Just getting ready for the inevitable.

Red Sox won't make the playoffs. How great is that for a "Championship" team?

How did I know you'd be the first one here, Smooky?

I always enjoy your comments, except, of course, for the Yankees stuff. It'll be sad when your head asplodes next weekend.

Don't forget, it's the Yankees who wait until October to do their best choking.

A reasonable attempt at an unbiased baseball discussion...

First, a disclaimer: I'm a long time Red Sox fan and Yankee hater.

The Yankees and the Red Sox have both done an exceptional job of overcoming injuries this season and making it to where they are right now. Most devastating to both teams has been the injuries to their pitching staffs.

I can honestly still see both teams making the playoffs. I can see just one of the two making it without the other. I think it's good for baseball if they both do make it. It's not bad for baseball if one makes it and the Tribe makes it in. It's an exciting race right now. If you're a true baseball fan, regardless of who you root for, this is as about as good as it gets.

I don't think either team has what it takes to win it all. Without the pitching, it'll be tough for either team, and both teams have suspect pitching. Sox on the closer end, Yankees on middle relief especially, with still a couple of questions on the starters.

For the longest time, I thought it would be the White Sox coming out of the AL. I'm not so sure about that now either.

It's exciting. I love it. I've got tickets to Saturday's Sox/Yankees game. Good luck to your team, too, Smooky, as much as I hate them.

I'll save that little nugget.

Still trying to decide which pair will be my "playoffs underwear". Boxer or boxer-briefs? Difficulty: standing at the Cactus Club for hours on end, drinking beer and screaming at the telly. With drawers in a bunch.

Looks like the Red Sox won the East too. Not great work there by The Smoking Gun. They couldn't find the Red Sox one? Did they try Google? Idiots.

Submitter is an idiot, so is TSG in this case. They do this for both teams when there is a close pennant race.

These are not the droids you're looking for...

GooberMcFly: How long did it take you to find those links?

Not long at all. I used google (froogle) to find the item. I know that the Sports Authority uses the same item code as MLB.com. So I just copied that item number into the MLB shop and played with the numbers at the end. The second-to-last digit seems to be the team code.

Who buys division champion shirts anyway? I saw recently once with a "2004 AL Wildcard Champions Boston Red Sox" hat. They won the farking ring, forget the wildcard.

This is such a non-story. They always print shirts for both teams in a playoff situation. This is the same scenario.

That being said, praise to the Fark gods for inciting a Yankees/Red Sox flamewar.

Hey, wasn't it cool how the Red Sox defeated the Yankees in the World Series last year?

Wait, what? The Yankees didn't even get to the World Series? Then who the fark did? Oh, I see, it doesn't matter. Nobody even remembers the team that the Red Sox DID beat to win the World Series!

Demetrius:

The Yankees and the Red Sox have both done an exceptional job of overcoming injuries this season and making it to where they are right now. Most devastating to both teams has been the injuries to their pitching staffs.

The Yanks have had the worse pitching staff injury issues this year by far. The Sox lost Schilling and Foulke for various periods. The Yankees set a record for most starting pitchers used in a season. They have had the bigger hill to climb.

2005-09-27 04:08:07 PM
go yankees!

2005-09-27 04:08:13 PM
I don't understand the problem. Of course they are gonna create this merchandise before something happens. If they don't win, they lose a little money. If they do win, they get to charge $40 per T-Shirt. I'd bet most teams do the same.

/GO YANKEES!

That may be true, but it's only because of the massive ammounts of alcohol consumed right after they won it all..

Umm...the Cardinals?

I'm pretty sure that's well known info. At least to people who actually, like, watch baseball games and stuff.

Yankees vs. Red Sox WAS the world series last year. The real world series was boring.

Cool, they've got themselves a TV show:

It will definitely be an A.L. team that wins the World Series this year. There has been so much parity at the top this year, that there has been a lot of small ball being played; moreso than I can remember in recent history. Scary thing is, the A.L. teams (Oakland and the Indians off the top of my head) proved they can play that style. Couple that with the fact that the A.L. East can break out their boomsticks any time they like, subpar pitching is all that is needed.

I will bet a month of TotalFark to anyone that wishes that it will be Red Sox and the Cardinals again.

I hope the Yankees win the AL East, because the Angels own the Yankees. I went to the first playoff game in Anaheim in 16 years back in 2002 when the Yankees were up by 6 runs after like 3 innings and the Angels came back and won it. I was sitting right in front of a row of obnoxious Yankees fans (redundant?). They were talking smack for the first 8 innings, right up until the point when the Angels rallied and Scioscia brought in Percy to close them out. I turned around with a big smile and said, "You guys have a *great* team. Great." Boy, were they quiet.

Go Angels!

Done deal then. My e-mail addy is in my profile. When and if you lose, you won't have to pay up for a couple of months since I won some bets off the Pats-Steelers game on the TotalFark side. Probably wouldn't be until February if I win, but I will up you immediately if the World Series is anyone other than Sox/Cards. Bookmark this page!
