in a day's work for the Seattle PD.

Nice of them to reduce his suspention after explaining he just needed to get some.

/Boys will be boys.
//They should give him an award for making her feel better.
///Ethics shmethics... he's a cop it's not like he's expected to have morals and forthright judgement.
////Any single hot lady cops out there? I'll be running around my yard naked waving a bottle of gin around midnight.
2005-11-12 12:10:38 AM
For what its worth the restuarant mentioned in the article, the Scarlet Tree, has been closed down. Probably will be knocked down for some more condos.

/no word if that means more action for the cops

Surprised that this thread didn't get a "Hero" tag. Why not? Everything else is.
2005-11-12 03:39:22 PM
this would be funny if it weren't so sad. seattle, hang your head in shame. typical piggery. that's the tag that belongs on this article.
